On that day... a monumental change in me stirred without regret. The smell of the many lavenders scoured my imagination, the weight of my armor almost resembling the weight of my responsibilities. The speed of my battle-hardened steed slowed as I approached the people who I consider to be my closest friends. It had a subtle dread, yet one that I could cherish as I looked half upon my fellows, and half into a light in the sky that only the gods would dare enlighten my path with that day. I remember the glare in Sir Ophrun's eyes, how they searched for the words I had yet to speak. I remember how one hand trembled, and the other laid as still as his solemn duty upon his legendary war-spear, crafted by the god-smiths of the distant land of Duvarin, where the oceans had made their final deal with humankind. "Melander, long time no see! How has the river carried you in all this time? I've not seen hide nor hair of your whereabouts since the Battle Among Piousness!" said Sir Ophrun, his words like a silky, youthful past of sweet reverie. "It has been well enough, Ophrun! Well enough for my armor to have warded away the rust of foreign blood of times long past! What of you, and our fellow champions?" "Things between the Kelcanic Dynasty and our guilds have been a bit shaky as of late, but all things considered, rather well, Melander! It is truly an honor and a pleasure to see you again after sixteen years of wandering the plains! I've spent my time establishing order in the most rural villages and roads, having gained the reputation of The Journeyman's Pathfinder! Most know the name for the wrath of my spear, but I prefer the more meaningful connotations, such as assisting the lost in both body and mind! It's not been so bad, but one can only travel the roads so often before they become shaded by one's trail of footsteps!" The others raised their arms, waving their calloused hands with their pure hearts. In front of Sir Ophrun followed the great Madam Wyshaan, once known as the Angel of Demons, for her diplomatic prowess and powerful political standing in the Ultimatum of Tsulfar, when the many united powers had, for the first time in all known history, initiated the most brutal civil war in the hopes of putting an end to the discrimination of our people from those who resided upon our closest Moon, to which they are said to be our ancient ancestors, who traveled there, as legend accords, via their extensive prayer towards the oceans and knowledge of their deepest depths. Tsulfar Ylgarum, rumored to be the youngest remaining descendant of their kind, said to have been banished from their order due to his attachment to this world, had attempted to repent and restore the reputation of the Earth-Bound so that his people may find penance among the stars, even if it meant that he never could. However, he was met with fierce retaliation by the Elder Judiciaries, and asked that in order for his forgiveness to be established among his people, he must first show a most respectable act of self-punishment. Something that would cost him his identity, and therefore, his pride and purpose of his current self. To this end, Tsulfar announced his decree in every street to which his people inhabited, and asked them of their thoughts, to which he would undoubtedly bring to the Elder Judiciaries come the time for their council. The people had aspired for peace, for understanding, and for the mercy of those who have had the most time of all to practice these very aspects among their rule of Earth. Yet even on their outstanding authority and honor, they had denied the possibility of a peaceful substitute as he asked for their aged ears to bend for his words, and as an act of utter defiance, he had written a letter to be sent to his loyal daughter, that upon his death, the world shall be obfuscated in chaos and the dismemberment of their loyalties as protest to their will to serve the Moon-Born as he gutted himself in front of the eyes of all those who attended their council meeting. Even now, the scars still litter this world, in both the figurative and the literal senses. It is largely thanks to Madam Wyshaan that we had relearned the maternity of unity, and kept ourselves from the gates of hell by the power of her utmost awe-inspiring ideas and performance on the battlefield for her just and skilled eyes of truth and love. "My, oh my, it is as the ocean currents ordained! Your return shall be implied with the most open arms and sincerest hugs, Commander Melander!" said Madam Wyshaan, her voice like a mother in itself, embracing the mind with only the most enviously fruitful thoughts of maturity and wise acceptance. "You never fail to comfort us, Your Highness! And I doubt you ever will! Your presence here is as warm and anticipant as your well-rounded actions in my time serving you! I would gladly join your ranks once again if the need ever arose!" said I, as I caught up with Sir Ophrun, matching his speed. "If you ever do, I'll let you have my sword! Seeing you fight alongside our armies in those harrowing weeks was the most memorable part of the war to me, and you most certainly deserve a blade forged in the icy mountains of the Heretic's Guild! Though they had attempted to slander our most