I was thinking the exact same because I snag those Ulta gifts all the time and it's all of this exact stuff but Ulta puts it into a reusable and actually nice and well-made makeup bag instead of into a cardboard box. And usually the threshold for those freebies is spending like $50-60 on products, less than the cost of the freaking calendar.

My brother made me a personalized advent calendar two years ago that was packed with shot bottles of liquor, cannabis gummies, tickets for us to go see something called "the slam thrash Mikey Bones bluegrass fusion experience," a framed picture of us as kids, and a pair of earrings that look like tiny donuts was the last day. I literally challenge any of these companies to top that.

At least the QVC wasn’t as pricy as the Coach takeout tray. I’m so inspired by these boxes that I wanna make my own Advent Box this year. For all of $50, I could put 2 gifts a day in a reusable bag and tissue for 25 days. I could even put a week or two of numbered bags and make em hunt for the day with a lil teaser of weight to get to it. My kid lives at college, but he’ll be home all month for Christmas. All those packets can be received by the brands if you email them asking to try out their products, and then all the sample sizes... Any Beauty Con, Woman Con etc has bags of goodies they give out at the entrance and it looks exactly like the type of stuff you get there...

The thing with qvc is you have 30 days to return your items- jewellery, cosmetics even used so you can send that advent calendar back ( at your expense) and they will refund the cost ( less postage). The pro Collogen cleansing balm is lovely . Try it I use it all the time

What they ( and other companies like this do a lot) did was they put the price they think the products should be worth and not their actual retail worth. Then claim that's the price then half it. When really they just trying to cover up they are charging you $69 just for the box it came it plus the making of the advent calendar and the shipping and handling. Then they are charging the last $10 for the actual items in the calendar. That's why things like this are just scams. I'd rather get an advent calendar full of different chocolate or the Nintendo Mario Advent Calendar they sent out to some people. But that's just me.

I called them a few times, their representatives were so embarrassed to admit they had some issues. I think this advent calendar is a perfect reflection of their downward business moral.

My bosses were super nice but man that job was the most intense job ever, and I used to be a long haul truck driver. So I’m extremely glad that I happened across this reveal! She would’ve wasted a LOT of money on a ton of samples and we would’ve felt the same way you did while opening the daily “gifts”!! I would love to know how that was over $200 worth of products when most of them were free samples!!! That was awful and I hate to imagine how many people have purchased this already for a loved one.
