I feel like astral gold allure in the iconic illumination quad is one. Could be wrong absolutely but it looks like one to me. I dont speak pat mcgrath. I have the last holiday, iconic illumination, and mothership VI (midnight sun) and I love them all. But ya, the top corner in my quad looks so much like the bottom corner in my mothership so I am assuming.🧐🤷‍♀️☺️

I'd love for you to compare some of your special indie shadows to the bronze seduction special shades. Out of all the palettes she's released thats really the only one I could see myself buying, but even then I'd only want it for the 4 special shades

I wore bronze seduction to work yesterday and by the end of the day I looked kind of homeless honestly. The shadows had gone everywhere and I have a fair bit of experience with eyeshadows. My palette also lost its magnetic closure so it flops open.

I have all the Pat Eyeshadow palettes and this one is just so special! It's a great stand alone as the real beauty of this palette, and all her shadows, is how the colors look when you layer them and use the satins as crease shades. Using these shadows in ways you normally wouldn't is how you bring the full potential out and it's stunning!

Don’t be. I wasn’t impressed and wound up returning the whole thing. It made me question why pat’s products were getting so much hype. Thankfully I took the plunge and bought one of her regular palettes 25% off and was like “oh okay this is why everyone loves her eyeshadows so much!”

The “special” shades are the 4 at the end of every mothership palette (called blitz astral shades) with the exception of Mothership IV:Decadence where there were only metallics. She has a good metallic and matte formula, but the main draw to her brand and the only thing worth spending anywhere near $100 or more is the blitz astrals. She hasn’t released any since 2 Christmases ago outside of the big motherships. There have been some formulas in the quads that come close, but they aren’t the same. That’s why even though the color story was tempting and the packaging is to die for, I’m not going to get this palette even though it’s a better value for her brand. Just my two cents tho

EXACTLY my thoughts. She knows what she's doing by making the blitz astrals exclusive to the Motherships. Her regular metallic formula is nice but not $125 nice (most Colourpop supershocks or indie singles are WAY better) and I find her mattes to be difficult to work with. Outside of the number of shadows you're getting, this isn't a great value imo

Not all the quads have those shimmery special shades in them. Only the Blitz Astral quads contain the flacky, special shades. They were released Holiday two years ago and come in three color combos: Ritualistic Rose (I own this one and love it), Nocturnal Nirvana (on my wish list) and Iconic Illumination The Celestial Divinity Luxe Quad, Venus in Flerus Luxe Quad and Divine Rose Luxe Quad along with the newly released quads DO NOT have any blitz shades in them. Total bummer. I wish she would release more Blitz quads!!

Rose Fire Nectar in Voyeuristic Vixen feels like a special shade, and I think the lavender shade in the now sold out Risque Rose is meant to be one too. Definitely do wish she'd go back to the all blitz astral quads too though, they even feel weightier and more luxe.

Idk why I can't get into PMG. Maybe it's just expectation levels. I have 2 motherships and a quad..... if the motherships were like $65-75, maybe I'd understand the hype a little more? I just have tended to only really really like 1 or 2 shades MAX in each palette but still don't get the use because they're heavy ass palettes to pull out frequently lol. *Terra Moon makes singles that are better than the special shades so after discovering her formula, I literally have no urge to keep making myself buy PMG* I wana love her stuff, otherwise ima clown for buying what I've already bought.... but ugh. Pat doesn't put the 'special shades' in these cheaper palettes, but her shimmer and matte formula are still pretty special in my opinion. I ordered this big palette and the Deep Space quad knowing that there aren't any of the baked/dry/special shades, but I'm still really excited.

The white one from the red quad, the pink-gold shift from the pink quad, and the green shade from the blue quad. They're still all beautiful shadows, but ngl, I was a bit disappointed as I was expecting 12 special shades!

This is a very pretty palette. I love shimmers like that green, that is my sweet spot for shimmers as far as finish/texture. I also like those semi-sheer wet look nude but shifting type shimmers. I've tried those more crumbly, flaky, glittery type shadows & they aren't my personal fave mainly because they need an additional adhesive or glitter glue & my eyes are too sensitive for that. Anyway, I really like this palette & it looks like you could get some very pretty looks using only 2 shadows that end up looking much more intricate. I've been trying to simplify my makeup routine to save some time ( don't always have time to apply/blend 3-4 mattes, 2 shimmers, tightline, inner corner highlight, curl lashes, apply mascara ) but with hooded eyes I'm not really a one & done shadow girl. Been there, done that & so bored with wearing only brown matte eye shadow for 20 yrs. This palette looks like a good reliable" reach for it when you don't want to think but still want to look pretty" palette. I might consider it for the Sephora VIB sale...

