Regarding the fans getting cut by the glass shards, incidents like this and the lack of accountability from Tony Khan and co. are the things that could hold AEW back from really realizing their potential. After Revolution and with the revamped presentation, it seems like Tony wants to bring AEW back to its roots while still allowing it to have its own unique identity. A new era for AEW if you will. However, the Darby spot, the Sammy Guevara/Jeff Hardy incident and similar incidents hinder AEW’s reputation and credibility. Had the Darby spot gone awry, AEW would have obviously been in hot water and they cannot afford to have negative PR especially seeing how attendance has diminished in the last year. They gotta play it smart.

This came out a few short years after the company filed to the SEC over $14 million in off the books money used in hush money. This part actually happened, and isn’t up for speculation. You can to the SEC filing and find it. So for this to come out less than 2 years later, and no less right as soon as they ink a $5 billion Netflix deal. I’m willing to bet some good money, Netflix was not particularly happy. If he’s not guilty then that’s great these things never occurred. But if he’s guilty, everything comes out, and there’s no distancing from him prior, you can bet there’s going to be issues. From employees being upset, bad PR, possibly losing the Netflix deal, and then WWE possibly getting questioned if they knew or aided in a cover up. This is not Benoit, this is your CEO being accused of some serious stuff immediately after already being discovered for questionable practices and has a history of at the very least questionable behavior. Whos under federal investigation for the 2nd time in 3 years. Given these circumstances, as a company you basically have to do this for damage control.
