I've always wondered where my fascination with weapons comes from. The way the parts move on each other. The sound of them clicking, fitting, sliding into the right place. I was afraid that there was a cruel side to us. A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to hold this coffee grinder in my hands and I had the same feeling. That's when I realized that the fascination is for the elegant mechanism and the professional execution. That's what amazes me.

That's about what I experienced with the S3. Very neutral and balanced presentation. The build quality is amazing. The machining of the burrs is incredibly good for a sub $200 grinder. As a whole, the S3 is probably one of the best value hand grinders out there, especially if you can get it on sale. Timemore really looks to be the preeminent Chinese coffee equipment innovator right now.

@@chahahc Thx for sharing your experience. I’m wondering what will be their next, flagship handgrinder.
@chahahc26 күн бұрын
@@mycoffeeshow111 It would be amazing if they made something to dethrone the Pietro. Maybe like adapting a smaller turbo burr style design into a high end brew focused hand grinder. Price it below $300 and they'd have a serious competitor on their hands.
@mycoffeeshow11126 күн бұрын
@@chahahc interesting suggestion. I am not a fan of Pietro because of its size but if done well , it could be an excellent option.
@chahahc26 күн бұрын
@@mycoffeeshow111 Yeah, seems everything about that grinder is subpar and the only thing keeping it relevant is Lance's burr design. So if Timemore could design a smaller burrset comparable in performance to their 078 turbos, which Lance seems to rate even higher than the Pietro, and stick it in an actually well designed body, they'd have a winner.

As someone who drinks 100% espresso this one isn't for me but I enjoyed the video as always! As for preferring the screw on catch cup, I think I might too. It is the only thing about my J-Ultra that I don't love. The only reason, and it is me nit picking, is that because of way the catch cup attaches it is quite large in diameter making it hard to use with portafilters and dosing rings. The screw on counterparts fit down inside a portafilter, making it easier to flip without spilling!

@@mycoffeeshow111 I totally understand. I use my J-Ultra as my go-to grinder a lot for a number of reasons. First, I use it at work with my Picopresso 4 days a week. Also, my wife and I work a 4 day work week so we spend 3 days with my mother in-law and I use it as a travel grinder in that sense, every week. Also, I have the Specialita setup for double ristrettos for milk drinks and find that I tend to enjoy an early evening Allonge and it is just easier to use the J-ultra than to redial in the Specialita every day!

Hej!

try replacing "sourness" with "acidity", at least in positive connotation. say "this coffee is sour" and I'm not interested, sounds like it's gonna taste straight up bad, but tell me it has pronounced acidity and I have no other choice but to imagine how fruity and juicy it must be. otherwise, great video!

Well, I was very disappointed. The design of this grinder is good, but there seems to be no QA. Because they are selling non-functional devices. I had to make several major repairs before using it. The handle was bent at the joint so that it would not click into the correct position. The grinding stones even at the 0 setting had a gap of more than 0.2 mm - a defectively turned shaft.
