It’s the same on Forza Motorsport, but the 4 speed is actually quite good because the PI system loves it lol. It feels like it’s not pulling because the RPMs sound low but it’s actually quite quick

Yeah that stock gear box wasnt cutting it for me so I had to throw the race one in. Still got it to push over 500 hp and can hit 200 if the track allows. Only thing is I had to throw the rally tyres on so it's basically a dirt/snow car.

They based the gearing off of the 4 speed auto (700-R4) as the 4-speed manual was out of production by 1990. The 700-R4 was built (geared) with mpg in mind.

Ahhh yes, the early 4L60 days before it became a somewhat better 4L60E. It could be a th400 or Turbo 400, which i believe is basically the predecessor to the 4L60, but with such a horrible gear ratio lineup and like a 2.73 final drive, so yea its gearing sucks, especially for the 200 some horsepower the stock 350 tune port had. Yet a 305 could come with a manual transmission and had about the same power🤷

In all fairness, the 4-speed actually pairs well with the stock engine's broad, flat powerband. With peak power from ~4k to ~5.5k RPM (with the stock cam), the 4-speed is sufficient to keep it above 94% max bhp at almost all speeds.

The 700R4 has really wide ratio changes. Why didnt you put a fully adjustable trans in it with T56 gear ratios Sonnax makes a real life kit that changes it to a close ratio trans. It goes from a 3.06 1st gear and 1.62 2nd gear ratio, to a 2.84 1st gear and 1.55 2nd gear ratio. Its much better
