Our real type is the one that we try to keep to ourselves, not show so much to the world, sometimes we're even a bit ashamed of it. We see our flaws and we feel weird about who we are. Therefore for example: An ENFP won't celebrate their weirdness, spontaneity, idealism and bubbliness, if anything they will be trying to pass as some form of STJ especially professionally, so they'll feel more respected etc. An ISTP will try to put mask of someone who's playful, funny, etc when in reality they're very introverted and detached and weird with others. Therefore the smiley talkative guys you see on youtube claiming to be ENFPs are probably ISJs who wish they were ENFPs and all those super serious wannabe INJs are probably some form of SPs.

ISTP! Wow Dave pretty much all of your typing doesn’t align with the majority of other internet sites. You tend to be more in depth though so I usually listen to your thoughts with an open mind. Btw, as an ISFJ I wish growing up that our culture had more positive examples of ISFJ men besides only ones who wear capes, carry magical shields etc and relied on real life attributes.

No. He can tell Adam is an ISTP by this typing process which was explained in older videos. Beyond that, he and Shannon are tracking look similarities among people of the same type, and most of the time this seems to work.

@@lencone As I mentioned, this channel has good content--I know their general typing process. Beyond that, everyone has biases, and they trust in them to draw bogus, potentially harmful connections. We're pattern seeking creatures, but most of us have learned by now not to trust that in every instance, such as in phrenology. It "works" for them because they are in an echo chamber reinforcing their own biases. Don't make the same mistake.

@@coffeefrog I understand what you mean, but see, they're not typing based on phrenology, just commenting that what they're generally seeing is that people with similar types look similarly. If you just come here and say it's disgusting, nothing will change for the better. And maybe you should also refrain from saying things like "How can you tell he's an ISTP? Oh, HIS FACE?" because it doesn't get your point across effectively. Instead, you could bring your arguments with facts to back you up and start a discussion that will improve the typing understanding of everyone.

@@lencone This is a very fair comment and I appreciate the open-mindedness. I'll take a stab at it. I think what some of us are witnessing is what I'd best describe as an 'overconfidence/confirmation-bias' issue. OPS has in the past been more medium in the flavor, but recently, the aggressive knee-jerk reactions towards any criticism, the dismissal of all other typology systems as "astrology", and the "This is this person's type, end of story. You're not as smart as us, we're doing ACTUAL work here" has been rubbing people the wrong way. Originally, OPS was mostly about education, and it was superb when it stuck to that territory in my opinion. But Dave's need for certainty (supposed Ni-Fi, consume last, OPS definitions) has led to an increasingly aggressive stance that dismisses any information that goes against his premade conclusions. Asserting that someone is an ESFJ or ISTP despite the fact that OPS definitions (Fi, Ti, etc.) are not universal and dismissing feedback from others as 'ignorant garble muttered by the intellectually inferior' is overconfident and tunnel-vision like. This is especially so since OPS is built off of cognitive functions that the community more or less shares. Ni-Fi, in my opinion, is one of the most dangerous convergent functions to have in an echo-chamber because there is active discomfort in being inconclusive. Contrast this to Nathan Glass's videos, or even Harry from CPT, who are comfortable with being more patient and cerebral. This would be less of an issue if Shan had Ne/Ti, but she only exacerbates the problem because she basically only agrees with Dave (self-described as Se-Te convergent, with Ni-Fi demon) Here is a recent video from Nathan and you can see a monumental difference between Ni-Fi and Ti-Ne. Dave seems to believe that his imbalance is something along the lines of "I can't handle paperwork!" but in reality, it's more that he's overconfident and jumps to conclusions in order to feel emotionally secure and in control. ​@@coffeefrog Well, actually I am critical of a lot of the things OP says and disagree with quite a lot of their typings. However, I have also observed the same general trend of things like how the EJ, IP, EP faces look myself before having heard OP basically thinks the same about them. I think it's important to understand that a lot of things like phrenology have a bad reputation and are pushed to be called 'pseudo science' while things like MBTI are also dismissed as pseudoscience. However, it's likely if you observe reality you can see that the core of the typology concepts like mbti, OPS and such are true too, despite being also being dismissed as 'pseudo science' I think the biggest problem with the whole concepts that are related to looks and personality is that they are just seen as politically incorrect and thus people are learned not to trust their intution even though they might see the relationship between things, if they were not taught to ignore it. Also, there are alot of people who themselves just feel morally against the idea against the idea of a relationship between them, even if there is one. However, just because people do not want there to be a relationship between them, of course does not mean there is none. I would not be surprised if that when people in the past people were digging into the subjects of how looks and personality were related, that people in politics figured that if looks and personality are related, this would literally create a social political problem . What if for example different groups of people would turn out on average to have different strenghs and weakness? Let's say different ethnicities would have different strengths and weaknesses? Would everyone stil feel like they have equal oppertunity? This of course would make this a very touchy subject. However, this does not deny there might be truth in it.
