From an INFP: he's INFP as hell. He's all the time haunted by the idea of being misunderstood. And perfectionist in an dreamy way, as if all has to be in line with his feelings and flairs. The social pain, the over-feelind and over-thinking everything, jumping from self-criticism to self-righteousness, the insecurity about sharing one's ideas, the theorizing and abstracting every concept. The romantic way in which he talks about art, truth and perception, subjectivizing everything and critical of all the evil in the world. The thing with the hands is a performance. We do it because we struggle with putting what we envision out in the world with mere words, as we are aware it comes from abstract thoughts checked with both internal emotions and data we store with suspicion.

I definitely agree, he's very sensitive and self-conscious about his image, and takes a lot of things personally. And he's absolutely an N. From how people describe his work process - while he is detailed and a perfectionist, he's very abstract in how he conveys his ideas and also intuitive. Like him describing a vibe he wants for the song as "a homeless guy who cleaned up a little" haha

dude i've had existential crises because of the realizations i've had after figuring out that Julian is not an INFP but his life's work is the most relatable thing to me that's even out there. i realized that if he comes off as what i am on the inside, i must come off as something else and i truly feel disgusted with myself because it makes me feel like a poser fraud. fuck man

I'd like you (if you would, would you please) to review cognitive functions (dom, aux, tert, inf) of the purported MBTI type, at the beginning, before the interview, so we know what to look for. Despite my years learning MBTI I can't easily toss around the cognitive functions of each type (ex. ENTJ, ISTP) in my head to differentiate, like the typologists can. For me this is an interesting type. I believe my brother-in-law is an ISTP. He's a Gulfstream aeronautical engineer (TiSe). He's a nice quiet guy, but when I come over he won't come and greet me (inferior Fe) on my arrival, but yet he'll chat up the mechanic guy at the little engine shop for a whole half hour.

Idk about classifications, necer heard those terms before and dont care about them, but I thought we were similar because i resonated so much with his music, but now that i see him talk and stuff it kinda scares me just how much i have in common with him. When i say scary,i mean after some research i found out he might also be BPD as i am and suffers from alot of depression and masks it with selfdestructive behaviour, plus his last album came out about the same time i got my divorce which insanely coincides whith him also getting divorced....i hope he never kills himself cuz if he does then who'se gonna give me hope that im strong enough to live anymore? I mean there is green day for when i feel maniac but i need Julian for when i feel down

I am always reminded how much my mbti type is hated when I read the comments. Lol Anyone considered awesome is usually an automatic infp, intp, entp, enfp or intj. How dare anyone be smart or cool and be an istp like me because we are just stupid mechanics with no social skills, right? Having a place to check where someone's type is voted on by userbase doesn't make it accurate. In fact, I have seen people with the most common types outweigh votes in their own type's favor for that individual. It was rendered incorrect. Or they used their numbers to change it from another type to theirs and made it a competition to do so. So watch what site you trust in regards to that information.

I think site where people mistype themselves or others can be beneficial if they provide the “how” they got to their final thought. It’s annoying when sites lack justification as to why they chose a certain type.

as for the gestures, i'm italian and allll of us use big gestures, that doesn't mean we all use "se", i don't really think you should put too much focus on that to type someone

I definitely also see him using Ti along with Intuition. However, he could be using Ti with Ni (rather than Ti with Ne), which would make him an ISTP (or INFJ). Many ISTPs are a lot more abstract than they are stereotyped to be.

Wrong. Julian Casablancas is ISFP! He has Fi dom (extremely obvious), not Ti dom (hardly any Ti at all), Fi doms do NOT value Ti at all, in fact they disdain Ti, and are all in their subjective Fi feelings. Julian in his Fi all the time, in fact he is pretty fckn' moody. You can also tell he has deep emotions & emotional understanding which ISTPs do not (Fi demon, in fact ISTPs disdain Fi feelings). He is an ISP tho, both ISFPs and ISTPs share middle functions: Se aux, Si critic, Ni child, Ne blind. Both ISPs are heavily influenced by their cultural backgrounds/upbringing due to Si critic. But in main ego orientation they are completely different Fi dom-Te inf vs Ti dom-Fe inf (as different as it gets). You want a famous ISTP singer example? Look at Dimash Kudaibergen. You'll see the difference (as well as similarities with overlappin middle functions, namely physical mastery...more technically developed in Dimash in this case, less subject to Fi whims).

I still think he’s a Ti dominant because the high Fe interviewer allows him to freely express his inferior Fe without feeling reprimanded for it. Ti doms that tip toe around Extroverted Feeling can come across Fi because the anxiety of offending people makes them softer with their delivery. He is a musician; therefore, his feeling function will be more developed, especially being in a band.

ISFP/ISTP but he gives off to me an ISFP/INFP vibe that’s why he’s so disconnected moody wanting to be original unique to himself ... not straightforward or vocal. ISTP’s never shut up so when he’s talking I can see the Ti come out but he’s not that communicative always, I don’t think he is in these subtypes: ESFP’s would be more annoying wanting attention acting out maybe when he was younger, and ISFJ lol no maybe this phase when he was a kid.

Istps never shut up? Istps barely even talk. They’re really hard to talk to in my experience, because they’re not willing to make chit chat unless you ask them something specific and something worth answering.
