I sang this song to my husband as we stood at the alter taking our vows. It was a very small wedding. That was the only music for our ceremony. The marriage is still going on & on strong going on 25 years!

You know what I miss the most? Those times when music was all that matters. We listened to the radio and didn't have any idea how the faces of the artists were, but it was ok. Artists like Christopher Cross and Stephen Bishop lost their space in industry when MTV came out (probably).

I agree with your overall point but not necessarily sure Chris and Stephen can attribute their decline to their faces...I think their material was not as good over time.
@SweetThing5 жыл бұрын
@@lionelraoul - Christopher Cross's "Sailing" is a classic! And "Think of Laura" - written about a friend who died young, is so moving... And Chris's "Best You Can Do" from the movie Arthur is lovely. Chris's material was most definitely "good over time".

Hey! I'm a total Metal Head. I love my Slayer, Metallica, Exodus, Over Kill, and so on. You know who else I love....MR STEPHEN BISHOP!!! The man. One of the greatest soft rock artist of all time!! So many great tracks including this one.
@MeadeSkeltonMusic10 жыл бұрын
i like him too. Im not sure i would consider it soft rock. It sounds more folky pop, smooth country sound. Not really soft rock.
@mrhoffame10 жыл бұрын
IDK I kind of always lumped him in with artist like Christopher Cross, Ambrosia, Seals and Croft, etc. I guess like most artist it depends on which record you are listening too. What are some of bands you consider to be Soft Rock?
@momgoincrazy10 жыл бұрын
mrhoffame I would consider this soft rock 8)
@joeytruelove9 жыл бұрын
momgoincrazy I suppose if we were to discuss specific genres this clearly has a slight bossa nova feel with the distinct chord colourations and progressions which would put it in the (smooth) jazz segment, mixed in with some poppy folk or singer/ songwriter vibes to it, in line with mr Skelton said. Examples of soft rock off the top of my head could be Stop Loving You by Toto or Alone by Heart. Doesn't have to be ballads or slow tempo, just refined and not edgy. Then every genre is a fusion of other genres and ever song is its own unique genre, really.

The song's composer, Dave Grusin, is such a soulful musician and craftsman of memorable compositions. Choosing Stephen Bishop to sing it was a no-brainer!

Stephen Bishop has a wonderful quality to his voice. I long to hear a trained popular singer to a rendition of this beautiful song. Roberta Flack and Patty Austin have done interesting versions. Elaine Paige and Johnny Mathis have done a duet version which is intriguing. I love the acoustic guitars in this song. I don’t think we’ll get that one warm and beautiful rendition with a wonderful arrangement by a trained popular singer with the way music is made and produced today with it all being electronic and computer generated.

It Might Be You Time, I've been passing, time watching trains go by All of my life lying on the sand, watching seabirds fly Wishing there would be someone waiting home for me Something's telling me it might be you It's telling me it might be you all of my life Looking back as lovers go walking past all of my life Wondering how they met and what makes it last If I found the place, would I recognize the face? Something's telling me it might be you Yeah, it's telling me it might be you So many quiet walks to take So many dreams to wake And we've so much love to make Oh, I think we've gonna need some time Maybe all we need is time And it's telling me it might be you all of my life I've been saving love songs and lullabies And there're so much more no one's ever heard before Something's telling me it might be you Yeah, it's telling me it must be you And I'm feeling it'll just be you all of my life May be it's you (It's you) Maybe it's you (It's you) I've been waiting for all of my life Read more: Stephen Bishop - It Might Be You Lyrics | MetroLyrics
