Sabbath School - Managing for the Master - Lesson 4: Offering for Jesus
Sermon Title: It is Finished 7 Times - Pastor Stephen Bohr
Intro from the lesson quarterly: God is the One with the resources, and when we work with Him, He allows us to handle them for Him. It is the Savior’s purpose that human beings, purified and sanctified, shall be His helping hand. For this great privilege, let us give thanks to Him “who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: in whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins” (Col. 1:13, 14). 🌏

He's also a proficient violinist (as you may know), & I told my husband that those two males are REAL MEN (not young adults) because REAL MEN LOVE (and sing, teeheehee) about Jesus! Thanks to Bruce & accompaniment. God bless you both!!! 🥰

I appreciate the Bible Study, thank you! The sermon was exceptionally clear and right to the point. This message should be given when Pastor Bohr is asked to give a presentation somewhere; it really moved me and caused me to listen and remember. Praise be to God!

Thanks for a very insightful lesson study/review. And a good overall Sabbath School: prayer, music, study and the bringing of tithes and offerings as an act of worship. Praise the Lord for the enthusiastic, meaty, solid message as well.

What more could I add? Yes, all was/is a blessing to our lives. You are correct in calling the sermon "meaty" 🤔☺️. Thank you to Pr Bohr, Melvin Blue, Jeannie Wheaton, & the staff @ SUMtv. God's Richest blessings to each of you. You are appreciated.

In the world's view, Money represents our life output because it measures the value of our time, talents, physical prowess, material possessions. We generally get paid according to what others think our time is worth, for example. Because of that we hold tightly to our money and spend it usually as we wish. And that is why it is such an important test in the Christian's life. In returning our tithe, we are being obedient to God, when we return it honestly, cheerfully, and willingly. Now for offerings, we give following certain biblical criteria, not by a stated percentage. We should give willingly, cheerfully, proportionally to how God blesses us, (generously), and systematically (not sporadically) according to the Apostle Paul. We give also according to our faith. As we grow in our faith and trust in God, our giving should increase. Our giving represents not only our love for God but also our love for His lost human creation since much of our efforts in soul winning requires money (tithes and offerings). Our prayer should be: More love to Thee, O Lord, More love to Thee. This should translate in overflowing coffers that will enable the flourishing of gospel work all over the world. (Think about the 10/40 window, for example)

True. I was saying that to a friend this week. In other cultures, it can be needed commodities, if they represent our efforts and incomes. Our time can also be tithed. But not sure if that is an acceptable substitute for THE tithe, or considered offering. Any thoughts?

Tithe is 10% of your increase. It could be crops, herds, or currency. I found these verses helpful: 22 Thou shalt truly tithe all the increase of thy seed, that the field bringeth forth year by year. 23 And thou shalt eat before the LORD thy God, in the place which he shall choose to place his name there, the tithe of thy corn, of thy wine, and of thine oil, and the firstlings of thy herds and of thy flocks; that thou mayest learn to fear the LORD thy God always. 24 And if the way be too long for thee, so that thou art not able to carry it; or if the place be too far from thee, which the LORD thy God shall choose to set his name there, when the LORD thy God hath blessed thee: 25 then shalt thou turn it into money, and bind up the money in thine hand, and shalt go unto the place which the LORD thy God shall choose. Deuteronomy 14:22-25
