I'm hoping soon! I'm working on the fuel system for startup, things are just taking more time than expected. Hardest part of the servo install is going to be running the wiring. =) It's plug and play after that.

@@flywiththeguys it is crazy (and awesome) that such a small surface area with an RC servo can have so much impact on a real plane. Hoping more RC tech makes it to planes!

Can you left the ipad inside o f the airplane when parking on ramp in a summer hot day?

Technically yes, but it'll most likely overheat. I have a mount that cools the ipad in flight. I would take the iPad out when not in use.

I don't know how I havn't come across your channel already! You've pretty well installed my shopping list! The one thing you havn't done a video on (unless I've missed it?), is the install of your GRT EIS. I'm on a budget, so I have to stagger the component purchases, but I think this is the next step so i can get on with engine testing (because like yours, my engine is 2nd hand) I'd love to see a video of your install (even if it is retrospective) including any challenges, what's included in the kit and how you go about calibrating it. I know this will be out of order for your series, for what is otherwise chronological, but seeing it is fundamental to the operation of the engine systems display on your PFD, perhaps you could do it as a recap/summary of the integration of all your avionics (GRT EIS/iLevil AP/iPad/SuperECO From Australia, keep sharing!
@flywiththeguys Жыл бұрын
We're installing the EIS soon. We've been waiting on some parts unfortunately. The was supposed to be the last piece to our puzzle. Then I got a phone call from a potential new sponsor. Something fun is coming. BUT, I think going to love flying with this setup.

What EFIS set up are you using? Looks as if you have a cooling fan built in... Is that an iPad?
@flywiththeguys8 ай бұрын
It is an iPad. The iLevil AP drives the iPad. I'm using a Xnaut mount that I cut into the panel. Wanted good cooling and most panel mount stuff isn't adequate IMO. I have a video on the mount I stall over on the channel page.

Cool install! This seems like a great product but I just can't wrap my head around some things. Why rely on a wireless connection and an Ipad, would it be that much more expensive to add a wired display and insead use Ipad/tablet as backup?
@flywiththeguys Жыл бұрын
It REALLY helps reduce the cost. In reality, the iLevil AP is just transmitting a small amount of data and the iPad is providing the graphics through the app. So the major display and processing power is in the iPad. To make a wired display you would need to add similar capabilities to the iLevil AP OR to the display.
@KofiAsare0 Жыл бұрын
Agreed, provided that you have a back up like the G5 or som I think this will be really awesome!

Wait a sec you servo looks almost identical to the servos on some of my RC planes 😂
@flywiththeguys Жыл бұрын
Thats because they are. 🤣Believe it or not they don't require a lot force to make changes to the aircraft. Other systems use larger servos because they are manipulating the whole control surface. With just the tabs the little servos are highly effective. I was talking to them about servo failure at OSH. They haven't had one in testing, and no reports of issues from customers.
@UrPilotNatt Жыл бұрын
this is super awesome! it all looks very neat and i love how it’s coming together! just a few questions and concerns. now i’m pretty sure i know the answer cause the end but will you be adding backup instruments so if your ipad fails you’ll have your instruments? cause i feel like an ipad isn’t the most reliable thing for for something as important as your instruments. especially if it suddenly goes ifr because of something like smoke from a fire that just started (which is a very real possibility). that combo is probably very unlikely but those are things i hope you’re doing your research on 😭 also since all your engine stuff and avionics switch is on the left side and that cut off is on the left side, if you go to feel around for the autopilot disconnect is there a chance you could shut off your mags or anything?
@flywiththeguys Жыл бұрын
Of course! That’s one of next weeks videos.
@scottmiller4711 Жыл бұрын
Why are you also adding a BOM? I think that would be expensive overkill for a VFR airplane that you can just use your eyeballs instead. The only thing the BOM is going to give you is ADAHRS and not engine data...

Honestly it’s because I have one that Ive been using for a few years. Now that I have my own plane, I just want to attach it.
