Once you master every engine move with this gambit you will be unstopable
@allanmarks21504 жыл бұрын
SureRox - I am curious to know how many lines of play a player would need to master, to actually master every engine move for this gambit. 100, 300? I would think mastering 100 lines of play would be challenging but doable. And 300 lines of play would be too many lines of play to try to master.

Actually, no.After ..Nxc3, bxc3, ..d5 Black is just a pawn up, and White is the one fighting for a draw.

How about this: Nakhmanson Gambit, popularized by Schrantz? If Jon keeps doing it so much, it might even make a case saying so on the Wikipedia page, and Jon will make legit chess history.

Thanks for sharing a video of when it doesn't work. Obviously with gambits people are reluctant to share defeats, but you are a true scholar. Thank you.

This is actually why gambit lines are better in rapid or even classical than blitz for most players. When I play something like the Latvian or some lines of the King's Gambit get a good position and usually have a chance to win, but accurate dynamic play takes more calculation than making sensible development moves. One wrong move and you lose.

Knight blocks is actually one of the hardest lines. After rook to g8, the engine gives Queen to d6 with bishop f5 to follow. It's not obvious what the benefit is, but I find that pragmatically, it invites mistakes as there's no obvious good move for black (no one's going to find the subtle g4 to get their rook out) so they're likely to take on b2, which is a huge blunder as it gives white the initiative , given that it already has such a strong hold on the position with attacking pieces so close to the king.

Can you look at 6. Nc3 Nd6? I'm a scotch gambit player and I tried to play the Nakhmanson in 1500 elo Lichess rapid game. My opponent played this move which is recommended by the lichess engine! I looked at it in analysis board and it looks like white is simply worse after this.
@norbertwiesner5694 жыл бұрын
This is the problem with this gambit, if black doesn't play 6... dxc3, but 6... Nd6 (or 6... Nxc3) the attack doesn't work. After 6. Nc3 Nd6 white could play something like 7. Qe2+ Be7 8. Nd5 Nxc4 9. Qxc4 O-O 10. Nxd4 Nxd4 11. Qxd4, but with a pawn down this is not what you went for with this gambit. Since everybody knows about this gambit, then it will not be a sharp weapon anymore.

@@jaggedben - Thank you. Interesting. Do you draw arrows when you play online, or do you know of players who draw arrows when playing online? I have no idea how to draw arrows. Is drawing arrows a feature of online chess sites, or is there some software program that Johnathan has on his computer, that allows him to draw arrows. Maybe I should try the experiment of drawing arrows when playing online.
