Right? His sealed Zanpakuto had the same tassels at the end of the hilt that Isshin's do. The only differences are, 1, the size, as Ichigo had little control over his power, and 2, the guard is squareish shaped, rather than more hexagonal, like Isshin's.

Kubo explained all of that in an interview. Rukia just though it was a human that had the same first name and a very vaguely similar face, but much much older looking than Captain Shiba (since Shinigami age waaaaay slower than humans), as at the point of meeting her, he had no power to sense, and seemed to be way older than the Isshin she knew could be. Also Kubo revealed that Shinigami and Humans can't have children together naturally, except with the humanizing gigai that Isshin's soul was stuffed into. Due to these facts, Rukia immediately dismissed the idea as even possible, and just passed it off as a coincidence. Though, Isshin remembering who she was was the reason he was so gung ho about letting her stay with them all the time. He liked seeing a familiar, friendly face, even if she didn't realize it at the time. On the other hand, Rangiku and Hitsugaya immediately noticed him for exactly who he was and put together where he'd gone all those years ago. Though, they silently agreed with each other not to even approach the issue or Isshin himself about it, as they both believed he must have had a sufficiently important reason for doing what he did, and that he may have had some painful memories pertaining to it. Also, between the end of the Arrancar Arc and the beginning of the Fullbring Arc, Isshin silently revealed himself again to the Soul Society, but was given a pass by Yamamoto, the same way Yoruichi and Urahara were cleared and welcomed back as allies due to them all being an integral part of their victory. With that, Ishhin was allowed to remain in the Human World as a "Human" until Ichigo, Karin, and Yuzu were all able to live on their own without him.

Just like how Ichigo has Isshin's spiky hair, but in orange, and most of Isshin's facial features, but Masaki's nose. You'd instantly recognize that all of them are related even if you never read the series.

When we did reunite, our relationship was distant at first but when I read Bleach, Isshin's charachter changed my mind and now I have a close relationship with my father. Isshin is one of my favorite characters in Bleach and I'm glad you got to analyze him. Not only is he a father that takes an active role in their children's lives, he one of those characters that you are happy to learn more about. While at first appearing to be just an overly silly dad about everything who messes with his son, slowly but surely, you learn that he a some representation of what Ichigo can become: a person willing to do whatever takes to protect his loved ones, but also can laugh during the good times. The biggest factors that prevented Ichigo from developing into the kind of man his father is his angst of his hollow abilities and his grief over his mother's passing. After growing pass these personal hangups we see through he's not as goofy as Isshin, he has become a much happier person while also keeping his strong drive to protect his family and friends. Another that I've always liked is the comraderie between both Isshin and Urahara. Both characters find themselves trapped in the human from their desire to do good, with Urahara being exiled in his attempts to save the visoreds and Isshin being trapped after giving up his shimigami powers to rescue Masaki. They also have the ability to present a goofy persona that hides a more capable and serious indivisual, especially after Isshin regains his powers. These similarites allow for them to work together well very effectively and it is always reassuring that Isshin can trust Urahara to care for his son when the latter trains Ichigo.It would have been great to see the two interact more and at least have them fight together in a battle. If their is is any scene from the anime or manga that has this, please let me know.

Kisuke and isshin teamed up with youruichi and fought aizen in around episode 308-310 306 is all out war when aizen solos the gotei they fight shortly after but aizen wipes them as he is fully merged with the hougyoko at that point but he fought well

I really hope Kubo adds more stuff to the anime that he could not in the manga, given the time they had and still have for production until October. Especially since with all the help for Soul Society and the world, ne never got to visit his Shiba relatives or Rangiku and Toushirou. After Gin died, despite Rangiku having resolved herself to help Toushirou, I think it would have helped her to know at least one person she lost was still alive. Then after the final fight, I wanted Isshin to visit Kuukaku and Ganju

Isshin so powerful he got me to watch the whole show. I remember watching episode 2 when he skybombs Ichigo to wake him up and I was like "yep, I'm in for this one".

Also to take note is that in the Fake Katakura Town Arc, when Isshin tells Ichigo to open a senkaimon to chase down Aizen in Soul Society, Ichigo tells him how massive Aizen's reisatsu and that there's now way they could stop him. At that scene, Isshin was shocked that Ichigo could sense Aizen's reiatsu when he couldn't and state that it may still be possible for Ichigo to stop Aizen. When they enter senkaimon and that the Kototsu was destroyed by Aizen, Isshin finds the chance for Ichigo to learn a way to stop Aizen in time, the Final Getsuga Tensho. What to take note here is that when Ichigo tells Isshin that he could sense Aizen's reiatsu, Isshin confirmed that Ichigo's power has already evolved at the same level as Aizen. What I mean about Ichigo's power here is his shinigami power, his original zanpakuto, White Zangetsu. We learned in Everything but the Rain that Old Man Zangetsu suppressed Ichigo's shinigami powers, his zanpakuto which is his inner hollow before it could mature. Before arriving in the fake Karakura Town, Ichigo fought Ulquiorra and died. At this moment, death ruled in Ichigo's inner world thus releasing his inner hollow and it matures into its final form. It is at this time that Ichigo's power achieve the same level as Aizen and he only needs to master it to learn Final Getsuga Tensho.

