Laughing at the evaluation: Stockfish:"Black is up lots of material!" Leela:"But overally it's nearly equal!". Few moves later, Stockfish:"Oh, black is getting checkmated in few moves..." Leela:"But overally, it's nearly equal!"

This is the amazing part about chess nowadays. Even though engines can perfectly evaluate 99% of positions, there are still these positions which engines on decent computers can't understand at all. It's such a deep opening that we'd need likely depth 40-50 to analyze this correctly. Other than that it comes down to intuition and maybe a bit of luck to play these positions with correct play.

I LOVE the nahkmanson cause it's so mysterious. It's so fun to see positions where even engines are puzzled. Most chess positions are completely understood by engines, and that makes the nahkmanson so exciting

What if, just what if Nakhmanson is the way chess is solved, that white is definitely winning in depth 100? Jonathan schrantz would be the God of chess, we'll have temples and churches and whatever erected in his name with Jamie as the "guardian God" or whatever to Jonathan's shrine... I merely want to get an honorable plaque in my name on the gates of Schrantz temple...

But that assumes black plays the right opening to even allow a Nakhmanson to be possible. One opening can't solve chess. Black can go caro kann or Berlin or Sicilian whatsoever.

Leela is showing the winning chances instead of points, at least its counting the winning chances not the position+material :) - if all the possible lines are winning for white (a mating option) it will show 128 or 1024 something like that so it is better as it counts the possible players moves that the player might blunder into them :)

It also seems to understand the position much better than stockfish 11(or that version of lc0) so you might want to try it but I there should be some lines that it doesn't see the correct moves or it takes a while for it to find it.

10:34 rook takes e7 would have been sweet. Pinning the queen to the king and the knight to the queen. Also taking with check thwarts bishop discovery on white queen. Edit: turns out it's not that great since it's not winning back enough material. Although chess.com says it's roughly even.

Black could have played Bishop to D6, so he can play Queen to E7, to provoke white playing Rook to E1. He then doubles up with Rook to E8. I check some scenarios, black should be good.
