Hi Nic love your vids. Am looking at an MUX in the next few days. I used to run a rally car years ago, we used to cut a jubilee clamp (hose clamp) and run a self tapper screw into the back of our lights and back into the grille somewhere. This stopped the lights shuddering, also gave a bit of adjustment, worked well,cheers

Great review Nick. I just picked up my 2019 MU-X this weekend. I would say that your channel really was a huge factor in me looking seriously at the Isuzu over a second hand Prado. I am really enjoying it so far and have subscribed so I can perhaps accomplish some of your mods down the track. Quick question and sorry If it is in a video I have not discovered yet. Did you do anything to your exhaust or is it stock standard? Is there a reason to consider an aftermarket exhaust on the MU-X in your opinion? Thanks mate and keep up the great content. I love your channel.

Thanks alot 😊 Great choice getting an Mu-x. My exhaust is stock standard. You won't see much gain fitting an exhaust to the DPF models. No real gain in sound and very minimum performance gain if anything. 😊

Hi mate I'm after some info if you don't mind me asking. I use my 2016 mux for towing my caravan and I want to put a DP chip on just for the big hills here in the blue mountains and for overtaking on the long drags out West should I change the factory exhaust system to 2and quarter inch cause people say they 3"is to big for the turbo and that I'll end up having my turbo over boost .they tell me the 3"is fine in the big v8 cruisers but not for the 3 ltrs mux .any info you got would help I'm a bit lost with it all .help🤔
@LowRangeNick4 жыл бұрын
You will see very minimal gains if any from fitting an upgraded exhaust system. If you want the extra noise then go for it, performance wise there isn't much power gain fitting an exhaust. Don't fit a DP chip. They are just a rail chip and cannot be tuned precisely, they can cause majour issues. Get an Ecu=shop super 4 or ultra boost. You will get great performance gains and still keep the engines longevity.

Do you have any performance tunes etc? When you say 'gone', what was happening? We have a 2018 model - from the end of the run. Fine so far. 20K. Also, do you let it cool after running it hard? I typically do 1m before shut off for local easy driving. And up to around 5mins if e.g. I've just driven up a mountain. We also change the oil every 7500ks. This helps as the turbo shares the same oil.

@LowRangeNick4 жыл бұрын
@@gregmilthorpe5459 It is a common issue for dpf model 2017-on mu-x and d-max. They had a faulty batch of turbos. The turbo will make a loud siren type noise when boosting, this indicates the bearing is noisy and it will need replacing. I would say if your vehicle has not had any issues in over 50k with turbo noises or boost issues then your turbo will be fine and you didnt get one out of the bad batch.

You can go up 50mm in diameter from the biggest stock diameter (could be from a different model to yours). To work it out, Google "tyre calculator". Then enter your stock specs and change it to mm. Once you have this, try out other options you're keen on. You need to keep the extra under 50mm. As Nick says, 32" are the biggest allowed for an Isuzu Mux. I believe you can go bigger, but you have to pay big $$$ for engineering and certification. Btw, the Australian specs specifically say this doesn't apply to "soft roaders". The max increase for them is 18mm. This made me lol. Gotta love Australia.