I think that Isshin's and Ichigo's resemblance between zanpakuto's are more a byproduct of their direct lineage than from being a part of the Shiba Clan, because Kaien's Zanpakuto, Nejibana, is totally different from Engetsu or Zangetu. With that said, I always liked how goofy Isshin was, a direct contrast with Ichigo's frowning all the time, especially with those "Wake up, Ichigo!!" entrances...

when I 1st saw that he was a Captain in the manga, I got so hyped and the way how they drew him in full shinigami clothing is so cool, he has the most simplistic design as a captain but GOD dam he looks so cool with it

One of the things I wish had happened was linking Ginjou with Isshin in some way. It would add more depth into the backstory of Ginjou and more weight into his motivation. I would have made Isshin the Shinigami who Ginjou was closest to and the Shinigami who "killed" him. I think it would've made the fullbring arc much more accepted and would've added to the mystery of Isshin.

Isshin was what sold the story to me. Even before we learned he was a shinigami, I just loved his parenting. I really liked Ichigo but Isshin was my favorite character. That was sealed when I saw the graveyard episodes. I fell in love with the anime at that point.

Him rescuing, then settling down with and raising a family with Masaki in a way foreshadows the general peace and reconciliation that Shinigami and Quincy would undergo after the TBW thus showing how supposedly mortal enemies can cast away the hate. The loss of Masaki sure steeled his resolve to give their family the peaceful normal lives that eluded the Spirit worlds they came from.

One detail you got mistaken on, Ishin didn't brought Aizen to his shinigami limit. What Aizen was saying is that his limit as a shinigami was reached since he was about to transform, plus the hoguoku was draining his reiatsu

I thought getsuga might be a Shiba technique too but since we see that nowhere else in Bleach, passed down techniques, I think it’s more likely that they have the same ability and similar zanpakuto names because Isshin poured all his reiatsu into Masaki and she transferred that to Ichigo which is why they are the only two people we see using the same zanpakuto techniques. Hoping they give him and Ryuken more screen time in the anime since Kubo is going to expound on the rushed aspects of the manga from what I’ve read.

I think it's a mix. I think Zanpakuto powers may be vaguely hereditary, but also the Hollow White may have, in a way "copied" parts of Isshin's powers as it was a Hollow that was fused with Isshin's genetic Shinigami abilities to become a Hollowfied Zanpakuto Spirit. The reason I think this is because Kaien's Zanpakuto had absolutely no relation to having the Getsuga ability, or even having "Getsu" in it's name. His powers were totally unique, and he was part of the Shiba Clan.

On the other hand how many Soul Reaper families do we actually see: -> Kuchiki-Clan, we never saw Byakuyas Grandfather in action nor is Rukia related by blood. -> Youruichi and her brother-> Again, both dont really make use of their Zanpakutou, but mastered their kind of Shunpo/hand-to-hand combat. Only evidence that every Zanpakutou is totally different is the second Bleach movie......which isn´t canon and basically Hitsugaya Fanservice.

Why should they? Do you even know the history of Shiba clan within Soul Society? They fell from their high status position, they used to be one of the noble clan. Soul Society already had a beef with Shiba clan for generations. With the disappearance of Isshin and the death of Kaien, it's pretty much a cakewalk for Soul Society to buried them for good.

Losing Isshin was nothing for them especially when he's from Shiba clan which the Soul Society already had a grudge with them. What glossed over? There's already a story that covered the history about Shiba clan when they were still part of the Noble families during Soul King was still alive and why they were casted out.

This is another reason I love Bleach cause you can have at least parent part of the story and the main characters life without being used as escape goat/plot armor or weaken the main character instead just be a normal and loving parent doing what they can for their child without being overprotective. After all no matter how much you love/care you have for someone or strong you yourself can't always be there when you are needed but you can at least be there for them sometimes which is better than never being there and when they can't make it in time they just have trust & faith in their child.

I always wonder why no one mentions the Isshin's relationship to Kukaku, Ganju, Kaien. I mean does Isshin still talk to Ganju and Kukaku? Does Ichigo ever even get told they are related? Are Kukaku and Ganju his Aunt and Uncle? Are they His cousins? Do they recognize Ichigo's resemblance to Kaien? Does Ichigo visit them as family? So many questions!

You wanna know what REALLY gets me right in the feels? In the first arc, when Isshin mentions facing Masaki again one day, not only did he know that wasn't happening because she was killed by a Hollow (I'm not sure if her soul was purified and sent to the SS when he killed the GF). No that wasn't enough for Kubo. Because Isshin is a captain class shinigami, when he dies his soul will likely be sent straight to Hell.... I highly doubt he wasn't aware of that fact when he spoke to Ichigo. But because he's a soul living in what is basically a human shell (and it's aging him like an actual human), I've always wondered what would happen to him if he died. I regret knowing now. :)

There are no Quincy in SS until Yhwach was defeated that's because every Quincy that died before it their soul comes back to him because that's how he came to be when he was a baby he didn't have senses and couldn't be considered neither alive nor dead until people touched him and gained a part of their soul then they died and the fragment of Yhwach and the soul of the person who touched him came back to him and that's how Quincies came to be so neither Masaki nor Uryu's granpa could go to SS

The only thing that never made sense about Isshin is his drastically different looks from before as a captain. Originally, he looked a lot like Ichigo. I'd say it's just him aging and getting crooked nose from having it broken one too many times, but that should only apply to his human body but why does he also look like that in Shiningami form as well?
