It's a Super Bicycle. Grady Daniels’ bicycle has 300 pounds of options, accessories and a TV set. It all started in 1973. Grady lives in Rome, Georgia and he was proud of his 20-inch bike. So, he added some car headlights … and then brake lights. Piece by piece he added more options and accessories until he created the Super Bicycle. It’s his main transportation and the speedometer reads close to 25,500 miles. Remember, it weights 300 pounds. His record is a close to 90-mile journey … in one day. In case you’re wondering what’s on Grady Daniels’ Super Bicycle, here’s the list.
• Six sets of headlights
• Four sets of tail lights
• Two sets of airhorns
• AM/FM stereo clock radio
• Six speakers
• Stereo system
• CB radio
• TV set
This story aired on WSB-TV Channel 2 Action News in 1975.

Long before CNN and Fox News the Traveler series with Andy Johnston was an Emmy award winning program that showcased amazing people, unusual things, local legends, food finds, outdoor activities, folk art, and family fun. In 2022 the Walter J. Brown Media Archives at the University of Georgia founded The Original Georgia Traveler -- Andy Johnston Collection to preserve and maintain the stories.
The Traveler Series celebrates life and living in America in the 1970s. These are true stories and funny stories about nostalgia, small towns, traditional life and the good old days. The stories give us ways to compare then and now. Folklore, music, handcrafts, vanishing America and unusual people. .
This story is presented for educational and preservation purposes and is covered under Fair Use. At the time it was broadcast the television station had a blanket music license with ASCAP, BMI and SESAC. The station maintains that license today. All music used is covered under that agreement.

Great Story! You know with LED headlamps, flat screen TVs and lithium batteries he could shave 100# off that bike these days. :)

Grady was really thin. After pumping that bike for 25,000 mile you'd expect him to have legs like an Olympic runner.

What a cool story. He rode 86 miles total in a day. On a single speed, 300 pound, top heavy bike. Remove all the "comforts of home" so it's totally stock and try riding his bike half the distance. Good luck with that.....try to avoid any hills. What beast. These days you would get pulled over by the cops just so they could have a closer look at all the accessories. Good times, good times.

He was a real surprise. It was a 20-inch bike so he had to put in sone work to pedal it. If you check the story you can see that he's changed to heavy-duty tires to handle the weight.

Peewee Herman's bike has nothing on this guy's. Hope it doesn't end up in the basement at the Alamo.

This is such a fresh story! A guy like this would have been a true American original at that time.

Good man but unfortunately the ride's too top heavy and wobbly, he'd be roadkill on his first day here in the UK with our much narrower roads 🧐
