I love your videos and even though I am not a fan of fallout at all this is one of my favourites. Thank you Brit & Bill for everything you put back into the community. I know that it has not always been easy for you and you have not had the advantages that many start with when making KZbin content but I think that journey makes you all the more authentic and relatable. It’s a dead ringer for the kind of promotional prop a cola company would use in the 1950s. The unabashed fire engine read and gloss finish really sell it. I bet real cola companies are infinitely envious that they didn’t think of it.

It looks so good! I really like the shiny finish the catalyzed clear coat gives off! I've wanted to try and see how that stuff does on EVA foam if you tried to get as smooth a surface as possible.
@punishedprops10 ай бұрын
Thank you! The first time we used the catalyzed clear coat, we sprayed the extra on EVA foam. The finish is a clear plastic that is pretty brittle, so any flex in the foam caused a spiderweb of cracks. There is a clear PlastiDip that works well on EVA foam, but you do need to spray a lot of layers to get a glossy look.

An easy way to continue that pattern would be just to take a sheet of sculpey or epoxy clay and cram it in to the pattern the remove or and bake / cure and you will have a perfect pattern stamp so you don't have to hand sculpt those details. You might have to use a little petroleum jelly or other oil if the clay really wants to stick to the plastic so test it first. Pattern stamps are invaluable in sculpting for repeating details.

Great result, but I with all the clay modeling and shaping, I‘d rather have modified the STL in Fusion 360. Sure, it‘s been 5 years and you might have had parts printed out from way then and not have had the original file anymore, but it‘s still on thingiverse. I think over all, that might have been less hustle.

i can sense there was some less than happy thing that went down between punished props and tested. Given the more mainstream/greedy direction tested has gone, i used to follow tested daily to see their collab projects with actual maker such as yourself bill and brit. i have fallen out of interest with their content, Adam is less a maker now, more a repetitive salesman who casually spill misinformation with little remorse, let alone integrity. and if its any consolation, as a maker, i went as far as to unsubscribe to tested, i would encourage others to do the same.
