Thank you so much for this. I grew up upper middle class in a white neighborhood and TV was a saving grace for me. I entered the domestic violence field 20 years ago to ensure that what happened to me wouldnt happen to another young girl. I've been blessed to be able to speak about my experiences publicly for years but I know I have more to give artistically. I wrote a play about black and brown women healing from domestic and sexual violence and it's been well received and we even did a mini tour but my lack of confidence ultimately interupted much of my progress..same with a book I wrote about dv in the black community and a short film I wrote and shot about a black Vietnam vet. It's like I create art and then stop! But I am working through it and not beating myself up about it. Thank you for showing what's possible when you stay focused and keep going and that it's not about where you start it's how you finish....PS: my sexy alter ego is Skipper Goodhill which I love!