I literally sold my PML Celestial whatever palette from last year recently - I just never reached for it! It was absolutely beautiful, but toooooo much for my little brain to process and it short-circuited every time I opened the darned thing. I own some of her discontinued single shadows , and a few aren’t the special shades but they are unique to my collection. I have the Nocturnal Nirvana quad and it’s one of the most beautiful palettes I own and I’m so happy I have it. I have her pigments from when she first launched the dark star 006 and Mars pigment and those are some of the most gorgeous pieces in my collection. Wear alone, use as toppers on eyes or lips it’s insane! But I pass on new releases because they kinda looks the same, pink, or red, some kinda purple maybe a few greens but so many golds and golds look terrible on me

This palette was made for me! The, “special shades,” never last on my eyes. They move and glitter fall out is HORRID. I have the intensifeyes and have done all of the tricks. But I am over 40 with slightly hooded lids. This palette lets me enjoy the best of, without the waste of astral fall-out (FYI The glitters still fall out but glue helps.)

My palette arrived with two Shattered shades. Bronze Nova and the Citrine (green one) shade exploded all over the palette. I had glitter all over the counter, my hand and shirt. Not exactly how I wanted to wear these shades 🤪. Don’t know if the shipper was too rough with the package or if those two shades were not pressed well. I got in touch with PM customer service. I've bought both of these MTHRSHP Mega palettes and i've loved every second of it, I didn't expect the Blitz Astral shades because my understanding of her naming is that these are an extension of the six-pan MTHRSHP palettes rather than the luxury ten pan Mothership palettes, these are by far and away a better deal than the six-pans and the quality has been exceptional if you know what exactly it is that you're buying. I'm still waiting for the Blitz Astral Quads to come back to dabble in those shades but I'm very happy with these chocolate boxes of glitzy metallics and shimmers for £54 in the meantime!

I bought the new mothership palette last month and those blitz astral shades are to die for. I love using the mega palette and then topping it with the blitz from my mothership. The packaging reminds me of a garish Victorian circus. The colors are pretty and do make me think of holiday but I have the Pat McGrath Mini Eye Ecstasy Palette in Subversive, and I just haven't found use for those shimmers. I also have a single EYEdoll in Rose Venus, a metallic, and I've worn that one a few times after I got it but haven't picked it up in a long while. They're all definitely luxury pigmentation and textures, but I don't like duochrome and I have a palette of all shimmers from Revolution (who I rarely buy from) and it provides a shimmery topper for special event looks. (It's the a CrystalXX palette in Quartz.) I have no interest in paying $125 for a few special shades.

I was dubious about PMG until I bought Divine Rose II. It is lovely. I haven’t purchased more because of my preference for mattes in general over shimmers and because of the repeat shades. I think about getting MidniSun but held off.

I know you think tightlining will "make your eyes look smaller" because that's what everyone says but sometimes, its just called for. I really think if you would tightline with a dark brown, a purple or even a burgundy, especially with a look like this, it would be FIRE. It would take some of your looks to the next level. I have a similar eye shape to you and everyone had me convinced all I could use was a nude liner on my waterline. I went along with it for awhile but then, one day I put a deep purple in my waterline and tightline. I never got more compliments on my makeup. Just try it sometimes when you aren't filming.

I have Mothership Bronze and her two Sublime mini palettes. I am almost more impressed with the formula of her mini palettes! They aren't special shades, but they are shimmers that feel almost creamy and I find them super easy to work with. I really struggle blending her matte formula. It's SO pigmented.

I ordered mine, but I can’t stand the ribbons. I gave mine away last year because those ribbons kept causing my palette to shut. Morgan Turner suggested that I just cut the ribbons. There's this blue pigment/single shadow that has been calling my name ever since it was released (I think it was from the Star Wars release). Trying to tell myself one shadow is not worth that price but... it's so pretty... :S

I really love the eye look you came up with - simple yet with lots of impact! I was inspired to replicate it using the Smitten in Switzerland palette (Lucerne, yodel, Zurich, mt rici) with just a touch of jd glow good gawd in the center. Turned out great! Thanks

For anyone looking for special shades there are quads from the holiday collection two years ago the Rose quad is still being sold at Sephora and it’s the only all special shades quad she has I think it flew under the radar.

They don't, in Mothership V at least. It has one with glitter in it, but it's one of the bronzes. They're flaky mica.

I find it odd that Pat McGrath seemingly NEVER does a colourful matte. All mattes are brown or peach. Even though the shimmers always look amazing, that’s not enough for me. I just don’t wear brown mattes that often, I certainly don’t need any more… has she ever done a purple, a blue, a green matte?!
