Not wearing body armour may be a problem. If you wear you vault suit, you can wear body armour parts over the top which would greatly increase your survivability

I wore body armor up to after 1/3 into the game and then no body armor after 2/3 in, once you get the perks amped up you are in pretty good shape. As always personal preference.

Use the armor repair station to beef up your favorite vault suit. Then beef up any of the armor pieces you prefer. Put them on over your vault suit. Then don the power armor. The bonuses stack...

@@RussDodson42 It layers, it doesn't stack. and only certain things will show through. Limbs (armor only, no legendary), Head (all bonuses). Nothing from chest or undergarment unless you step out of the PA, even with an empty frame. By "show through" I mean if the PA is depleted, you get the bonus from the armor underneath. This is unmodded, of course.

This is true and VERY important especially for someone looting everything not hiding quick enough from the player. PA: - sets the strength to 10 (or 11?) and carry capacity calculates from that (not counting possible upgrades to the PA) - has in general a very high armor and should eclipse anything else - with mods/upgrades from the station can add specific bonus like resitance to radiation - forget about sneaking/being silent - overrides more or less everything else in terms of clothing/armor a person wears and whatever mods you have on them no armor at all: - uses strength, adds bonus from perks (like in the stength-tree) and can come out with a larger carry capacity but needs dedication - armor and resistences come from the clothing you wear with barely any upgrades possible - good for sneaking - generally a bad idea armor: - 6 pieces wearable over most things - uses strength, adds bonus from perks (like in the stength-tree) and can be modded with pouches and deep pouches which in the end come out with a larger carry capacity than a PA, but needs either luck with looting or perks - flexible system with armor types and what they are good against (Raider: bad generalist armor, Leather: against Energy weapons, Metal: against Physical Weapons, Combat: good generalist armor) - can be tinkered to whatever someone needs like supporting sneaking or raised damage resistence

A few things that I hope will be helpful. 1. all guns contain ammunition pick them up even if you drop them later. 2. You can take mods off of guns and armor and put it on your weapons and armor even if you can't craft that mod Yet. 3. You are better off collecting and scrapping everything at your Camp rather than selling it especially early in the game. 4. Crafting is one of the best sources of experience. 5. Store your loot in a workshop or settlement workbench (it is possible for all other containers to respawn) items stored in this way are available from any workbench in that settlement . Local leader allows you to set up set up trade routes between settlements this allows your junk items (only) to be available at all the different settlements that are thus connected.

A good way to check if someone is an enemy or not is to use V.A.T.S. from a distance, if the persons name is in red they are an enemy if it's green they are not.

Nice to see you finally browsing the perk chart! Btw the lvl is the required level for that particular perk. It is not a perk tree where you have to have all the previous perks to get a new one. For example when you have luck lvl 6 you can get the luck lvl 6 perk, simple as that.

Big Jim is one of the best melee weapons in the entire game especially if you upgraded with hooks. it will have a good chance of Breaking the target's leg and Disarming it

About the pip boy. A few years ago I saw a video from an electronics wiz who took the toy and put a working computer (smartphone) into it for the display, with a program to simulate the pip-boy functions, wired into the controls. It played the music, had a flashlight, and showed the different status screens, etc. It was so cool and fun. I'm sure it cost a thousand to make, even from scratch, but so worth it. I think he upgraded the padding as well, so that it fit better.

The original was designed to work with your cell phone, there should be a latch that opens the top and where you can secure the phone so that only the screen shows (or at least on the phones that were mostly out when the game released). Then there was an app on both iPhone and Android that emulated the pip boy software. As it was connected to the Internet, you could even use it to manage your inventory on the "pip boy" while you played. That software is long gone however, but I think once Amazon made their show there is now fully functioning ones you can buy but of course they're expensive.

maybe someone has mentioned below, some items project power wirelessly. like the pylon you built. the tv and alot of lights get power wirelessly too. if they have a red icon (person/bolt) it means there isn't a person assigned or it isn't getting power. if it's green they are.

I have one of those Pip Boy things, still in its case it came in. They were a special pre-order bonus when the game came out. They were supposed to hold a cell phone, but by the time they came out, most cell phones were too big to fit in them. Not sure if it's the same as the one you were sent.

To summon up building with wiring: Some items, like lamps, neon signs, TVs does not need a direct wire, but can be powered by placing connectors nearby. Items that require direct power will always have that little connector on them. There are specific connectors which will allow you to pass wires through walls. They can be finicky to place, but work well.

I can definitely tell the settlement building and crafting system is drawing you in despite the complications lol. Something about it is almost perfect for the post apocalyptic setting. It absolutely can be confusing but if it seems like for some reason you are stuck or not able to make progress its possibly related to story progression with the minutemen faction. They are sort of the gateway faction you are meant to discover and align with first to sort of learn some tutorial aspects of the settlement system. And the Local Leader thing is just a perk prerequisite. Lots of crafting and building will require specific perks i.e. Gun Nut being the most obvious for gun mods. Jank is absolutely Bethesda's trademark, but its a special kind of love/hate relationship with the jank. You absolutely could spend the same amount of play time spent in Skyrim just mastering the workshop system and not even have ever made it to Diamond City yet. They combined two very distinct and different gameplay niches, a crafting and settlement management game on top of a Skyrim-sized RPG and narrative but they made it so you can uncover each of them at your own pace.

I love how you are doing so many of the things I did in 2015 when I was a newbie. You will get the hang of it, probably faster than I did. For grenades to be useful two levels in Demolitions is needed IMO. Then you can use Molotov cocktails and frags to unalive things that are higher level.

