Good test. Now what would 1100 RPM translate to wind speed?

Love the sound of the wind turbine on the roof during the vid. I have the same reverberation going on in the cottage here. I kind of like the sound of HP on the roof which is null and void with boring, more productive, solar. Thanks for the vid.

Hello, to use the injection energy meter you only need to reverse the two 220v wires at the input of the board when it is not intended for and reassemble everything to protect yourself from 220v or 110v..... .otherwise it sucks.
@simonmanners41084 жыл бұрын
That seemed to be quite a high voltage when you tested connected to your battery. What are you using for voltage regulation?
@ToysforWatts4 жыл бұрын
No voltage regulation for this test...just let her rip come what may! I think it only got up to about 17vdc...which is a touch high for a 12v battery but not immediately damaging. It wouldn't hold up to that for a long spell but it'd be okay in short bursts.

@@ToysforWatts Out of curiosity what would you use for this turbine for charge control to a 12v battery. It will be interesting to see how it performs output wise. What would you expect RPM wise vs output?

Awesome test. Waiting to see it on the air

For me personally I don't use any kind of control. My batteries are wired up to inverters that drain them flat at all times. It gets wild when the wind is blowing real hard, but most of the time it's okay. It does affect the efficiency some, I'm sure, but it doesn't seem to have a terribly considerable effect. Now, if you're using this turbine to charge batteries, and assuming you like your batteries and want to be nice to them (unlike me), any generic diversion controller would work just fine. Just something to either brake the turbine or add load to the system when voltage exceeds 15v for a certain about of time. There's controllers on eBay and Amazon that do the task for under $100usd.

Hi :) This is the first time I watch a tuerbine test, would you concider this one a good turbine? For the cost, I mean? I was NOT impressed by 128w when the turbine is called i500 ...:P But, its the first test I look at :)

The difference was because your drill runs faster counter clockwise.

Why can't we get a good reliable turbine without spending $1500?

The standard iSta Breeze i1500 and i2000 are easily the best watt to dollar ratios you can get, solid machines.

I'm shocked that reviewer was able to put that much power through the loose connections.

At the last configuration of connections, give the speed as described in the specification, i.e. about 900 rpm for full power. Such turns are possible outside, except during a hurricane. Even then it will be as much as you got on the table. I have a similar turbine which they marked 800W ... The power is the same as yours, only the stickers are changed by fraudsters ...

These small turbines easily meet and exceed 1000rpm. The only turbine I have that doesn't is my Heli 2.0 and even then it's mostly because the blades just won't accommodate that speed. In a 25mph all of my sub-1000w turbines have all had 1000~1500rpm speeds and some did very poorly, some have done very well. My i1500, which I still believe is by a long margin the best turbine you can get for your money on the consumer market, made less that 250w on the bench in the same method I used here. These tests only determine that the turbines are basically functional and give me an idea of what voltage they'll need to be run at. They're performance in the air is typically much better.

@@ToysforWatts Too late found John Daniel's Idaho videos on the site. He tests and recommends good small turbines with the right power of over 100%. If I had known earlier, I would have bought the one I tested .... My, with strong gusts of wind, barely starts charging the 12V battery. Probably the problem is with the magnets (too weak, too small, too large a gap from the stator). If you have the option, change and it will turn out. I will also buy the one he recommends soon and compare the differences. I will try to change, maybe improve it ...

Unfortunately, sometimes some things don't work out as planned. Why that turbine is making such little power I cannot say...all we see is what looks like a turbine that is free-wheeling, and a clip of an inverter display. This turbine may do better, or it may do worse, but I will endeavor to show either way exactly how I have it set up and running. You'll know what size and type of wire I'm using. You'll know what I'm using for control. You'll know the inverter and the battery arrangement and so on. It won't be me saying "hey look it works/doesn't work" and only showing brief clips of opposite ends of the arrangement. That guy had trouble with his and that is really unfortunate, but I don't know how he has his set up...also that video is over five years old and that turbine is physically different from the one I'm currently testing. Models and markets and even manufacturers change over time...it'd be a shame if we were all denied the chance to succeed due to having failed years ago.
@zs62114 жыл бұрын
@@ToysforWatts I agree with you. Unfortunately, I bought my turbine two weeks ago and it also has as poor performance on the table as yours. There is no power on the 9 m mast, but so far there are no strong winds. When the weather improves a little (rain and snow), I take it off and change the magnets from longitudinal to transverse. Instead of 12, it will be 24 and a little thicker. Changing the field more often should give you an earlier increase in voltage ... If you can change the magnets, try ...

What? Small turbines will turn 2000+ in 30mph winds. My i1500 would be running 1500rpm in rated wind, hell even the i2000 is doing 1100+ when it hits 2000w.
