Don't forget you need 2 rooms for all your backlog of subscription boxes! 🤣🤪 If you guys aren't sure on kids, pls don't let a Dr try and talk you into one saying the pregnancy helps with endometriosis etc. 20 yrs ago it happened to me. I stood up for myself and stood my ground saying we weren't planning on kids so 4 months after I turned 29 the Dr finally agreed to do a hysterectomy. Keep standing up for you! thank you for being so open! You are helping people more than you know! I was stage 3 so I can't imagine 4! Best of luck! Jeanne

Great confirmation for all of us to advocate for ourselves at the doctor's office. I tend to have this 'oh, I don't want to be a bother' attitude that hasn't served me well. Actually, I don't think it helps others either. So happy little Tatter is doing well after the raisins. 🐾💙

fun fact (?), chocolate is toxic at about the same rates it is for humans as it is for dogs! the rule of thumb is 2 oz per pound of milk chocolate, 1 oz per pound of dark chocolate to get into trouble. it's just that uhhhh. we don't. we don't really eat 150 oz. of dark chocolate in one go. whereas a 12 pound dog can actually eat like 12 oz of dark chocolate, since that's an amount of chocolate you'd actually have and be able to buy. white chocolate tho is totally fair game, it only contains the cocoa butter and not the chocolate solids so eat as much as you want and feed your dog as much as you want LOL

It depends on the size of the dog too. I’ve got a 5lb pup who cannot get more than a handful of Hershey kisses without being in danger, but my childhood 67 lb dog was totally fine (aside from being a bit disoriented) after eating a massive larger-than-king-sized amount of chocolate.

I'm so proud of you for advocating for yourself at the doctor! It can be really hard to do that, especially since your doctor doesn't seem like the most, shall we say, communicative person in the world😅 Before my husband passed, we would always go in to each other's appointments just to advocate for each other and make sure nothing got passed over or forgotten. If you have a hard time speaking up at the doctor, don't be afraid to bring someone you trust right into the exam room with you, it can really help!!

@@rtre957 I wouldn't say easily, but yes, taking the correct medication sure does help, no matter what your condition is. Of course, if that's not something you support, that's fine, not everyone's the same. But for some of us, medication was and is a litteral life-saver. People can either judge me because I'm nearly non-functional and depressed about it or they can judge me because I use a medication that helps me focus, which lets me to thrive and be a fully functional person. The choice is not difficult for me to make, I'll take happiness and thriving every time.

In university my roommates' 60-pound lab ate an entire box, box and all, of Claritan. I had no car, so poison control talked me through inducing vomiting with a bottle of peroxide. It was awful, but he pulled through and roommate came home and we taxied to the emergency vet. Which luckily her parents covered with their credit card, because it was $$$$. It is so scarey, glad you got through it! Poor Tadder!

I was once watching some lovely, crazy beagles for a close family friend. I left my purse at the house while I went out to get dinner with my partner. I came back and I realized they had gotten into my bag (they had never done that before!) and they had pulled out my bag of cacao drink mix and eaten a quarter of it. Cue me having to call their mom with a terrible pit in my stomach and her walking me through the process of inducing vomiting with peroxide. Having to wrangle those wild and wriggly beagles resulted in me pulling a lot of muscles in my back and shoulders. My partner was an absolute saint throughout the whole experience even though he ended up staying there for hours longer than we had originally planned for after dinner. Everyone was okay in the end, but I will never forget it.

I've had a couple dogs who ate chocolate, which wasn't fun! The worst was a 6 lb Chihuahua who ate 6 rising dinner rolls. We thought the tray was out of reach, but she figured out how to grab it. About 15 minutes after she ate them, we noticed she looked a bit bloated. Yeah, rising dough is REALLY bad for any dog, but for a tiny dog, yikes! We called our emergency vet and they had us induce vomiting with peroxide. That pup was so stubborn about throwing up (in general), that it took 30 minutes to get all of them out. I have no idea how she even fit them into her tummy in the first place. Thankfully, she was fine after, though we did have to do 2 weeks of a bland chicken/rice/broth diet until her stomach shrank back to normal size.

