It Cost $200 To Enter This Port Without A Twic | Day in The Life Of A Tanker Driver | Local Trucker

I’ve been going to the Port of Wilmington a lot more to load either avail for myself or for another Driver and myself. I was shocked when I recently found out how much it costs to enter the port if you are a non twic Driver. Getting the twic is not always an easy process due to the background check. However it’s safe to say with this hefty price it’s a great benefit to be able to be a twic holder. Mother the Driver and company benefits. Oh wow there’s a shipper right near the port of Wilmington that I get a salt load from every week. I’ll probably run into you at some point. There is a truck stop called “Christina’s truck stop” nearby too

I went there my first week and it was easy to get in and out and loaded. Btw my Vegas trip was amazing, if you ever go back the dinner in the dark is an experience

Some people are not given the TWIC card. If someone has a criminal record or felony, they are not allowed or difficult to have a TWIC card.

Not true! If you have one it can’t be least than 10 years. I have one but mine is over 20 years old so that not true. Anyway have a good day big guy.

They’re correct cause I know drivers with records that have twic. However they went through a long process to get it. Either way I do know a record can stop a driver from having the Twic or even hazmat.

Hi my name is Nick love your videos,.Question, does your tank have baffles, if not would you be able to give me some advice on pulling a tanker with no baffles, as I just got a job pulling tankers up her in jersey

Hey Nick. None of the food grade Tanks have baffles. I’m going to be so honest. It took me a while to get somewhat comfortable because I wanted to run hard like I used to with reefer or Dry van. I’m now more comfortable because I realize I’m not there yet and taking my time and being cautious of how I move with the tank is more important. The main thing that has helped is my IRT teammates showed be where I need to balance out the weight on my fifth wheel. It’s to the center so when I make my turns around curves I’m not feeling the weight like I used to with the product shifting. The surges are here and there but that part I’ve gotten better at controlling or anticipating. My biggest advice is to drive at your comfort level because route can make a world of difference. I always realize that maintaining my speed makes it easier and also light breaks but honestly running in the northeast can make that challenging. What company are you with?

I tried to get in earlier in the year in the northeast area but they said they had too many applicants at the time with tanker experience for the Jersey terminal.