gracious martyr, one could never deny the bewilderingly powerful blows that were delivered in their passionate weapons! Perhaps they were considered heretics for their knowledge in war over that of their capacity for unity! What do you think, Pia?" Marching ahead of Madam Wyshaan is Lady Pia, or Pia the Candid. Fitting is the name, for her unrivaled sincerity and unabashed intricacy of her many arts. About twenty-two years ago, after the Ultimatum of Tsulfar, she became the world's most renowned artist, painting pictures of the most beautiful, sorrowful, nostalgic, and ethereal landscapes and events, which touched the hearts of so many, that even the Moon-Born have shown the highest gratitude for her artistic mind. She sang songs of mystical tales, glorious pasts, and possible futures. Many called her a fortune teller, though a sizable minority had labeled her acts of enlightenment as those of greed and dishonor. To this end, she has only enveloped herself more and more into her works, and across the world, she is praised as a living deity of ruthless prosperity. It is said that in the Battle Among Piousness, an event that started sixteen years ago as a mere protest comprised of arrogant fools who believed the Moon-Born to have been correct in their unlawful and harsh judgment towards the Earth-Bound, which grew in the coming days to become a small war between the common people and the stubborn nobles, that it was the songs made by the many strings of her longbow that brought to light the wrongfulness of their ways as the memories of her artful finesse guided their intentions from that moment on. "I think that this debate in particular has been over-discussed, and that no need of its mention resides! I know you cherish the memories of your glory days, Wyshaan, but you need not reminisce on such temporary matters as the Ultimatum! For it is now that we have this opportunity to reflect on the rays of light themselves for once in over a decade, rather than the events which allow them to shine here and now! Appreciate hope for what it is, not for its bloody history!" said Lady Pia, her voice a somber, yet dutiful consolidation to not just this gathering of heroes, but to the very earth around us. As though it were written in fate, I distinctly remember how the clouds had cleared at the moment her words had left her mouth. Sir Ophrun and I clacked our greaves against the saddles of our likewise respectable horses in unison, so that we would match the pace of Madam Wyshaan. As we got closer, I noticed the man at the forefront of our steady march through the plains, and knew not of his origins, or his character. Sir Ophrun turned to me, and though he wore his helm at the time, as we all were, I could tell he had a most innocent smirk brilliantly shining behind the polished meteorite of his visor. I also noticed the man at the front turn his head towards me as I made curious question of his presence, though I could tell that he carried an understanding of my naivete with his eyes. "Do you jest, Commander? This is the most royal and well respected of us all, the one and only son of Tsulfar, King Rendfar, The Husband of Luna himself! He asked us all on this voyage of peace and remembrance, this family reunion! We are to journey all the way to the east coast, to attend a reformation of the Moon and sea! We hope to restore the ocean-bridge that once connected the two cosmic bodies, so that our ancestors may learn to thrive with the Earth-Bound in perfect harmony after having suffered this divide for the last thousand years! If all goes to plan, this will go down as the most honorable act of the Earth-Bound to have ever been recorded by the most educated scribes of both lineages! Truly astonishing history will be made by the next sunrise, and we'll be granted the honor of representing him and his majesty at the council gathering!" Ophrun said, the sheer excitement of the matter worming into my heart, carried by the ecstatic energy of his body language and the intonation of his words. Then, King Rendfar halted in his path, and turned his mount to face me. I looked on in amazement as he lifted his helmet from his head, revealing the young, yet scared face among the most beautiful I've ever seen. His yellow eyes pierced my thoughts, his smile made of a radiant purpose, unbreakable and valliant. We all approached him, and waited in a most joyful silence for his incandescent words. "You must be that illustrious commander I've heard so much about. A pleasure to meet you, after all this time. And what a place to finally meet face to face, is it not?" King Rendfar said, his voice hardened by a distinctly rough upbringing, yet refined in his confidence and all encompassing maturity, surely inspired by Madam Wyshaan and Lady Pia. "Yes, Lord, Commander Melander of Demon Brigade, at your service." I said, nervousness traveling through my lungs and into the air of my voice. "I hear that you mostly accompany the roads of the eastern continents nowadays, slaying all manner of beasts and keeping the peace in all but peaceful lands. You're somewhat of a legend yourself, having single-handedly taken entire kingdoms, hundreds of thousands of soldiers at a time. I've heard that your battles have