@ViennaDarlingvd15 күн бұрын
@@Somegirl811it’s called acting for a reason there is absolutely no reason why someone with no experience of abuse should be able to play the role - it’s not like any actor has experience being in space, or being murdered, or many other scenarios. It was said in this video and in the complaint the theme for the interviews and promotional material was given to them by the distributor, not BL. And honestly, it makes somewhat more sense to me now that I’ve heard the other side. Maybe we should look at the hopeful side of escaping DV instead of always dwelling on the heavy, it might encourage people in DV to see more positives about escape - I have no idea, but it seems like a plausible motivation now even if executed incorrectly. I also find the comment about her age odd - there have been over a decade of complaints from women that being over the age of 35 means you’re suddenly unemployable in Hollywood- I think it’s fantastic that women are able to get roles for younger characters much like men always have been. Now, I don’t care much about Blake Lively, I’ve seen her in exactly one film, but I don’t think your comment makes sense on either point.
@Somegirl81115 күн бұрын
@ViennaDarlingvd I made a lot more points. I only mentioned her age because she was supposed to be playing a woman in her early 20s, so of course that's gonna make it harder to get the look they're going for with her. If anyone mentioned her weight, which I would be shocked if she was really that worried about it and wasn't just piling onto this laundry list, it probably ly because she looks more like a 36 yr old mother than a 22 year old single childless woman. There's nothing wrong with being 36 but... no one has ever complained that women in their late 30s don't get to portray enough 20 yr old characters. Its only when older roles are cast with young actors that annoys women. And yes I agree that actors should be able to portray characters that haven't experienced whatever is in the movie, but most women can at least empathize or imagine what it would feel like and I think she was having trouble with that. These are all things that happened in front of the crew so it's obvious he wasn't intentionally trying to harm her but maybe actually get her to take it more seriously. That's my impression. I don't see anything wrong if you take it out of the perspective of someone who thinks the whole world is obsessed with her.

“Difficult to work with” is also Hollywood code for “won’t do what we want - nudity, etc.” this also happened to Henry Cavill on the set of the Witcher, because he refused to do more nude and sex scenes. He didn’t want to take away from the story he personally liked and make it hyper sexual. The director and writers (women btw) gave interviews mocking him for it. Because the director and writers were women, and because he had dated someone young in the past, it was easy to smear his character. He was labeled too difficult and lost a few roles. It’s an old Hollywood tactic and unfortunately it still works. I felt something was very odd about everyone’s sudden hate towards Blake Lively, even if she’s not someone I follow - I know she’s never really been seen as this horrible. She has a similar personality to her husband and that throws ppl off because women aren’t expected to have humor like that. This complaint explains why she pivoted in interviews - that humor and deflection came out in full force because she was staying with in the bounds of the contract while avoiding compliance to Baldoni’s requests. She’s not a saint, but I do not understand why Baldoni is being worshipped like he is in a lot of comment sections. He connected with this book so much because it’s reflective of his own behavior. I am confused about her saying that the movie could make a difference in people's lives. She is the one that promoted it as a romcom, they are usually a light fluffy movie where no deep thinking or message is involved. Her promoting it like that is one of the first things that people were speaking out about (that and that she was promoting her alcohol brand during the press tour instead of talking about the movie)

Blake didn’t make a marketing of hope and resilience. She would literally pivot from the subject to random subjects. She used it to promote hair products and alcohol that she called with the name of the perpetrator in the movie. She is playing the innocent. Plus she was a producer, she had a voice, she wasn’t a person in a vulnerable position. She took her decisions and now doesn’t like the results.
@ValeskaTruax15 күн бұрын
I read she insisted on a producer credit later, and also insisted on certain edits she wanted in the film. I think she was using the threat of outing the sexual harassment to benefit herself. She is no angel.
@erinelizabethmsw513715 күн бұрын
But complaining to the studio and calling a meeting was using her voice. What else was she supposed to do? If her allegations are false she’s done for- I just can’t imagine her taking that risk. Justin and his team went after her in case her complaints became public. All he had to do was learn from his mistakes and change his behavior. Instead he and his crisis team went after a woman knowing the turmoil it would cause her and her family. And he dares to call himself a feminist. 🤢
@lhr883315 күн бұрын
@@erinelizabethmsw5137 She was not a simple employee, she was in a position of power, she had to act. She could have even stop production if she wanted. She was not in a vulnerable position. She acted like any other HR that “solves internally” because they care more for the money than for their team’s safety. I’m shocked how someone writes anything and people immediately forget the facts. And your double standard is amazing, IDK if he is really a feminist or not, I care about evidence, not appearances. Now, Blake is definitely not feminist or pro survivors. She literally says that Woody Allen is empowering for women. In 2016 she invalidated Dylan’s situation and called out other co-stars for saying “mean” things about Woody, she was ignoring literal Child SA and saying the perpetrator is empowering to women and choosing to work with him. 🤮🤮

The response to the complaint by Justin's legal team doesn't deny that these HR meetings occurred or that any investigation was made that found her claims to be unwarranted. I would have loved for you to cover the Gisèle Peliquot case.

Pretty sure Emily doesn't understand french. So she would only be able to understand the case by a secondary source which she only does as a complement to the official legal documents.

First time here and as a former paralegal, I’m so glad it’s for this case. Everything about this filing is horrific if proven (and I believe it will be). Kudos to Lively’s team for this sure-opening Discovery. As a ND mom with two ND kids, I cannot stress how much I despise people who attempt to use neuro-divergence as an excuse for criminal behavior. Thank you for this insightful deep dive.

@@jonnyfendi2003 at the meeting with hr. You know when they kept mentioning a "SAG compliant agreement" where she was allowed to have an advocate? You think that's off the goodwill of the company? That's union for you.

As a paralegal can I ask you, is this not already proven to an extent? Unless I'm misunderstanding (which is always completely possible) these are subpoenaed text messages. Unless he says they are faked or not real somehow and proves that, this is true correct? Like unless he comes out and says she's lying, that meeting happened, right?

The one thing I find weird about this whole situation is when she started to get some bad press she brought up the fact that he asked about her weight so if she at that time was so upset about the sexual harassment and whatnot why wasn't she bringing that up to defend herself in the moment. No she waited to see if her PR team would be better than his PR team it wasn't. So now she's taking her Sour Apples to court

I think lively and Reynolds are a powerful couple and others in the industry don't want to be on their bad side. To me, they both cone off as people who believe they are better than everyone else. I think this might blow up in her face.

I swear everyone is "neurodivergent" and uses it to justify their bad behavior to others...smh. I am glad this was filed so that we can see how these men are so vile in the workplace and what they will do, just to get away with misconduct.

Thank you. I find the timing of the complaint same time the movie was released on Netflix is interesting. I hope she is telling the truth and not paying off people.

Coming from someone who loathed this book and had no desire to watch the movie even I thought there was something weird here. It genuinely did feel like a targeted hate campaign against her, and I constantly wondered...why? The promo of this movie was off to say the least.

@judimoore1678 agreed, then that interviewer went on to interview her again later on, after claiming she felt like not working again after what she experienced. Felt weird all this arose at once in a massive pile on.
