Thanks Dan. Not sure why people give negative ratings …. I believe this a fair and well documented review. The assemble quality is very low, the shaft quality…says it all. I appreciate the time you spent sharing your experience with people from all over the world. Looked at Bergey XAl1 and is about AU$10,000 her in AU - ouch! Cheers, Raz

Yes, very helpful indeed as im looking at purchasing the i-2000 48v version. I think I’ll strip it to give it the once over and a drain groove and hole with spout as well as a look at the magnet attachment and casing sealing….. 2 years in the air before failure isn’t reassuring but hopefully with a few mods I can stretch that out…..many thanks for your post👍

I dont understand the criticism in the comments, istabreeze outperforms any Chinese windturbine. Been running my i1000 for a year now and it is doing great. What people forget is, what inverter? what cable lenght and gauge? what height of the tower? is it free from trees and ground turbulence? I will soon order the i2000 windsafe model because im having some crazy winds here and had to shut down the turbine some times. Today i made 1.5Kwh in 6m/s winds, it usually sits around 1Kwh per day. hoping to dubble that with the i2000

2 to 3 kWh a day, it is impossible to rentabilize this product ! 1500 euros complete i-2000 installation, 0.16 euros/kwh in France, 11 years are needed to rentabilize (if nothing goes wrong). 2 to 3 kWh a day is very low. Solar panels would be much more efficient.

Thanks for the video. I was looking at one of these units. I think they are probably made for West Texas where it doesn't rain much. But I live in NE Oklahoma where it rains a lot. The more I look at wind turbines, the more they seem like inverters. They're both on the edge of failure, just a matter of time. Wow this looks kind of junky to me. Probably what I would consider good quality would cost thousands of dollars. Not sure why that is so. At this point I think I will make my own axial flux type of generator. I have a 10 ton hydraulic gear puller, lol. Something has to give. Too cheaply made for myself, the one you have. The blade hub is worthless if you can't use a puller. If it has to be re-designed and a bunch of lathe work to put O-rings in the case, it's not made well enough. Especially if you have to make a new rotor and shaft. Might as well make the whole thing. They should advertise it as being ideal for a machinist. I already have 1200 watts of solar panels so the wind generator will just be an add on to charge the battery bank in the winter. I have 20 marine batteries so far. If I can get a good wind generator going, I will get four more. If I have to buy one, I am looking at a 1 kw unit from Hurricane wind power. 600 watts would be plenty. Same thing as inverters, about 59 % of rated.

When working, it put out a mere 100W or so in the same winds my Bergey puts out 800W. The moral of the story is buy a quality US made turbine, and you wont be disappointed. Istabreeze wont even provide any data on wind speed vs output. I can see why!

Took my i1500 down to check it. 14 months in the air. Hub came off with puller easily. I did grease the key way and shaft. Maybe that helped. No sign of corrosion on ungreased portion of shaft behind hub. Took nacelle off (tricky). Bone dry. Like new. Back in the air now. Dawdling in about 10 to 15 mph, 150 to 220watts with the odd 300peak. I run my 24v model into a 12v bank to exploit lower wind cut in. Regularly sees 400 to 600w. Best peak was 1100watts last winter (peaks dont matter of course, just daily kwh). Bearing in mind that I'm running into a lower voltage (12v) bank I think that's good. No fancy mppt, just a £13 volt sensing switch ("a30" as seen on Toys For Watts channel) and £15 150amp truck relay. Start dump 14.7v (avoid conflict with solar controller), stop 13.5v. The only other turbine I'm aware off that's half decent is the B and C or Green Energy chinese turbine (500w and 800w models). We can't all afford 10k for a Bergey!

If you stop water getting in then there would be no ventilation. That is another problem. If that was producing 1500watt it would get a little worm and there is no way cool air is going to go through the stator if it is closed at the back end. The Chinese produce items for the moment. They never think of the future and the reverberations when it fails due to bad designing and quality control. Once you lose a client they are lost forever. Good effort with your video at least you are warning other people of the bad product.

Just took my i1500 24v down after 3 years running (NE Scotland, very windy and wet! ). Was expecting a bit of a mess based on this youtube. Pleasantly surprised to see it was like new inside. Exterior paint needs re doing but the innards look perfect. Came apart easily too. No rust at all on the shaft. The stator and rotor look brand new. Not a mark. Just need to change the slip ring as one if the phases is not connecting. Hope to have it back up in a week or two once Xmas is over. Don't know how Dan's one looks so bad. Looks like it's been left outside for years in bits.
