It's a really slow burn | My thoughts on Zenless Zone Zero

Hey, howdy, hello! I just wanted to share how I felt about ZZZ. It has a very rough start but I can definitely say that once the wheels start turning, they turn! If the devs continue the pattern that they're setting in the latter half of the game, ZZZ can definitely thrive for both a casual and hardcore audience and I am more than happy to be here for the ride!

Good summary. I would add that another problem with the TV system is that it's not only slow and boring for the most part, but they also add a metric ton of NEW stuff each and every time you have to interact with it. There are still too many type of TVs... In Hollow Zone it actually works I would think. That is literally the only place they should have used it.

I couldn't have said it better myself. I've been anticipating this game and its met most of my expectation. But we need a variety of challenges at the beginning and not like the same enemy type in a different font we have right now. Cause I'm OBSESSED with the art direction and vibes. I'd say Gameplay= 6/10(Playing Keyboard) Story 8.5/10 Art Direction= 9/10 IMO

I've honestly been thinking about getting this game (despite my phone storage 😭) because of how cool the combat looks and that it's more linear than open-world. I don't have much free time to grind and explore open-world games. Seriously like, the only open-world game I'm playing is WuWa and even then I have a looong backlog of side-quests. So ZZZ was appealing to me since I don't have to explore much. But I was still unsure about getting this game because none of the characters, aside from Billy and Von Lycaon, really interested me. I don't know if I'll be able to get through the tedious parts that you mentioned but you still convinced me enough to try this game someday 😊 Who knows, maybe I'll fall in love with it too. I remember never having any plans of playing WuWa when they promoted it because Mortefi was the only character that interested me but here I am at UL 39 lmao so maybe it will be same for ZZZ. its been funny to see the community going through it with this one. never played a gacha but i'm a devil may cry diehard, and homie sold it to me as dmc with a grind. all the cutscenes and in-between combat stuff is just what i thought gachas were all about.

100% Honestly, my issues with the game just entirely stem from the fact that the devs should have allowed us access to the harder content sooner. I'm fine with the storymode being baby casual easy, but the stuff I'm seeing at level 30 is the kinda stuff I'd have love to have gotten at level 15-20

I too built my main team around Anby. Dancing around enemies is good and all, but I prefer them to stand still while my DPS characters drill their behind with a jackhammer. Anby is the one who makes it happen. Wish there were more Rallies to offer some stamina challenge with a difficult fight at the end, without any stupid timers.

For sure. The rallies were some of the most content I had in the game just because I actually got to play the game for more than a 3 minute interval

Felt like it was unfortunate timing w the elden ring dlc that came out recently, setting expectations way too high that they just drop a game as soon as they’re bored.

The game's pacing is a real issue though. The only reason I stuck to it was cause I convinced myself that there surely had to be something good going on, you know? You can't expect everyone to have that same mindset

For me i want to give the zzz devs a chance rn i'm enjoying the game but got a little disapointed in the game maybe becuase i had to high of a expectation and if anything the hsr devs just proves that they are willing to listen more to the community complains and issue so i don't want to just straight up just blame the devs for not meeting expactation i rather see what's the future direction of zzz rather then just quitting the game in v1.0 i mean it's just like wuwa right? Everyone enjoyed v1.1 so tldr let the dev cook first then i'll judge the game whether to play or drop it btw love the vid

For sure. There is a good skeleton within the game that the devs can build on top off. The issue mainly lies in just how awful the pace is in the early game, even worse than WuWa's. It is a lot of fun once you get past that hurdle though

Im going to actually have to disagree with your take here. Not THAT ITS WRONG BTW. Let me provide a perspective from someone who enjoyed the prologue immensely and is just a very patent person in general so forgive my text wall if it ends up as one. The game IS great from the start if you let it be. Because Suprisingly its aim is to invest you into its world. Which is something i dont see gacha games doing. From the very start they bring interest to whats the main focus of this world which is the hollow, how it affects daily life of new eridu, how people live or take advantage of this. Theres a SHIT ton of interactive tidbits in the game that explains so much of the world like slang, how the interknot functions, proxy work etc etc. I absolutely despised genshin because of how much they DRAGGED the plot and how unrewarding the gameplay is and they made this so much better in this game because the story functions in small seperate arcs with the twins storyline being built upon more and more with each chapter. But i think the combat hits so hard is because of its pacing. The TV sections arguably to me ARE needed. Because the game isnt just built around the combat and thats the point im trying to make here. They didn't just make a game with flashy combat. They made a game with a world that has so much care into it. Those tv sections are how they incorporate the protagonists existence into it because they arent just sideline characters theyre clearly important. I think the game would just not be... What it is without these things people dont want in them imo. Because whenever i think about ZZZ i dont think about its combat. I think about EVERYTHING it has to offer, its characters, the plot, new eridu, the hollow, the adorable bangboos, the HIA. Now i absolutely despise gacha games. All of them and i had to endure so much teasing from my friends because oh how much i enjoyed this game. Hell i didn't even feel a need to pull for characters because the cunning hares are really cool enough as is! ZZZ is a game that wants you to care about MORE than just its gacha foundations it was built upon because they could've just pumped out another mediocre pump dump like any other studio can but they didn't. Maybe you can argue that thats the trickery, the lure into getting you to spend and that CAN be true but i definitely felt no urges to spend a single dime on this game because of fomo. But ZZZ is what it is because of the things that people are deadass taking for granted. The models dont look the same, the npcs have alot of variety, every agent plays very differently whilst remaining in their proper functionality of their combat roles, the atmosphere of the downtime between combat just walking around sixth street. It all comes together in such a wonderful package that im almost ashamed that i enjoy it so much. But i think my takeaway is that.. In a world where everything needs to be instantaneous? Im glad a games come out and takes its time because ima be real things are zipping by way too fast these days and no one wants to just live in the moment which is something this game has reminded me of by making the combat fast paced and having lots of downtime between each beat before you get into another rush. If the game was just continuous combat trust when i say, it will overstay its welcome far more quicker than expected. Okay alot of text ugh. But this is definitely still a good video! Because it tackles the gripes that the community unfortunately has without resorting to whats essentially an argument on twitter. but we both share one point of agreement and that its definitely not for people who are impatient but its sure as hell rewarding for those who dont fight against the current that is just trying to bring you on a pretty funky ride.
