You did roll the right symbols I guess on time 1:54:50. As you said vanguard symbol is like a computer and the top yellow result leads to green one (there is an arrow), so you do not need red+blue dice.

Great teach Aaron. When I saw the size of the box (implying this was a "BIG" game) I fully expected a solid 45-60 minute teach...and you did it in 30 min.

Thanks! It is actually much less complex than it looks, everything is laid out for you in the ship book or the steps of the dice check, and if something goes wrong you probably just skipped reading a line in one of those!

I'm impressed at how much Aaron is able to remember from this game. I would be SO confused! I wouldn't remember half of the things he has in his brain for this game! I hope the BGG crew on the ISS Vanguard enjoyed their adventure!

Great to see Aaron back, there is tons of game management in this game so you need almost like a dungeon master person keep track of everything. Very funny Lincoln knocking over the event deck loved that.

this would be a fantastic game for a group of Star Trek fans or general space sci-fi fans. It must be pretty pricey, but I could see a group really digging into this and making this their "Saturday Game Night" game for as long as it takes to complete the story.

@ 42:43- the bookmark at top of page is supposed to go the other way. U place it so u can see the ship and it doesn't hide info. It's not really that important, but just in case, for others to know. The crew cards that have "unlock" type text on the back are from the "Personnel Files" expansion. They match 1:1 the standard crew cards that come with the game. Basically, after you draw/draft a crew member, you will go find their matching Personnel Files card. This will give you some kind of quest to unlock their upgraded version. They aren't meant to be shuffled into the full personnel deck.

To answer Dave’s question whether having only two crew members landing makes the game harder - well, it balances out. First, if you have fewer people down on a planet, then you draw fewer event cards, so negative effects will likely occur later. Then, since you run all four departments, you will have more people available to commit to various ship sections, which will likely give you useful upgrades, equipment and tech faster. And of course, I suppose you could always run the game as if it were a 4-player one, if you want, as there isn’t really a lot of hidden information among players.

This is a big game with loads of rules, it's a hard one to get into, but once you do it all becomes simpler, I promise. I've finished this first campaign and am eagerly waiting for campaign number 2. :) A small note on probably the biggest mistake I've seen, at 2:30:00, when you get the alien leads, the symbol on the top track means move one on the bottom track, it does not mean auto succeed. You'd basically would still need 4 extra dice. If you hadn't rolled so poorly, you could have used some of the remaining ones to move the bottom track further along. Good gaming and I hope you finish the campaign ;)

Accident icons can still qualify for RGB colored dice results if there is no special effect defined for accident icons for that particular dice check. Only in dice combinations they cannot be used.

Section card deck size is at least 10 cards, can be as big as you want as long as you follow the rank restrictions.

Thank you for showing us this game! I am still looking for 1 space game for the collection. I definitely love all the ship areas and how they are continually saved so it will feel more and more like your ship and your crew as you play more. That is exceptionally cool to me! Before buying it, I would still need to see some other run-throughs and get some answers... 1. Does the bookkeeping process become easier and faster over time if one person becomes the process expert? 2. If one person becomes the process expert, can you play with newbies who do not have to worry about the process or bookkeeping? My guess is 1 and 2 would improve if 1 person invests time to become the process expert. 3. Does the planet play get more interesting or more monotonous over time? It felt a bit drawn out. But the save bag is cool so lots of goodies to update the ship!

The recruit step isn’t supposed to be all at the same time. It specifically stated Security picks the order of who picks when. Lincoln never defined a specific order.

You are correct, but in a co-op game, where we want the best possible group result, we'll often just "crew decision" that kind of process - the result is the same and we save a little time. (There are a few "this player picks" processes in ISS Vanguard, but I think they're really only there if your group absolutely can't agree on something.)

An hour and 20 minutes in and you're still setting up the mission and revealing cards that you won't even use this game...that's just ridiculous. A game shouldn't take longer o setup than it does to actually play.

The game started at the 30 minute mark. All those things they did in the ship book are decision making that are part of the game. Upgrading stuff and such. Since it is a campaign game they will do those things between every planetary phase.
