So I've never had the experience or heard first hand of anyone whose work actually welcomes them back after Maternity Leave. Most back to work accounts border on horrendous for new moms. I hope James can model how new moms should be welcomed back. Welcome back and congratulations on having "just a little" baby girl, Olivia!!

I worked in an office in 2015 that threw a baby shower for two pregnant women before they gave birth. And from what I saw they were welcomed back after giving birth. Celebrated, baby pictures passed around, their spouses were welcomed to stop by. They even brought the babies to work for a day too. I still think paid leave should be standard in this country regardless of when you started, but that office had it if you “worked there at least a year”.

All moms should be with their babies for at least 6 months. She just had a baby, it is brutal to leave your newborn and get back on the job, while your body and soul needs to recover. Paid maternity leave is crucial. Just give Olivia a 3 month paid maternity leave and not a welcome while she is wearing a birth pad and needs to pump every two hours.

@@butterflymoon6368 I replied yesterday, but I don't see it in the comments now. You can find articles and documentaries on the fact that only 9 states give maternity leave and the period varies. I am from Europe, and I stayed 2 years with paid leave, job secured upon my return. 3 years is maximum for a special needs child. I cannot imagine going back to work not even a month after giving birth. Dogs and cats stay with theyr offspring more than that.
