The king of DIY I'm curious, why are the inlet and outlet for your tank on the same side? Is it beneficial to have it that way?

That Information about that light for the filter came on point for me, i've just built a pond in my garden and have an alge problem so i can't see the Koi inside and i was thinking about the light for the Filter but was worried about the "good" bacteria in the pond, but now u made it clean for me to get on :) (I'm so sorry about that bad english... The sheer joy on Joey's face when he wheeled that cart in! He's right, it IS the little things that can make such a difference. I know utility carts have made my life a lot easier while working at my job at the community center. A heck of a lot better than lugging half a dozen tool boxes by hand, that's for sure!

This has got to be my only "can't wait for the next video to be out" channel. Really loving n looking forward to every updates on this aquarium gallery! By the way i feel it's best that you paint the outside of the concrete n the other aquarium stands dark brown in colour instead of black cos brown IMHO just makes the whole environment in the gallery have a more "cozy" feel to it.

So happy for your progress (and the cart). Love the Fred Flintstone approach to moving acrylic. I vote for spring loaded steps on castors. They move without pressure but stay in place when someone steps on them. And - Excellent point about UV treated clarity and the lack of damage to beneficial bacteria.
@hayleylaurenb7 жыл бұрын
hey joey! I wonder whether you've thought of having a brackish set up in one of your 10 smaller tanks? It's a really underrepresented area of the hobby and would allow you to showcase some slightly more usual fish! It's personally my favourite type of aquarium and really doesn't get the recognition it needs. Loving what you're doing!

Joey! If you are worried about algae growth in the big tank then maybe consider building a DIY Macro Algae Reactor. For example, there are many designs for cheato reactors out there. This will allow you to do a few things. The first thing being help mitigate algae in the tank by controlling algae growth elsewhere to out-compete it for the nutrients. You could in theory use this alga once harvested as fish food if you wanted to. The second big reason is it will help stabilize PH, one of the reasons refugiums are usually run on a reverse light cycle from the tank. The third reason is probably the biggest for you; reducing the need for water changes. Since you are decreasing the nutrients in the tank you can go longer between water changes. Those nitrates and phosphates that are usually exported via water change is now being taken up by the controlled growth of algae in your reactor. Plus I kinda want to see you do an algae reactor as a project...

No worries as long as you're OK. Given all the work you are doing there's always opportunities for things to go sideways - as they say in the movie - "**it 'appens!" I'm guessing you'd have the approach of Python's "The Black Knight" even then though (Joey gets glued between acrylic panel and tank while examining quality - says "'tis but a scratch"). Keep up the great work bud!

@rulas8737 жыл бұрын
Joey, you can put a cement ledge on the inside of the panel cavity, flush with the outside of the tank, then you can insert the acrylic panel inside the cavity and the water pressure, along with a gasket, will keep it sealed. Just a suggestion, but either way love your videos. 😃

Just an idea. What if you were to integrate a bench seat into your wall of tanks around where the outlet is behind the sheets leaning on the wall. Possibly could hide power cords in side a wooden bench same color as your flooring as well. Plus a great lower level view of your tank without having to lean over to peak inside you can sit back in an arch of tanks around you as you gaze into your big tank. Give it more of a gallery feel to sit back and admire your art.

I feel you about "the little things" lol, when I got my acclimation container they use in stores, I was so happy lol. I was probably more excited about that then I was about most things for my aquarium. Also, I always called the gallery the "Fish Mansion" lol, because it's so massive and it's more than just a room and I always call the tanks the fish houses, because that's pretty much what a fish tank is. So, fish mansion it was for me lol

Hey Joey! Dont worry about a pulling force once you get the silicone set, just leave the braces in until you put the water in. The water will push against it and keep it from falling back unless u run a truck into the front lol

Just an idea but you could run a track on the aquarium racks that you could attach a camera to for live streams of your aquariums..you could even automate it to move/slide at a slow pace along the track panning past the tanks back and forth along the entire line of the tanks..zero shake.nice and steady......better and safer than having a tripod in the middle of the floor.

Glass carry suction cups should work to help you move those panels with a safety catch on a chain. Either way please be very safe they may not look dangerous but it does not take much to loose a limb to those acrylic panels. If you do drill you could always setup carry handles in the holes!

I think your focus should not be so much to increase the amount of aquarium hobbyists, but to more so educate the people who just "have a fish tank" or "just a betta fish" or yes maybe want to keep fish at home. There is always a shortage of animals in the world now due to the existence of the human race. And there are so many people in the world who don't truly appreciate the nature and don't truly care about the fish that people keep in aquariums. People think that flushing a goldfish down a drain is such an insignificant thing, but I can see this gallery as being educational for fish keeping in general and increasing the appreciation of the little lives that swim around in our homes and the beauty of it.
