So what if the bowler intentionally pauses his action waits for the batsman to leave his crease and run him out.... See not many batsman tends to look at then bowler's hand as the ball is delievered... So let us say that the batsman is within the crease as the bowler loads his action and he thinks the ball will be released and he moves away,but the bowler pauses his action and runs him out... I think this will be againist the spirit of the game.... Thats why in the law it is said that till u are EXPECTED TO DELIEVER in a normal fashion... But if u change that to TILL THE BALL LEAVES THE BOWLERS HAND then there will be a new wrongun which is a bowler juking his full action without releasing the ball and running out the batsman...So i agree that batsman being 2 yard short even before the bowler lands his front foot is againist the spirit... similarly a bowler trying to run a batsman by juking his delievery action and not actually delievering will not be in the spirit of the game either...

I think the reason why “mankading” is frowned upon is because the bowler isn’t really putting in effort to earn the wicket. For example, it would require much more effort to actually bowl to a batsmen and get him out that way. Where as mankading the batsmen requires almost no effort and therefore ones not ‘truly’ earning the wicket, its just due to the fault of the batsmen.But it all comes down to the fact that its a law within the game, and laws are put in place for a reason.
@saminder9874 жыл бұрын
1) arent all wickets due to the fault of the batsman? 2) many times bowler bowls a very poor delivery but because of batsman's fault or ground's dimensions or even wind direction it ends up in the hands of fielder near boundary, would you also call that unfair and bowler not 'deserving the wicket' since that could have gone for a boundary any other day

Field restrictions have changed through the years. The number of bouncers per over have reduced, yet batsman can play any odd shot they want, switch-hit, scoop, whatever. The free hit rule was introduced, to penalise the bowler. If I'm not mistaken, the new ball is being taken sooner than before, so excessive reverse swing is also out of the equation. So one rule, which is in the bowler's favour, people are crying foul. I won't be surprised if in a few years time, a free hit will be declared for a wide ball.

@@juliancollins8162 I don't see the reason for it to be changed. Weather the spectacle of the match is ruined or not is subjective. @juliancollins81624 жыл бұрын
@@pratiknarayanan6586 I believe it should be changed because I watch cricket to see the high level skills of the batsmen and the bowlers, a mankad does not involve any skill. All it would take would be a two run penalty given for a batsman leaving his crease early and then he would lose more than he would gain from leaving his crease early to pinch an extra run. The third umpire will be checking every ball for a no ball in the ipl this year so as part of that check he could also check whether the batsman is out his crease. This would stop the batsmen trying to gain an unfair advantage and also not bring the controversy a mankad does.
@pratiknarayanan65864 жыл бұрын
@@juliancollins8162 I do see your point. But in last year's IPL, I don't think they checked every ball. It was either the ones they weren't sure of, and the ones where a wicket has fallen. But if there is a system, that could check every ball, without fail, and not using any time, then maybe. But as of now, it seems impractical because even with all this technology, umpires don't pick all the no balls, and a batsman out of his crease is much more common. But still, if rules could be changed, then the bouncer rule should change, the beamer rule should change. To make things even for both parties. Till then, let it be.

Here's a little query then what about the fielders in the 30 yard circle when the bowler is coming in to bowl they are little outside the circle and they come in as the bowl is delivered something should be done there as well why can't fielders stand still at their positions because you are so engrossed in the game that you do such things it is not to steal a single or something. Something should be done there as well isn't it!?

Harsha sir I think Aron Finch was well ahead of his crease because of that he was safe and completed a run. It was against India only but not in the recent series. May be two years before it was shown in television too in that match.

Having looked online a lot for history and incidents of Mankading and it's interesting as to who has what opinion. I believe this may be due to the approach to the game depending on what part of the world people are from. It does appear that the vast majority of those actually doing it (and supporting it) are from India, or of Indian descent/origin, while there appear to be very few recorded incidences of it from elsewhere, strongly suggesting it's seen in India as a more legitimate and encouraged thing to do. Those involved in this debate, while being hugely biased aren't neccesarily wrong - certainly not in the laws of the game. That being said it's a scurrilous thing to do, BUT there HAS to be something in place to stop batsmen taking an unfair advantage too. The suggestion of calling 'one short' seems to be a very good one here. For me it achieves the aim instantly, without causing negative controversy and bad feeling in the game. Cricket is a bigger thing and doesn't need this kind of incident ruining it, whichever side of the fence we're on.

