They could at least spruce the place up a bit by getting permission from the council if they can put a lick of paint around the grandstands, and water pressure clean some of the exposed concrete.

Keep it. The fans are the backbone of any sport. In rugby league Leichardt is what makes the NRL unique atmosphere wise, when compared to any other sport in Australia. Playing at Accor is an embarrassment to the game, no atmosphere and looks stupid. Souths need a 25k home too. This mistaken happened before in the A League, the higher ups not listening to the fans and taking the financial option over what is best for the fans and therefore, lost half of the fans because of their poor decisions. Don’t let the same thing happen in the nrl. This is Wests Tigers and Rugby League tradition, renovate it a little if you need to but don’t scrap it, otherwise you will lose a lot of fans and the heart of soul of rugby league in Australia.

I went to an Amco cup game at Leichardt in the mid 70s. It hasn't changed. Easts [again] and Parra [again] got beautiful new stadiums ......

I fly down from the Sunshine Coast every year to watch footy at Leichhardt, i was there on Saturday and as usual i loved every minute of it. If you're spending 25mins lining up for a beer you're a Leichhardt rookie. I spent Thursday night in the Royce Simmons vip lounge watching the Penrith game and the Saturday night on Leichhardt Hill The Hill wins hands down. Long live Leichhardt oval ❤

Watched the tigers play their ‘home’ game in Hamilton last year vs the wahs. 28,000 people, packed, top quality rugby ground, 60% profit. Awesome experience to see the wahs and I’m sure a great outcome for tigers financially, though their fans do miss that game

Leave a hill at least. I'm not a Tigers fan but i loved the Tigers playing back at Leichhardt. I was happy for them & i can't stand the club but if they need money & get it done up, please leave a hill, that's footy. It's like taking a hill away from the SCG & Adelaide Oval

Not sure why taxpayers are always being asked to foot the bill for stadiums, it seems to reward incompetent administrators who like to charge high ticket prices and unbelievable prices for F&B, then don’t have to common sense to put a percentage into a Stadium future fund.

Well the West Tigers can pay from it. Why should the tax payer? We have pensioners who have paid taxes all there lives who can't get operations or are living on the street. If teams or there wind bag ceo's want stadiums, let them pay for it.

Wests put in 90% of the money, yet the Tigers supporters of old are trying to play the tune in which I think is not their call. Wests could give the Tigers the flick, and move back to either Lidcombe Oval, or go halves in a huge stadium in Liverpool with the Dogs, then see how the Tigers fare.

The only reason that the big stadiums get a regular face lift, is because the corporate state government ad US vested councils, have friends that are developers and builders , they line their pockets first, then send their money to their shareholders over seas

Go ahead and upgrade it. Just don't ask the taxpayers to foot the bill. When we pay taxes, there is a reasonable expectation that our money goes to projects and infrastructure that benefits all Australians (roads, hospitals, schools, etc). I'm tired of tax money being spent of facilities that only benefit private corporations. The NRL clubs want to nationalise the cost of upgrades, but you can be damn sure that they'll privatise the profits. In short, we pay for new stadiums that we can't access, and the clubs keep all of the profits generated by those taxpayer funded facilities. Someone make it make sense.

Keep it 100%. Even if it’s not your team playing it’s still a great footy outing especially in great weather. Bring a blanket, snacks, sit up on the hill.

They need upgrade it but gradually bc the govt clearly don’t want to give money for it and the nrl probably don’t wanna use their own. Like Kenty said start with small improvements like having portaloos and beer/snack tents. Most fans aren’t gonna be asking for them to completely rebuild the stadium right away

It’s different when the ground has as much historical significance. But also multi use as it does. It isn’t just being used by the Tigers, it was the training facility for the Matilda’s during the World Cup on top of other codes using it.

No, the tigers are responsible. If the NRL was, they would go broke. They made a 50 million profit last year, the stadium needs 30 million at least.. and if they did it, 16 other clubs would put their hands out and ask for their fair share.

Leichhardt should host 1 or 2 games a year against traditional Sydney clubs, Easts or Souths The future is Campbelltown

Campbelltown is a shithole of a stadium and you’d be lucky if 1% of the 16000 that were at the game on Saturday travelled out to Campbelltown every week to watch their team. The local crowd out that way barely break half capacity most weeks, they clearly don’t want to go watch the team play so why take away from the Leichhardt faithful that do? Yes the stadium desperately needs an upgrade (as does Campbelltown) but not playing at Leichhardt would be a massive dagger in the heart of the fanbase.