lasted days without rest, and you always come out on top, drenched in a lake of blood and literal mountains of bodies left in your wake. You spend your time ruling the countries of the removed world, and many say that you indeed leave the visage of a demon in your footsteps. While many of my supervisors prefer the more peaceful approach, you're the only one among them who acts in the purest violence imaginable. However, I also hear that you are extremely fair, and you do not kill those undeserving of their fate. I've seen no objection to this claim, even as I've asked of your reputation among the common folk, the world's most educated scholars, and our ancient story-tellers. You may be a demon, but you are one which served in the honor of my father, and I cannot deny the loyalty to him, and therefore, to me, that you've shown, even in the most distant regions. Considering that you fared the journey all the way to these lands, having crossed the Burthal ocean, that alone proves that the oceans respect you enough to be allowed on their surface, and that, Melander, exactly the kind of representation I need for tonight." King Rendfar nodded to me, an affirmation of his trust. As I nodded back, he lifted his helmet above his head, and gently settled his skull within its comfortably hollow space. My fellows looked upon me in great respect, and simultaneously bowed after having heard our lord hold me in such high regard. Then, I felt a droplet of gentle rain fall onto my pauldrons, and King Randfar looked to the sky. Indeed, a storm had been on approach, and we'd not far until a local tavern. Madam Wyshaan turned her head to our lord, resuming our forward path. "If I may suggest, Lord, there's a tavern just a few thoughts down the way, which we can use to rest while we wait for the clouds to disperse." As Wyshaan finished speaking, our lord turned his horse, and followed her, to which we followed him. "I would love to, but we have precious little time until sundown, and I don't plan on delaying this congregation once again. Besides, there's a certain charm to traveling in the path of rain." We trotted for hours and hours, watching the sun wash away from the orange of citrus to the faded purple of memory. We discussed many things, and we were so genuinely happy that night, our laughs a song of compassionate love for one another. We had eventually arrived at the ocean altar, where one of the Moon-Born awaited, and had prepared the ceremony. That was... well, above all else, it was an important night. Regrettably, after many more hours of debate and discussion, we were told, as by the very scripture of the oceans, that one of us must give the waters life and direction. A soul strong enough to shape a newfound path built on strongly founded ideals. In short... one of us had to sacrifice ourselves in the very same way that Lord Tsulfar once did. Suffice to say, our hearts had taken a toll. We spent so, so long considering whether it was necessary. However, we had ultimately concluded that the oceans could not expend enough energy to rebuild the old bridge in any other way. In an act of pure heroism, the foundation of a new kind of love, it was Sir Ophrun who made the sacrifice. Yesterday, we attended the fifth anniversary of the reconnection between Terra and Luna. Yesterday also marked the fifth celebration of life for Sir Ophrun. For five years, I've been married to Lord Tsulfar's daughter, here on the Moon. We... We have a son now. I... I only wish that you, Ophrun Candleheart, could see him now. He looks like you when we were kids. Hell, for all I know, you could have reincarnated into him, because I swear you two could be mistaken for twins. He has that very same spark that you always had. He has the same courage. The same lust for all that life has to offer, and he'll kick life in the balls if it means he gets to do good for others. Just like you, Ophrun. Every day I wish that you could just... I don't know, come back to us. Sometimes I find myself angry that it was you, but every time I think about it, I'm reminded of just how fitting your sacrifice was that day. Because of you, we no longer have wars to wage between the Earth and Moon. Your soul has only grown stronger in our oceans, and humankind can't be more thankful for your bravery. When I eventually pass on, you and I have got to buy the best wine that our heavens can offer, and drink until the sky falls down. ... I miss you. Please, don't ever forget who you are. Don't stop connecting the bridge between us. Don't die on me. Not for the second time. Lastly, Ophrun, I have one final favor to ask. If shit hits the fan again, and the Earth and Moon initiate another civil war, I want you to drown every last man, woman, and child alive. I want to see them atone for their sins, as you have atoned for ours. I want you to connect us, once and for all. I wanna hear their screams as they beg for air. I wanna see their bodies shriveled into insignificant lumps of flesh. I want them to know what it felt like to lose you. Then, I want you to take us to the next closest moon. Just us, the family. Pia, Wyshaan, Tsulfar, Rendfar, Gynfar, yourself, my son, and I. So that I never have to leave your side again. Such is our promise.