The counter to the point and observation is that most of the people getting run out seem to be from anglo or white descent who observed the fact that this against the spirit of the game based on the incident with Brown and Mankad in Australia. The vilification of Mankad by the Australian press seems to have impressed on the anglo world that it's not okay to do this. Those who are saying that this is against the spirit of the game being hugely biased against saying that this against the spirit. The other observation is that potentially players of Indian origin or descent don't leave their crease. It goes both ways, and if you take the bias out of the Brown Mankad incident you will see this this is okay.

Exactly. If its in the rule book its not against spirit of cricket. You can't tolerate a bowler going an inch further the line while bowling. You even penalize him/her with free hit then how come batsmen get privileges ?

Harsha should convey this to Virat who was mocking his teammate in IPL. If Jimmy shredded the photo Virat is no better and unfortunate that Ashwin had to put up with the shit. If it's some teammate is fine the mocking comes from captain shows the captain temperament.
@cricketcrackle7764 жыл бұрын
Ashwin is not virats teammate how stupid people are man can't you understand the franchise system when a guy play for particular franchise he is loyal to that franchise only and what he did was justifying because ash moked him after getting him catch out so its just a players fight but at the end both play for team and ash still was clapping and praising virat when he scored first 100 in pink ball test and virat praised him in first test so both are friends sometimes we say gali words to our friend while playing or in heat of the moment but we don't have cameras around us so no one bother it after game finishes we get back to normal state and people from camera think that they hate eachother.
@cricketcrackle7764 жыл бұрын
By the way that doesn't show temprament thats show competition.
@surya969624 жыл бұрын
Dude watch the video of match where kohli mocks with gesture of Mankad while taking Ashwin catch. Ashwin was angry and throwing things in the dug out. IPL was a 2 month contract. When you are captaining the country you are still the skipper of India while playing for a IPL franchise. Why Ashwin has been consistently sidelined and not even given a single series till now in ODIs and T20's. He's still the best player in T20 and a goat in test. Even they try to sideline him in test.
@surya969624 жыл бұрын
Being loyal to your franchise doesn't mean you have to mock the players. When the captain and premium bowler fight and you mock each other it doesn't bode well. Even Vaughan in cricbuzz commented that ash and Virat looks like they don't like each other. Can you expect dohni to do such things. It's ofcourse about temperament.

I disagree calling it run-out, wen the striker steps out its called stumping, then when the non striker steps out why it should be called run-out.
@petruccifanboi3 жыл бұрын
By that same logic, why should a batsman be allowed to stand outside a crease to a fast bowler to gain advantage of negating swing or deliberately hinder the rhythm and the need for bowler to change his length??

Its very clear that even a bowler oversteps by an inch still its consider as a noball as per ICC as per cricket rules similiarly the same oppurtunity should give to bowlers by the time the bowler deliver the ball the batsmen sholud be in crease it is legal and if mankadind done by bowler it is a fair thing cricketing rules are same for both batsmen and bowlers whatever ash did that is 100% correct

I don't like mankad, some sort of run penalty when a batsmen is caught leaving the crease early would be preferable to the bowler being able to dismiss the batsman

Actually I don't have a problem calling it Mankading. All Mankad did was show the smartness and fairness. It should be cheered not degraded.
@ianhammond60092 жыл бұрын
........or neither! If it's in the rules it's legal, but personally I think both cheering or degrading it is wrong. We definitley need to find a better way of dealing with it. Batsmen must be kept honest AND the decency of the game must be protected, therefore the idea of calling a short run would be an excellent idea, as opposed to delivering a premeditated Mankad. Everyone wins.

If it's okay for non-striker to come out of the crease for 1-2 Inches than it would be also fare for him/her to shot by 1-2 Inches while running to other end and fielding team need to apologise to Batsman for running him/her out.
