The way I interpret it at least is that Araki views the disabilities he uses in his story the same way he views limitations on stand abilities. They're a part of the user, and so the user both has to find a way around it and a way to use it too their advantage. This advantage usually comes in the form of their stand, the specifics of which being born from the user's experiences as stands tend to do. On a separate note relating to Daiya's place in the story, this seems to be a problem throughout JoJolion. It has a pretty big cast of potentially greatly useful and interesting characters, but the direction the story wants to go in doesn't really allow for them to be used, especially when Josuke seems to have little to no interest in the family as individuals. The way JoJolion has played out has ended up alienating them from the narrative which is unfortunate because they have potential

I think at one point Araki had the idea that she could force people to see other memories. So like, if her dad had a friend who burnt his leg, she could force Josuke to experience the memory over reality as a hallucination. But then, Araki forgot.
