Nothing like that hypnotic, underwater, psychedelic, Throb. I have the Drybell (which is good) but the best one I have ever heard is The Shiftee Vibe = OMG. Great tones & playing gents. You both were playing-Inspired. Huge Trower fan. These all sounded Legit.

Awesome! My Thorpy ER-2 arrived on Tuesday and it is unbelievable. I just posted in the Facebook group that it connects straight to my soul in inexplicable ways. Also upgraded my power to a Gigrig Gen X 14 which is amazing!

Fantastic episode Gents - Still my favourite vibe is my (now discontinued) Voodoo Lab Micro Vibe. It's the pedal that's lasted the longest on my board - about 18 or so years - nothing too fancy - photocell and sounds correct - two knobs - turned at either 11:00 & 2:00 or 2:00 an 11:00 and bliss ensues

After years of trying different vibe pedals and not getting exactly what I wanted, I ended up very happy with the Supro harmonic tremolo pedal. Just something to consider if any of you guys are looking for a vibe pedal, but aren’t happy with how dark they tend to sound.

Hello guys, nice episode 🙂 A couple of things to note about Hiwatts, since I have a 1974 100W. The high impendance inputs are the lower ones, on the upper inputs guitars sound a bit mushy. Bridging the channels with cable also reduces impednace I think . I get the best tone by using a lehle p-split, sending two independent cables to lower inputs (lower Normal and Brill) AND ground lift the one (ground lift button on lehle p-split). This way, it retains the clarity and glassines, glorious tones.

Some great tones! I use a a cheap Mosky CH'Vibe Mini Vibe pedal(however it is optical ) into any one of my BluesBreaker pedals and it just gives this great chewy feel AND sound! Love it! Great video guys! Have a great weekend!

I have the Earthquaker Devices Depths. It's an analog photocell circuit, it does not have a vibrato mode. It's got some extra controls that allow you to tweak and modify the basic vibe tone (still sounds like a vibe). Anyway, I think it's a great option. I can't stand the way fuzz or drive before modulation sounds, and I've found modulation never sounds right to me before fuzz, I never (or very rarely) use fuzz with the vibe pedal. Just a lot of overdrive from pedals and/or amp, after the vibe.

J Mascis uses a Retrovibe, but exclusively for vibrato. It took over my Magnatone style vibrato as my main vibrato sound too, but the real pleasure now is in having a univibe on my board.

I have the Depths also, it's a real analog photocell circuit. I think it's a fantastic option, sounds awesome. It doesn't have the vibrato mode of the original vibe or some of the faithful recreations, but I've never cared for that setting anyway.

Just the very beginning......that HiWatt DR103 is the one for me. Holy Moly Fellas! Why go home? Only thing missing was the lub-dub DryBell Vibe Machine, the Pedal Whisperer made that one of your best episodes both tonally and educationally. That was one of best sounds in a long time and that is saying something; cause I don't think I have ever really heard a bad one on this channel.

I first heard Dark Side of the Moon in 1987 at 9years old, several years before learning the guitar. I had no idea what a vibe pedal was but there was a sound on that album that I loved. I’ve been univibe obsessed ever since.

You guys missed a killer! The BMF Model 915 is a blueprinted copy of my 1968 Shin Ei Univibe in a tiny form factor. Small enough to fit on a board and really does sound as close as you can get to my original!! My original never leaves the studio now…

I'm happy with my RWEAVERFX violet vibe. I have been through a few and this one does it best for me. I am a Robin trower fanatic and the violet vibe does it better than the dejavibe, which is what he uses. I also like the sabadius. The pedal pawn is just too expensive, they are definitely proud of their pedals.

So, thinking out loud about the fidelity of the Thorpy...I remember emailing Jam about using a buffer in front of my RetroVibe and they actually recommended it because, unlike fuzzes and treble boosters, vintage Uni-Vibes are low input impedance devices that benefit from buffers because it adds that high end back in and increases the overall fidelity, which has definitely been my experience. So, I wonder if the Thorpy has a higher input impedance, thus not needing any buffer 🤔

I have to say I still love my JHS Unicorn v2, which was reviewed here many years ago and I think the tap tempo/ratio setting was misunderstood, as was said in the video at the time. Also takes an expression pedal so you can do 'the thing'. Tru-Fi Ghost Vibe my pick of these four.

I went through much gnashing of teeth and wringing of hands trying to work out which vibe to buy a few years back. Truthfully I only use it for that one Pink Floyd tune and the occasional Robin Trower tune - so it's not super duper important - but I ended up with the Uni - Verb mostly because I don't have any J Rocket pedals and I felt good about supporting them. Plus it sounds really good on that one Pink Floyd song! All that said - listening to Mick do that Hendrixy thing makes me think I need to expand my horizons a bit!!
