A coalition of National Conference (NC) and Congress is set to form the next government in Jammu and Kashmir after a victory in the recently held assembly elections. The BBC's Raghvendra Rao spoke to NC leader Omar Abdullah about a range of issues including the demands for the restoration of the region's autonomy and whether the new government will have real powers in the absence of statehood.

J&K is just like any other part of India. Article 370 was supposed to be temporary and there is no way it is ever coming back. Why these guys are so keen on separating themselves from rest of India ? Instead they should focus on bringing Kashmiri pandits back to their homes and ensure their safety.

Well 370 is a dead now. But yes J&k must be given statehood like all the other indian states. Even the people of J&K need to understand that they are not some special tribe chosen by god to be honoured with some so called special status. All the people in all the states of india are equal and no one state ought to be bestowed disproportionately. We are all one and equal.
