Nice video. Thanks for the cafe recommendations too. All rides need coffee and cake breaks - I’m pretty sure that is an unwritten law..

Both nice cafes. I'm with you & Klaus on this matter, all rides need a brew break or two, it's a fundamental part of the experience & consummates great velo joy

Nettles are actually a hidden blessing. A superfood. Packed with phytonutrients. I actually saw a video of a US health influencer come to the UK and he was staggered we have nettles everywhere, they pay quite a lot for them in the US! When heated slightly or steamed they lose their sting. Also when mashed up into smoothies. The US health guy was jealous we had them everywhere lol

True! I have had nettle tea before so I do appreciate them I suppose, it'd just be nice if they didn't waft out quite so far into lanes as I'm cycling past 😂. Who was the influencer? Sounds like an interesting video!

@@kitpascoeNettle tea is nice. It was a few years back when I was into the raw food diet. I remember seeing this America guy rejoicing at all the nettles! Could possibly have been David “Avocado” Wolfe, an American "health guru" with curly hair who advertised the nutribullet.

Oh, the nettle situation is very real. The sensation is a bit hard to explain to people who haven't experienced the joy of a nettle sting. I've done some photo/hiking journeys where you constantly have to weigh the "this would be a great shot" vs. "I'll have to brave some nettles to get it". Winter/spring hikes are a little easier, but the dodgy weather and lack of hours of sunshine are a bit of an issue. It's always a compromise.

Haha yeah I can imagine being a photographer in this environment is tough. Nettles can be so bad if they're really in the mood! I once did a run in the shape of a reindeer and had to dive deep into prickly gorse to get the shape just right on the GPS track. Luckily it was winter so no nettles.

I'd suggest you wear(and use) lights on EVERY ride. I mean, what's the downside?...you're "unnecessarily visible"? I think UK drivers are known for being pretty good with cyclists, but here in Oz, THEY ARE NOT, and every little bit helps. (I'd asked you about the little huts you used in France not that long ago, and now after seeing a bunch of vids on cycling in the UK, I think I might need to include some riding there as well! I always said I'd "save" rides in English speaking countries for when I'm too old to hassle with the problems of translations and I think I'm approaching that age. We'll see.) First, it's a ride from Amsterdam to Venice and we'll see how that goes. Nice video as usual!

Yup, I think you're right. I get pretty sloppy with lights in summer but then regret it when I dip from bright sunshine to super shaded road and can hardly see for a moment myself, let alone expect cars to see me! Cars are NOT that great with cyclists in the UK either, there's a lot of animosity and as the roads are relatively narrow, then many drivers overtake extremely dangerously. They're aware of you usually, but they just don't seem to care. I tend to ride on rural lanes, so it's not as bad and I see relatively few cars because riding on busier roads is really stressful. Luckily we have LOTS of lanes! But many are 40-60mph speed limits and while drivers are speed limited by their common sense (winding corners and narrow road making it impossible to see what's coming), you do get idiots who drive the lanes they know at way too fast speeds. Thanks for watching again and man, Amsterdam to Venice will be such a blast :-D

In need to ride no matter what weather is. I try but it gets annoying but here gets hot windy or if it rains prior it smells like weeds 😢