But right as i'm composing this comment i forget about everything else and can just be myself you know. Humans are a very complicated and complex species. The flowing and shifting sea of lavender before us swayed in the breeze of the setting sun, as if it had come alive and invited us along the path which we marched anxiously. We knew the journey's end, my brothers and I, and though each man trudged onward in duty and honor, the weight of our minds pulled on our shoulders. It shall be recorded in the hymns of the Underkeep, songs of your bravery shall ring out from every tavern, market, and hall in all the lands." We cared little for glory. The promises of great chants of our adventure posed naught in the face of duty, in the trials of this tempestuous slog to distant lands and certain demise. But for a moment, I think, when our horses crested the hillside and basked in the soft luminescent glow of the fading sun and purple buds that poured across the countryside, we felt peace. The air was cool and refreshing, far different from the choking smog of civilization that crept upon you in every direction of our homeland. No, here there was something deeper, something far more fulfilling than codes and creeds, banners and holds. We look to each other as our steeds marched onward, not uttering a word but speaking more than words could utter. We would fight, we would die, for this world. We need not make idle promises or sign precarious treaties to know that without sacrifice, ethereal fields such as this could not continue to cast its subtle and beauteous magics upon the earth. "I would die for this," spoke Ser Akumbe, peering out among the purple fields and soft sky above to the west. "Aye," the group responded in kind, one after the other, with humble hearts. The wind flowed heavily in-between the group, as if passing through us all, through our souls, and accepting the selfless offer each man and woman vowed. "Aye, so would I," I proclaimed as well, as the sun finally set behind far distant shores across the sea. What better cause to die for than the magics of Lakes of Lavender.

Thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you. This is what I dreamed of besides not even knowing. What you wrote is spot on what I envisioned for this channel to become. A place for people to connect with each other over almost such a small link in life such as a youtube video... but connecting us here, there are sensations, there is music, and there is a comment section wich is worth it because of you and a lot of others. It's almost like a small library of tales and testimonials, of cravings in the wood from several travelers that pass by (as some brother have said in another video). This is not just about me at all, this is about creating a small camp, each video, that can almost make a small safe place for people like us to invest their spirit in, even it just relaxing while simply listening to the songs, or immersing themselves in tales such as yours that travelers sometimes create and deposit here as their "mark" in these videos, or even if they are working or creating with a little background music in their living rooms... But the most important, just like the knights of your tale, I am greateful I can really find a lot of us to really feel eachother. We, as your carachters, we wouldn't need a word in order to know our comrades know what we are feeling, I sometimes think about that. And that's marvelous. We are miles away in person, but we do feel eachother over such a "small" thing as a comment section. This is wonderful. Thank you so much once again for your story. Songs like these hit so deep in me and I haven't been able to let myself experience the emotions just yet. Like, I'm afraid of feeling them because I'm afraid then I'll have lost those times from happening in the future. Like, walking around stormwind city when I was 14, despite playing solo... Idk, it has a feeling to it. And same with Skyrim, walking through skyrim and hearing that ost play just feels... I really don't know what emotion but it feels it. Melancholy? I wonder if I can find a community again. A place where I feel connected with the people.

I have just finished playing a plague tale: requiem and it has really peaked my interest in medieval times, its music, atmosphere and history. It may not be the best time period but I do enjoy imagining what life was like during those times, the game showed its fruits of living in the 13th to 14th century.
