Actually a _fantastic_ first project that covers all the basics pretty much: layering, doing a core, bevelling, using a dremel, heatforming, methods to seal, painting and blending. Really covers almost every base for basic foam propmaking imo.

The bottom wrap would be to keep the stalk from continuing to split down the handle causing the axe head to become loose and then the handle to eventually split in two. So it totally would be for structural integrity :)

It was cool and kind of nostalgic seeing you do an old fashioned foam project. I miss those. A very decent beginner project, indeed. I have bother versions of all three of Bills books and they come in handy quite often. Oh, and I laughed out loud listening to Bill singing, by the way. It was amazing. Thanks, guys!

I must admit that when you started, I thought "hummm... today she seems like "what the hell, let's do this as fast as possible and I don't care butchering the project"", but I also must admit that the more the project was going forward, the more I was telling myself "wow, it's turning out so nice!" and now I'm totally sold by the result which is clean in it's shape and the paint job is top notch! I love the colors you've used and the gradients you've made, it totally fits the in-game prop. In the end, after seeing all your other foam projects those past years, I should be more confident that it's obviously going to end well, and it's always fascinating to me to see someone work and who knows her/his stuff and turn some blank sheets of foam into a totally organic object, perfectly sculpted and perfectly painted. Nice job! PS: Seeing Bill singing with headphones on, it makes me tell myself "Damn, so that's how I sound when I'm 3D modeling and singing at the same time with my headphones on!" :D Both of you, please take care! Cheers from France!

Great Project. Love when Britt does content. Way back in school, I took an anthropology class that taught how to knape rocks to make blades. The big scalloped areas are correct, but often we would need to knape in those big areas. So it's ok to have smaller curves in the big ones. The orginal model with all the smooth scallops just struck me as odd. It wasn't till you were carving them out I noticed what was bothering me.

i'm not sure if this would be built, however i do like the idea of a glow in the dark, version of a sword from the Lego Nexo knights series. the one i'm thinking of is the green one from the first series of sets, it's pretty much a katana, with a transparent green blade with a silver handle. it looks like an overwatch character's weapon, however it's used by the Nexo knights version, of Lloyd.