So I can explain the pet poison control thing! I used to work at an animal ER. You are not just paying to speak to the poison control people. Once the poison control people speak to you, they come up with a detailed and unique treatment plan and communicate that to the vet staff. Then the poison control folks remain available to speak to your vet staff during the entire case to make recommendations in case something changes. Toxicity is so tricky and so specific and poison control are the experts.

My vet clinic (UK) are the ones that call poison control, pay the fee and talk to the phone people 🤔 otherwise it can end up as a hesaid-shesaid thing. There’s a yearly membership and you get a big discount on repeat calls 😅 But they don’t call for common things like raisins and chocolate in normal healthy dogs. (Also my only phone call the poison lady was a bit - IDK. obscure medication is not in the book🤷‍♀️might be fine? Might not? )

Years ago I used to be a dog groomer. There was a springer spaniel that came in one time named Rafer. He and his mom jogged 3 miles from home to our shop so he would be tired out and behave. He was always a good boy just too much energy lol. Well this time I hear and saw this projectile vomit coming out of his cage before it was his turn. I immediately got him outside to get it out and in looking at the mess I see there are cupcake wrappers and chicken bones. Lots and lots of wrappers and bones. We call the let mom and she discovered he had gotten into and eaten 29 chocolate cup cakes that were for her daughter’s classroom and he got into the trash for the chicken. He was okay but that was so scary for his mom.

Almost same thing happened. I was sick a month ago (haven't been sick in very long time). I had an appointment with the doctor Dr and decided to leave my senior dogs out of their kennel because had no energy. I was doing self remedies that included tea, honey, vapor rub on feet with onions. I threw the socks away in the bag was tossing tissues in. I really was so sick that I couldn't think straight. I came home to see torn up tissues and the socks with no onions. I honestly didn't have any money and didn't know what to do. I cried and called a friend who was willing to meet me at the emergency vet. My dogs never got sick or reacted and turned out to be okay. But I was truly devastated, but grateful they were okay. It happens, but we just have to be hyp aware that they get into anything at anytime. I'm glad the babies are okay!😊❤ You are not alone in this.

Talk therapy really helped me take that step as well as with other anxiety & depression. I think it it’s a nice compliment to medication. And it’s it a lot easier now since it can be done online. Last thing, our doggie (now 10!) managed, as a 3 month old puppy, to find 2 raisins underneath a cabinet on the kitchen floor. My daughter & I ( both crying) rushed her to vet hospital & she had to stay overnight. Poor little baby had been with us less than a week & likely thought we had given her back to the shelter 😢. The vet normally consults with poison control once the patient is presented to them. Poison control employs board certified toxicologists that advise ER vets (who are not toxicologists) on the best treatment plan. And, unfortunately, since pet poison control is not government subsidized (like human poison control), they have to charge a fee to keep offering the service. And since it's over the phone, they need to collect payment first, or else people would just hang up after getting the information. It's not a scam, it's just the reality of healthcare with no government funding.

I thought the same thing when my puppy got ahold of a prescription pill. I was mad at first but then I learned what Morgan ^ shared and after I calmed down, it made more sense. Dogs are so different than humans who have a huge amount of healthcare support and research to help our providers take the best care of us. It sucks but it’s like that to make sure our fur babies make it in a crisis. Thankfully mine did. The vet was super honest with me and told me that she might not have if I had waited any longer or had not found her eating the medication. It was an empty capsule(it’s extended release and sometimes I only need half the dose)but even just the tiny bit of residue that was left could’ve killed her since it was vyvanse. 😭 Dogs can get into so many things and each “toxin” is different and needs a unique approach. That being said, it was quite possibly the worst night of my life aside from having miscarriages. I really thought I was going to lose her and it would’ve been my fault. I still have no idea how she got the capsule. I’ve taken more precautions now though. She’s only 3 pounds so it wouldn’t take much. 😭

Just a little observation about your meds (not a Dr, but been on psych meds for 15+ years). They basically have you on two 'uppers.' If your Wellbutrin is the XL version, that stays in your system for 24 hours. For some, not everyone, this can exacerbate the amphetamine effects of the Adderall. If you have trouble sleeping, ask your doc for the regular version of Wellbutrin.

