We had a light frost last week.. thankfully all I had out was cover crop and kale. Its supposed to be rainy and cold here for the rest of the week! (Iowa)

We have not had a hard frost yet. Zone 6a in Ohio. Maybe next week. My mama used to call those knit hats toboggans also, thanks for short memory of her. I look forward to seeing what you work on next.

No frost in our two week forecast but did my dahlias ever get a whippin from the storm bomb that hit us. Lucky none fell over - I lasso them at aprox 15" and 36" but their tops sure where getting knocked about and all that heavy, intense down-pouring of rain!

We had our 1st hard frost here in Zone 5b NH today. So sad my zinnias & dahlias were looking so good. Oh my lord those flowers in the cooler are stunning....

Those are all so beautiful, not sure if we even have a frost but if we do it probably doesn’t last long. Looks like Google says about December-January

You guys have been killing it this season. Everything has been looking amazing. Those frosts come before ya know it. We are experimenting with a few things this year in our greenhouse, not too hopeful, but excited to see how things turn out being that we don’t have heat in it. Blessings to you and your family! 🙏❤️🙏

Bummer bro. But y’all did well for the first year I think. I see high tunnels in the future for your farm

We sure did ! We got it done ! Learning everyday!

It sure would be nice if one or two of these high tunnel companies would sponsor you with a high tunnel or three. You'd be able to grow almost year round. You would need a wood burner for heat and maybe some grow lights again that were sponsorship helps helps with the cost... ALSO it would help you out a great deal if some of the homesteader channels could give you a shout out to help build your subscriber count. That's one thing companies look at if they're going to invest into a channel... Just a few thoughts that was running through this old biker's head... Much love and prayers, may you kids be blessed in Jesus name... BBE...

Thanks so much! We appreciate it. We have been on a few channels so far! It’s hard to get on some them. I would love to collaborate with people more. Good insight. Thanks for watching.

Hey, this is off topic but I am starting my indoor plants. I have grown microgreens, lettuce, and started seedlings under indoor LED lights but this time I am trying to experiment growing the full flowers. I am worried about my lighting. Do you have any idea how much light is needed to grow a full flower. I have a feeling it might be more light than just microgreens. I know you said you might made a video about this later on but I need to figure this out asap. How much light are you putting on your indoor flowers? I have 20w 6500K led light rods from amazon. I have been using 2 rods per shelf for everything Ive done so far and its been great. Do I need more than this to get a plant to flower?
@ahavarichardson54263 жыл бұрын
Light should be sufficient because planting guides say light or dark, doesn't specify!? Close to the seeds then raise the light as they grow! Right? He may say differently but deductions see it
@annbann63 жыл бұрын
@@ahavarichardson5426 yes yes... i am planning to raise the lights accordingly.. but Im wondering if I maybe need 3 rods instead of 2 when they grow larger. I know Im going to have to experiment with what works.. but if I can get some answers then I'll spend less time regrowing things i've killed. lol.

Anita, one light is efficient for 2 mature plants. 1,000 watt lights is what is needed (full spectrum) minimum. Vegetation stage not as much light needed. Flowering is where you need more of the colors(light) to provide growth. A good way to measure this is your lumens. Also, a quick thought you can use your phone with light meter ? I think.. check it out. To make sure it will work. It is an app.

@@WindyBrookRidgeHomestead Okay so the ones I have a white light at 2300lm. I think it will be okay. Good to know what you use. I guess I'll just trouble shoot once I get there if things aren't growing properly. Also, thanks for the app advice. Didn't even know this existed. Thanks for the input! Appreciate it.
