I just finished my first custom water loop PC on Halloween. Doesn't look as immaculate as yours, but it was still a MASSIVE achievement for me. Also I can't ever comment on how long you take again. Mine took 4 years and went through at least 4 changes in parts. Thanks for the informative, inspirational, and motivational videos Jay.

@@G-Unit1111 Yeah, it ain't cheap by any stretch... especially those damn fittings are so expensive depending on your loop design. I feel like I kept mine pretty "simple" but even still. I really enjoyed the build and the bending of the tubes though!

@@R1Armadill0 this... Actually just (almost) finished my second hardtubing build... Think I spend like $150 dollars on fittings... and that's for the fittings I didn't already have from my last build... Also... Jay's talk about having build the computer 5 times by the end... I hear him... I had so many "back and forths" with this build, it's insane. Even with planning, my "route" changed like 4 times... because of me realizing AFTER I had almost assembled everything, that something didn't fit where I thought it would. And after that I had some issues with fan motors being noisy, so I had to get them out... with the top 2 screws being behind a different radiator... and... fan-cables being the first thing I tugged away, because "I'm never touching those again" :( And now... I'm still not done... only just got the replacement fans (and tested that the motor isn't noisy), and... my GPU is still on air, as I wanna test it throughly, before tearing it apart to put it under water, voiding my warranty.

@@LordCrisp Hard tubing was exactly what I done, and I almost regret it too. First time custom loop going straight to tube bending was really sink or swim and I almost drowned lmao. I think I spilt fluid at least 3 times finding the leak, rerouting tubes, and losing my ever loving CRAP trying to stop these leaks 🤣 There's at least two tubes that I would want to re-bend, but now that I've got a final product after 4 years, I'm just settling with the imperfections. One of my runs had to be supported by hanging fishing line from the top rad, one run seriously needs either an offset fitting or a 45 bend to look parallel to the side panel glass, and the final bend was slightly short on both ends but isn't leaking somehow. Also I didn't know where to put my drain valve fitting, so I didn't install it 🥲 But it is still easily the best thing I have ever done on my own.

I have recently ordered a SMA8 mid plate distro with dual pump distro for my Caselabs STH10. from Daniel at Singularity Computers. It arrived in the last couple of days and the quality is excellent. It was ordered from the UK and apart from the Customs and Tax payment of £136, I am really happy with the product. I have been watching JayzTwoCents over the last 8 years and I am continually inspired by by his work. This hobby is not cheep but its great fun.

Warming up the tube is one option. Another is a tiny coating of silicone lube spray. I usually have no issue getting the tube over the barb, but then have a really hard time getting the outside collar to thread down. So I use the silicon spray on the outside of the tubing and then the collar slides down and threads easily.

If i were to teleport my dad from 2001 to today, and show him this computer, I think he'd flip the hell out. He was a computer enthusiast then and was so proud he ran dual HDD's ... 300MB + 600 MB HDD's and taught me to use CMD prompt to install all my games. Him seeing a full blown water cooling loop PC of this caliber vs his IBM PC with that turbo button on the front would blow his mind. GJ Jay, awesome build. Jay, what you were experiencing with your 90 elbows is called Flow accelerated corrosion (FAC) and you explained it pretty well. The water is turbulent while it rounds the 90 degree bend and over time it erodes the brass. I do maintenance on nuclear reactors and use ultrasonic tooling to scan coolant pipes for exactly what you experienced. Very cool video and Skunkworks looks amazing!
