Dave is a real one! This was one of my favorites to listen to! Such a good conversation between you both. I love that you ask the hard questions and respect when Dave passes on answering, also respect that Dave keeps things private. You are a Good Dude Sevan and so glad to see Dave back! I know he continues to do so much that he will never take credit for behind the scenes but having him share every now and again is nice. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Castro rocks.........I am an Australian Ultra-endurance athlete who has met many US military types at races in "The States", who have become lifelong friends. Many of those guys are/were part of the SF community and have shared stories of their lives while deployed. Words cannot describe how much respect I have for those men and Dave, to me, is just like them. Respect Dave...Much respect! Bring on the 2025 CF season!

Dave is a special man and a rare breed. We CrossFitters are incredibly lucky to have him in leadership. It takes special kinds of balls and humility to get on here and NOT defend himself / make his case. With so many loud people BLASTING him, it would be the natural response from nearly anybody on earth. His conviction and discipline is honorable and I want to be more like him, for real.

Honestly he’s nothing special. Just a guy that genuinely doesn’t care what people think of him. If that’s impressive to you then you need to go live outside of a major city. That’s how everyone is lol.

How do we know what Castro did and did not do? Oh, yeah, it's secret. We had a famous author here in Denmark, Sven Hazel, got rich from his WW2-tales, where he fought for the nazis, mostly on the eastern front. Some 25 years into this, it turns out he was a clerk in Berlin, never saw combat. Now, let me see evidence of Castro's true merrits and I'll shut up, no problem. Yet, the way he handled Event 1 at CFG24, I would not feel safe having him leading my outfit/crew/team/company, no matter how much of a Rambo he would turn out to be.

I am retired 20 years military. In reference to Dave not being approachable, I was always told by Soldiers and peers I seemed so unapproachable when they meet me. I had that “resting bitch face”. I think that is very common in A type military people. As Dave said those who know/knew him, know thats just him and likely a productive of his life experiences.
@lifeaccelerator29 күн бұрын
Dave is a private person but he also really has to watch what he says until all the legal proceedings surrounding Lazar are over and resolved since anything he says could be used against him and CrossFit. If he even hints of feeling any responsibility for what happened, it could be used in a legal proceeding. So, you can see his emotions rolling off him even through that toughness and necessity to not speak about this. Glad to see Dave back in the public.

The important question is when Don said that CrossFit HQ was going to “take significant money out of the Games” did this include the safety budget. It seems to me that for a brand new venue in TX in August the safety budget should have increased. The rumor I heard was that they slashed the safety budget by 1/3. If they cut the safety budget by 1/3 from previous years, they knowingly and intentionally FOR PROFITS made the Games unsafe or at a minimum less safe. I also heard that the presence of safety personal on the water was noticeably lower than in years prior. As if this isn’t damning enough, the athletes organized into the PFAA because their safety concerns were being ignored. Despite injuries and safety concerns, there was seemingly no safety standards or best practices. The PFAA was pushing for this and somehow this was too much for CrossFit to agree to. With regards to Dave Castro as head of the Games, if he was aware of the cuts to the safety budget and did not at least push back, then he is complicit. If he remains complicit after Lazar’s death, then as the head of the CrossFit Games, people will call for him to be removed.
@frankfoeАй бұрын
Who is concerned with retribution? They just have safety and communication concerns and HQ / Dave have a history as I understand it of not taking these concerns seriously. Seems like Dave would not have been able to answer questions about this anyway.
@frankfoeАй бұрын
Seriously? You don’t know why athletes who have dedicated their lives to competing in the competition to find the fittest athlete in the world maybe upset with Dave still be involved and conflicted about participating? Sounds like Dave is telling athletes to boycott the Games. Wonder if according to Chase Ingram this makes Dave a piece of shit. Sounds like Dave doesn’t have an issue with how Private Equity is destroying the company or he would not associate with it and take it all the way to the goal line.
