Love your videos. Still having trouble finding a pi zero w. As a comparison how does your pi build differ from that of km4ack?
@KM6LYW Жыл бұрын
Hi Bradley, yah, supply chain is a mess. rpilocator.com, or check ebay. Jason's build-a-pi gives you a full Linux desktop, and a cool way to install all the components yourself, so it's more of a process. DigiPi is a single SD card image with everything preinstalled, and is entirely managed with a web interface, and ham radio apps display on your phone, digipi is more of an appliance. You'll learn a lot more going with build-a-pi, and can completely customize your build.

@@KM6LYW Thanks for the response. I will probably build one of each for the experience. Keep up the great work.

Hi, can I use an Icom ic705 for ISS APRS along with APRSDROID on my phone via Bluetooth and of course with the digipi? If yes, could you make a video showing how to set it up and use it? Thanks for the great content.
@KM6LYW Жыл бұрын
Yes, absolutely. The ic705 makes it easy, since you just need a USB cable (no audio board, etc). I'll have to look back at my videos, I think i made some in this regard. check my bluetooth video for bluetooth connections, also more info at digipi.org .

If I wanted to work the ISS digipeater in the back country do I need a directional antenna? Most other videos I have seen on the internet people are using directional antennas.
@KM6LYW Жыл бұрын
A yagi might help, but I don't own one, and can often hit the ISS with a rubber duck, better with signal-stick, much easier with rollup jpole. make sure you angle an omni-directional antenna so the ISS is broad-side. The big Diamond X200 stick on the roof works every time, especially good with the ISS is lower on the horizon.
@JoJa015 Жыл бұрын
@@KM6LYW I have a rollup jpole so I will give that a try. Just so I understand this correctly, if the ISS is directly overhead I would want my rollup jpole to be horizontal to the ground correct? That way it would be broadside to the ISS passing overhead?
@KM6LYW Жыл бұрын
@@JoJa015 Yes, that's exactly right, or whatever angle off the horizon. check the station ages on ariss.net. the iss digi has been down for the past few days.
