@@christiancarter255 ;) We actually get along really well! It was a little rough in the beginning because I couldn't read him AT ALL. I stuck it out, though, because there was something different about him. We've been together well over a decade now. I've learned over the years that, IMO, ISTPs are the best type. I've learned so much just by watching how he handles stressful situations. I don’t think ISTP are stubborn at all. They are just one of the most logical people. If you want them to do something they need to understand the reasonings and logic behind it. If you can explain your logic to ISTP, you will find that they are the most co-operative, easy going people ever and can change their mind in an instant. If you can’t explain your logic then you’re illogical so why should anyone, not just ISTP, listen to you anyway? So its not stubborn because stubborn is unwilling to change no matter what reasons. ISTP can change their mind in an instant if you use proper logic and reasonings with them. I think ISTP got falsely labelled as stubborn from these illogical people who uses their emotions more than logical thinking. They don’t want to admit they are illogical people so they blamed it on ISTP as being stubborn instead. Sadly, the majority of people in the world are like these, more emotions than logic. Take a Guess at where most of the problems in this world originated from? I personally have a nickname for these illogical people... “idiots”

I believe with young ISTPs, what they need is someone patient, understanding, faithful and doesn't give up on them even when they push away. I'm experiencing this with my on/off younger ISTP boyfriend. He keeps calling us off and getting back on for half a year. But this time he seems really set on wanting to emotionally/socially mature first.

@@crossXFaed yeah true, they need to feel totally safe
@crossXFaed3 жыл бұрын
@@larapunk3532 Yes, I think feeling "secure" and "perfectly ready" are good expressions to use. But what I admire in my ex is that instead of rejecting bonds completely seeing it as a hassle, he actually expresses desire in wanting to build on his emotional/social skills to experience that love he misses out on. Sadly his problem solving, efficiency leaning and immediate nature makes him feel it's more beneficial to build these skills away from me and practice with less intimate connections instead. It doesn't help we're currently limited in first person interactions due to COVID, etc. In my ex's case, he really would prefer if I could be available up close on a constant basis. Flexibility and adaptability in intimate relationships are something he struggles to adopt because of the emotional/intimate aspects that ISTPs generally struggle to communicate back and forth in.

I'm ISTP, used to be really shy but I've always wanted to turn my weaknesses into strengths so I started singing karaoke in public and got a sales job. Point being we can overcome our natural weaknesses (or at least me, can't generalize). Also, equally proficient at being a nerd and jock. I was always trying to hide my double agent life from these two sects (who hated each other) in school. On any given day I could be playing Yugioh in the library with my nerd friends, dominating in basketball with my more sporty friends or reading a book by myself. One word would probably be multifaceted. Still don't know if I'm a robot acting like a person or a person acting like a robot. It can literally change by the minute. From warm and helpful, to cold and dangerous if provoked. Anybody else relate? Comment a brief bio of you as an ISTP. Also, great video. Super accurate for the most part.

They're not the best at communicating their emotions verbally, especially in the moment. It took me a whole week away from the tension to review the first rocky six months I spent with my ex. You need to learn what makes them tick, and what ticks them off. They either need to be willing to communicate with you, and/or you have to be willing to make that extra effort to understand their inner workings with time and observation spent.

I am good with fixing and assembling stuff though. IKEA instructions are good enough. - I hate teamwork with loose deadlines. Give me a deadline. I will get it done in perfection. Just don't rush me, update me, or ask me about it, and let me procrastinate. - If someone cries, whines, or acts generally immature or rude you're not in my life anymore. I married at the moment but I noticed now when I talk to people I'm straightforward. More like "what's your business with me" Type of attitude and just get on with my life afterward. Got no time for people. Bullshit when I talk to my wife I show her a lot of loving emotion but the moment she does something I don't like. I just go stone cold but she gets it. She fucked up I'm not here to make no one's life harder. I'm just trying to make it easier for myself and everybody else if they're willing to listen

@VTdarkangel4 жыл бұрын
You may very well be an ISTP. The question is do you have personal reasons and logic for your choices or do you base your choices on how you personally feel about things? Most ISTPs are male, but not exclusively so. Don't assume that you're ISFP simply because you are female.

