Issue with my Niche Duo. | What to do next?

Thanks for the information. i did not know the carrier had a pin there too. I like my niche duo. HU SSP burrs have served me well and I cannot wait to hear about your experience with the MP burrs.

Thx for watching. That is why I record those videos. I might put LS burrs in Niche and keep MP in DF83V. I was never a fan of HU and sold them some time ago.

Looking forward to hear your experience with the Pasado HE filter as that is the only HE basket I have tried and I am quite happy with it. So maybe I get some confirmation or I have to try one more 🙂

@@7MiralasMaybe the thickness. It is quite thick. I use it in a flair 58 and there is a noticable difference compared to a IMS basket. And it need a bit harder (very little) push to close tight. Nothing I think about anymore - but the first 3-5 times for sure.

Thx. Mazzer burrs tend to deliver more body especially for espresso. Pour over burrs - maybe need more seasoning. I got some great cups and some not so good, with bitter aftertaste. I would say overall it is a good grinder but I still want to upgrade burrs to ssp. I plan to put cast burrs in it and keep MP in DF83V.

Thanks for the video Jack, I think having the pin or key dropping off without the user deliberately disassembling it just points to poor design by the maker.

Hi, I prefer MP but haven’t tested them side by side. I am planning to do MP vs Cast on Niche at some point. I sold HU long time ago.

thats user error the pin falling out, it did it to me when i swapped my burrs over, the little pin has a lip that stops it falling through, the plastic housing holds it in place and the burrs hold the plastic, soon as the burrs come off it all moves, glad it was an easy fix

Yes, it happens to be a trivial thing but it costed me so much nerves. It somehow came off without me removing that plastic bit. I sent a photo to Niche immediately and would expect them to advise me better than they initially did. Good thing I haven’t posted my original video 😛

@@mycoffeeshow111 next time your under the plastic part have a look, it comes out so easy once the pressure of the burr comes out, one would presume niche thought it came out from the front, and not the back, with the burrs off lol

I have a DF83 with SSP burrs, but I find the shots to be inconsistent, choking the espresso machine with one shot, then too fast the next. This is despite checking alignment, etc... The Niche Duo was a potential upgrade path, as I can still use my expensive burrs. Is this a bad idea?

@@FatNorthernBigot which ssp burrs do you use? Some might need more seasoning than others. Also depending on which model you have, it might help to check the declumper. As for Niche, it is a solid grinder. I would still prefer DF83V.

Thx. Very good point. I was thinking long and hard about it yesterday. They could told me at the very beginning how to fix it and by now you would be watching a video about MP burrs on Niche. I hope I was fair in explaining the situation. I can change the title of this video, for something less confrontational, just not sure what.
