I feel like oda does good at having similar fruits that kind of balance by being different. Kidd, fujitora and shiki all have similar fruits but with different benefits and negatives. Fujitora can increase and decrease the weight of things but requires concentration to use his powers. Shiki can only make things weightless but has more freedom able to leave things floating while he sleeps even islands. And can shape dirt or snow into lion heads because he has such good control over it. Kidd can only affect metals but has both the benefit of attraction and repulsion. Having more control than fujitora but not as much as shiki. Or like heat devil fruits. Oven, bill, don accino, king bear Oven is the hottest Don accino isn’t as hot but can generate heat waves giving him more long range attacks. Bill isn’t as hot either (and I think relies on coal for heat) but is able to smelt metal and form weapons or armour out of his body. And king bear isn’t very hot either but is granted a body like stone.

It probably has a limit, like Buggy is only able to float his separated body parts around 200 meters away from his actual body (immediately lose control over it if his feet isn't making contact with the ground) Since Fujitora has a literal power of gravity manipulation, it's safe to assume that his gravity power goes beyond range than Kidd since Kidd's Devil Fruit is repelling and attracting metal objects (magnetism) so i doubt his power ranges from earth to outer space itself. I think Devil Fruit follows a very basic rules of nature, Gum Gum doesn't conduct Rumble Rumble, Magma Magma can penetrate Flame Flame heat vulnerability since it is hotter and Magnet Magnet has a specific range just like how magnetism actually works.

Many people really don't understand the Navy. Just because the new military draft is mentioned after Fujitora's introduction in the main story , they think the Marines would just hire a 54 year old man in the force. Army doesn't go like that at all. To make it a profession you are drafted as a permanent soldier ffrom the beginning and after that you can climb ranks. That is clearly how Fujitora went from soldier to Admiral. There can't be a different case. I believe he was also present as a Marine rookie at the God Valley Incident and because he saw all the horror that went under way there he blinded himself because of that. Chronologically he was 18 at that time.