They mention fearing commitment (basically flakiness) in the video
@nodozhit5 жыл бұрын
@@morningstarhomestead you might be on to something but flakiness is such a strong word to relate to not wanting to commit to other folks' whims; and word is bond. ISTPs like me, might be the worst kind of people to lean on for unconditional emotional support but in my defense, I try to be a man of my word. That's important to me. If I say I will, then that's what I'm ready, willing, and able to commit to doing. ISTPs like me, live in the moment and are very flexible. Therefore we get caught up in the moment and lose track of time quicker than others but we also can adjust and catch up quicker too. Personally, I pride myself on being dependable and even transparent, but I do not spread myself thin. As a matter of fact, I'm more like "out of sight out of mind." And I don't wallow in how someone else might feel about me not spending extra time lounging with them because ISTPs like to do their own thing anyway with no holds barred and move on quickly

If this is accurate im thinking i just started out on the wrong foot and jumped to conclusions based on one istp, cause this sounds almost exactly like the kind of person ive said i want to be with, i dont want to rely too much on others and i dont want others to rely too much on me, id like someone who could do their own thing while i do my own thing and just kinda be in the same space at least when thats where we happen to be for whatever it is we're doing. The problem i had with said istp was that they tended to not feel the need to explain themselves, that is... they would say things that to me were reduced to a point where they could mean all sorts of different things but they wouldnt explain/define exactly what it was they implied by it when they used it. And likewise they said that they didnt get anything from what i wrote which i could say the same for them, whatever all it was, perhaps the focus on personal observation and connections with no real proof and using more abstract or intuitive leaps of logic which might be meaningless to someone else, or more the lack of structure in my thought and writing. I need to meet and get to know more istps before i can really say much more, i am finding it interesting how similar we are though in a sense despite being seeming opposites, in socionics we would have the conflict intertype relation, your top two functions are my bottom two and same the other way around, your dominant function is my blind spot and mine is yours, as well your secondary function is my "demon" function which is supposed to be like the most disliked out of all.. but also perhaps where part of where ones urges or habits lie. But thats just the relation between istps and enfps. I probably made that kinda about me but i dont know anything else to add, and omes view is kinda informed by ones relationship with that type functionally, i tend to much more naturally like isfps,its entps that ive heard be more down with istps, so i probably wont say much more untill i learn more... unless i do, then ill write paragraphs :| I could probably think a bit more on it and speculate based on functions, i do know i*n*tps pretty well i think and a little about is*f*ps, but if so itll be later copy pasted from a writing program. I thought this was gonna be short but here i go again.

@@WadWizard I like your insight and can agree with you overall. And I hope you feel free to lay it all out whenever. Regardless what is or isn't relative to the different personality types, we can still learn a lot from one another. Understanding one another an applying knowledge is what I think is the key to the cultivation and contingency of our collective consciousness. We are all emotional beings living a spiritual experience. Some of us are just a little more in tuned than others. But once an individual fellow figures out his own keys to inner balance, he will be able to wholly see how he fits in perfectly and how we're all connected, regardless. By the way, I'm into all that astronomical philosophically theoretical soul searching for the big picture meaning of Mankind's ability to manipulate the manifestations of mastery of everything that the universe offers us. And life is like contributing to the chronicles of the greatest story ever told. On one page, you'll see the ISTPs as the naturally gifted opportunists who can thrive off reacting to sensually sensational stimulations. And seizing the moment is what distinguishes ISTPs as the free flowing spirits. While on the other page, ENFPs intuitively know and can perceive themselves as the true free spirits. But, they are motivated by constantly seeking out emotional stimulation and instant gratification in any given moment. But the only way we all will find our own individual balance and pivotal point is by tapping into our own inner polar opposition and inclinations. For instance, I still have to try really hard to stay tapped into sticking with any of long term commitments or plans that I set for myself. So I focused on strengthening my judging function using more discernment about what's at stake if I don't follow through. I also try to manage my time in leisure or social outings by self evaluating hypotheticals beforehand. I believe that and doing what I think would make my -deceased- grandmother proud of me is what helps strengthen my intuition function and keeps me overall focused on my short term goals. And while I'm around others or just out and about in social settings, I try my best to be as mindful and considerate of others as I can be (without being a doormat or a tool, of course). This attitude allows me to easily tap into my feeling and extroverted functions. Basically, what I'm saying is that since it's easier for me to shut my mind off in the manner of just relying upon my senses and focusing my attention outwardly, I have to consciously tap into negating my ISTP tendency to get caught up in the flow of the moment that's pretty much derived from ISTPs' strong sensing/perceiving functions. And that forms more of an introverted reaction to being in the here and now than it is in comparison to making the solid decisions like those personality types with strong intuitive/judging functions that tends to counteract instead. On another note, if you can humor me and imagine watching the movie "Forest Gump" with the volume down for a reference point, I think you will see Forest Gump as an excellent example of a simple ISTP personality type. And I believe Jenny would be an excellent example of a distressed female ENFP.