In the next 8 weeks, I have an appointment with my regular doctor, the dentist, having my first bone density scan (I'm in my early 50s), the ophthalmologist, having a colonoscopy (colon cancer runs in my family), the dermatologist, and the gyno. Good times! (UGH) I've always been of the opinion that I'd rather go to the Doctor and find something early, than not go to the Doctor and wish I had. Do I love it? No. Do I find many physicians a bit difficult to communicate with? Absolutely. By the way, my father is a retired Doctor, and my mom was a Nurse. I wish I could say that makes dealing with the system any easier, but these days especially, it does not. High credit to you for taking care of yourself and going and being self-aware enough to be able to talk about what your concerns and priorities are to your physician. Sometimes you have to try a couple things before something is a good fit for your system. Sometimes you also have to try a few doctors before you find one that listens to you and helps you appropriately! Thanks for sharing, too, it is encouraging to many out here on the other side of the screen. xo

I really appreciate you talking about your adhd. I have struggled my whole life with it. It has only gotten worse in the last year. I’m finally going to get the help I need. My hubby also asked me to get help last week. So here I go on this adhd journey with you. ❤

When I got my first anxiety medication I also had the thought of "Is this how normal people feel?" Like, my head was not buzzing like a beehive with activity, I could concentrate better and do tasks. So I know how it feels! :)

So happy to hear your meds are helping. I know my son really needs them. I get a lot of pushback for having him on them but knowing that it is helping you really strengthens my decision to keep him on meds. PS. Poor Tater. My cat has done the same thing and I was a wreck. He is still alive and well at 15 years old and still tries to steal my Flaming Hot Cheetos every chance he can get.

My Samoyed (60ish lb dog) ate out of a few raisin canisters and boxes many years ago. We had no idea it was toxic and he was fine each time, but 100% you did the right thing especially for poor Tater with all his conditions. I’m certain I also have adhd but I’d be too scared to take medication to resolve it (I don’t even take aspirin but I’m not opposed to physical health-necessary medications for myself) but I’m happy for you that it’s working out. Not shading at all to be clear I’m just scared of potential side effects for myself

I love that you share your journey with medicine. I have been on paxil since about November. And I have been feeling the same way for the last few months. I am always so tired and unmotivated. And just no energy to do anything. I feel like I should have the same conversation with my doctor. So thank you!!

Hi Alexandria, I have quite severe ADHD and could never go back to the way I was before getting diagnosed and treated. I still have anxiety but it's nothing compared to how it used to be. I think you have made the right choice in advocating for yourself to get treated for the ADHD. Anxiety is caused a lot by untreated ADHD. Also, I just wanted to mention that I have been subscribed to your channel for years and live it. Jackie

Hey Alexandria. I was thinking about the problem with the moldings in the house, and the problem with the tracks on the closet doors. Sometimes, you can get stuff like that fixed as part of the purchase. You tell them the sale depends on if they will fix them. Can't hurt to try! xoxo

Im so proud of you for being your advocate! You did so good! I know this struggle well, im about the same age as you and have been diagnosed with life changing diagnosis. ADHD was so helpful and i noticed immediate calm. My OCD diagnosis made my intense anxiety make sense. You are so kind and polite and you were heard by your doctor. Really, i am so proud of you!❤

I’m so sorry to hear about Tater! That poor little guy has been through so much 😢 Thankfully he’s doing ok now❣️ Also sorry to hear about your Dads best friend 😢 It’s so hard to lose someone so close and then to have to pass by his house all the time would be even sadder. I’m happy that you might have finally found a house because it seems like it’s definitely time to move! I hope it all works out for you and you can finally spread out more and hopefully get a handle on your boxes lol I love your videos and I’m sure hoping your new medication helps you focus and get all the things done that you’ve been wanting to do. That I’m itself is anxiety inducing for sure!!

I am so happy you were straight with your Dr. I have been on antidepressants for a good 15 years and I am so tired. I want to get off of them now. I probably only needed them for a little while, but here i am. I am glad your baby is okay! ❤❤❤
