It's so tough navigating a different country, language, and culture while traveling, but add on quarantine and that really takes it to a whole new level of challenging. I was due to travel to South Korea with my family in June 2022 but because the flights were expensive and the Covid tests were still mandatory, we decide to go to Spain and Portugal for 10 days instead as we wouldn't have been able to afford quarantine hotel if anyone ended up testing positive and also we had a limit of 14 days for our trip overall. I really like how you showed the prices and explained the costs.

At the time, it was still required to take a test upon arrival, thought I don't think that is the case anymore. Hope that helps 😀

Ohhh we arrived the same day in South Korea !! I was there on vacation for 3 weeks and landed the 31st of august. We were lucky enough to both test negative, but were really scared tho. The typhoon was also one day before our flight to Jeju so that was stressful too.

It was an interesting series of events, but we still felt very fortunate to soak up our remaining time enjoying as much of Korea as we could. Hi Joan 👋 It was definitely a thought that crossed our minds. We did inquire about re-testing, but it didn't seem like it would change the outcome of our quarantine requirements since we already had a positive test result. So we tried to make the best of it and figured we should at the very least, document the experience. Thanks for reaching out, we appreciate it 🙌

They might not be anymore, requirements are always changing and most testing is falling away in most countries now. It was definitely a surprise 😨

i am conflicted. You guys did break quarantine by moving hotels and getting food. But at the same time, if i was in your situation, I'd probably would have done the same. 1. covid is not at the height anymore, 2. most of everyone is vaccinated, 3. you show no symptoms, 4. what would anyone do at that point, you definitely tried to quarantine and not move places but still gotta eat. It's a struggle for traveling. You did your best and made the effort.

It's confusing that Korea had government mandated quarantine yet not have a government quarantine hotel or location. Did they just tell you not go outside for 7 days and not provide any further guidelines or follow up? If yes, then they are not serious about their policy so why should travelers take it seriously?

ah man, It sucks that you now have to cram your whole trip in half the time. Your positive outlook is refreshing. Look forward to more. Also, google maps is almost useless in Korea, you have to use Naver maps which is king over there.
