Our Dr. said that homebirths were for puppies. Turns out being in a hospital for delivery saved my now 17 year old daughters life. It's for sure and individual choice for such a personal and important day, each situation is different and credit to all those amazing Midwives.

Lol ya. Except what happens when the midwife doesn’t check the heart tones enough and the baby goes into distress? What happens when you need an emergency c section and are in your living room? What happens when the baby has an unknown congenital defect? When all women gave birth at home with “traditional “ knowledge let’s remember that more died from completely preventable things. It’s all great until something seriously goes wrong.

A lot of stress is caused by the medicalisation of birth. This then results in complications, and can result into C-section. I think we are led to believe that there was so much death when things were traditional, a fine way to lead us into medicalised birth. Main reason for deaths in the traditional (many 100 years ago) times is lack of hygiene, something that is now in the past. Although I think it is essential to have a back up plan (in the sense of proximity to a hospital), I believe staying out of hospitals is a safer way to have a positive birth experience without complications. Unfortunately, hospitals and the pharmaceutical sector make no money if you do not enter the hospital.

Doula Frank there’s just no evidence to support this 🤷🏼‍♀️ 0 evidence points towards more complications and c sections in women who have medicated vs natural births. Complications often come from diabetes, hypertension, lack of prenatal care, placental abnormalities, being overdue, a large ban + small mother...

Kai M you should check out Evidence Based Birth, an organization that reviews all of the evidence for and against birth practices. What you’ve said is just literally wrong.
