I mean, i guess i can understand why you might expect more from Ren given his level of rapping and songwriting, but i think you should consider that he spends Monday through Friday in hospital for hours on end. Its been five days since Dotta dropped his track (a day later than he promised, i might add) and he not only wrote and filmed a solid track, but he flipped the script on the entire battle rap game. I think Dotta calling people out to battle is fine, but he takes it to the comment sections and attacks people there instead of keeping it behind the mic. In the end, Ren has turned up the heat by putting him in front of a much larger audience and he did it literally and figuratively with "amazing grace". How does Dotta respond to that? With his own sense of grace or like a bully? I hope Dotta is prepared; all eyes are on his next move. Honestly, Ren gave so much more than i expected.

Yeah, someone else mentioned how busy Ren's schedule is and I did not put that into account. With limited time and for one take, it was dope. I also liked how he turned it back on Dotta, putting eyes on him and see what he does with this opportunity.

Ren's not about hate, he's all about positivity, uplifting people so it's no shock he ended it like he did. He played it out like Dotta wanted in the beginning then switched it to how he plays. For someone who doesn't rap battle, he held his own.

Ren has spoken eloquently in interviews about the history of Hip-hop. He understands the significance of Rap and Hip-Hop being the voice of Black Communities. He stresses that he is not pretending that he is from that urban environment. He just likes the music and personally I think that's fair enough.

I liked this without the beat. It really forced us to listen to his words. But to be real about it, Ren is spending his entire mornings in hospital getting IVs of drugs in him as part of his Lyme disease and autoimmunity treatments, and is incredibly busy with his own stuff coming out over the next month, which is likely his real priority. I agree, he probably found a single period of time in the afternoon or evening and wrote it out. If he would have worked on it for a long time it would have been better. But the writing isn't bad, and the performance of it, live and one take, and there for all of us to see, was very good. Loved the jokes. Loved the Ren based realness at the end.

Ren has been deep into the heaviest part of his treatments in Canada. His heart was not into beating anyone else down. I think he spent the week since Dotta's diss really fine tuning what he felt about things and seeing the conflicted feelings of his fan base. He showed his skills to the rap world, but rap battles are not where his heart lies. Think he did a great job staying true to himself. And i subbed to Dotta and resolved to not only give him a listen but maybe relsx some rigid thinking myself.

In their original conversation it was Ren who asked for this battle to be done live...one take...like a battle should be done...but Dotta immediately started making excuses saying he writes too much and can't remember his stuff and then said he'd do it IF he could read his lyrics...Ren beat Dotta right there. Also...the music at the end..."Amazing Grace"...was exactly how Ren approached this battle...so even the music was a double...saying "I killed you...With Amazing Grace"

I expected a traditional rap battle, but that is not in Ren's character to do something like that. I expected Ren to BODY Dotta, but you can not convince me he BODIED him like a traditional rap battle. So my expectations was in the wrong place. I should have expected Ren to do what Ren did: smack him with some funny bars, skill, thought provoking, and kill him with kindness. Which only a few skilled artist can do something like that. So Ren BODIED him with grace. 😂😂😂