Progress was made! Just a quick tip on the + sign on items: It only means that the item was modded from the basic version, so it might be an upgrade, sidegrade or even a downgrade (depending on the use case). Items with stars are superior, due to significant bonus stats (like Big Jim). I generally always save star items. 🤘

My game is so modded I could be wrong; but I thought the pluses and minuses on the menu for clothes and weapons show if something is better or worse than what you currently have equipped. It does in my game but, as I said, maybe its mods.

Love that you finally sort of figured out the perk tree haha. Great episode! Definitely enjoyable to watch. But you really need to be wearing armor and not a coat. Also get used to saving much more often because yes you can screw yourself over by accidentally stealing, or shooting something you didnt mean to that explodes etc, thus ruining relations with others.

You can build switches and connectors to help power items too. Attach wire from a generator to a switch or connector and it will power lights and stuff. For your poster, you may need to build a small generator in your shack, and attach a wire to it from there. Wires can't be attached through walls either unfortunately.

There are glitching techniques to get wires through walls, and walls with windows (or a wall with a doorway and a railing on the bottom to make a window) can get wires through them. Another option is pass through conduits, which can go through walls and allow for electricity conduits on the outside to be brought to a conduit on the inside.

Conduit in the power tab has TWO conduit passthrough pieces one that clips through the wood and concrete structures. And one that clips through the barn and warehouse walls. A connector outside allows you to connect the generator and the pipe inside allows another connector that can hard wire an indoor item that requires a hard connection like the outdoor posters. Not all lights require a hard wire.

True Wire and Wireless techniques have no distance or obstruction limits. Many KZbin tutorials are available if you want to learn advanced techniques. It's easy to do but hard to explain. Best to watch a video. A few times practicing is all you need to learn it. You have normal wiring between conduits, True Wire exploit that extends the range and goes through walls, and Wireless that extends True Wire technique to removing the wires altogether.

You can also build things that need a wire connection next to a generator or connector, then (once built and connected) move it to where you want. The wire moves with it including through walls. Not sure if that only works with mods though.

Can you "bear" two more tips from a follower? To get to try to open the locks you couldn't you need to take the lockpick perk (hacker for terminals) You only need to horde if your doing a lot of building and upgrading in your settlements. There's 32 settlements so a lot might be the answer

Totally jealous of your Pipboy!! I'm on break from work right now, but when I get back to work, I'm making my own Pipboy! (I'm an electrical engineering technician) BTW, you can dress yourself in armor. I grab all junk/clothing AFTER I kill all enemies from a mission. I go back to the settlement and put armor on my settlers. As well as give them weapons with bullets. If you have an armor workbench, you can add ballistics to an item of clothing.

I usually get them to reconcile with 6 CHR, +4 Clothing perks, and some Grape Mentats for automatic success. As much as I use the chem table, it seems hypocritical to fault Wolfgang for trying to make a living with it. He's really just a Pharmacist, and no worse than the unlicensed Doctors that you find everywhere. It's all survival.

You passed over the tools, but they're very useful. Combination wrenches have gears which may be used to create turrets & other things. Later in the game you will meet someone who will pay you 15 caps per tool. If you hoard them, it can pay off. Everyone's style is different, but I never seem to have enough gears, circuitry, & adhesive in the early game. It is possible to have bears in your settlements as guards. Doesn't hurt to save those "Don't feed the bear" signs.

Armor: raider armor gives you protection ageist physical damage melee, bulets shown by a shield, leather protects against energy lasers, fire its symbol is a lighting bolt on your pip-boy. other types of armor give better ratings.

you can use a sniper or long range weapon for targets far away also when using vats the number at the selected body part is the chance of hitting it, check out the stats of your weapons, and maybe put on some armor when you are not wearing a powerarmor, its very hard without it

Hi Liz, Here is to one of your questions and a tip. (Bear) 1) Any skill magazine that you already pickup will be instantly activated and added to your skill. You can choose to collect them or sell them. 2) On your skill chart you can choose any skill points that is not gray out and in no particular order. Just choose what bests suits you or what you want to learn. If the skill you want to learn is grayed out just keep adding skill points to the top of the skill chart of the one you want to active. The further down the list the more skill points are need. There is a max of 10 in each of the top columns. Keep having fun!! We all make mistakes playing this game! That’s why I love watching your videos! It’s so genuine and fun to watch you! Struggling is not fun, but having a great time playing this game is worth it!! A little friendly heads up. Whenever you park your power armor. Make sure you take. Out. The fusion core. Because if you don't. A raider or anyone else can still your armor.

For wiring, many items, like most lights and the TV, have an ambient power activation radius. As long as there is a hot conduit somewhere within that radius, they will be lit. Other things require a direct connection. Ambient fixtures do not require a specific amount of power, and do not add to your power requirement. Other things like Lasers, Computers, Manufacturing, have specific power requirements and will say specifically how much power they require. These will draw on your power limit.

How to access your grenades/explosives: RB to mele HOLDING RB will access your explosives, BUUUUT the moment you let go, the explosive will be tossed. FYI, * Only if * you want more settlers to come to the settlement: In workshop mode, build a generator and then a recruiting beacon. Attach a wire between the two. It will automatically turn on for you. You will now get more settlers to join the settlement. Your pylon issue: Any item with JUST a lighting bolt, needs to be a few feet near a pylon (no wire attachment) and it turns on automatically. Any item that has a number under the lighting bolt, means you need to attach it to a generator/pylon. The reason you cannot attach from pylon to pylon is because you have an item in the way. How can you attach a wire when a wall is in the way? Doing great, enjoying watching!

You should have taken the Fusion Core - your settlers are going to steal your PA when you get attacked. You also need to give settlers weapons and armor, especially if you make them guards. Also, you have the turret BEHIND the guard - you trying to kill him? That's a crazy setup. 🤣And your settlers aren't using their beds because they can't reach them - you need room to walk on the sides! Plus, you DON'T get all your resources back. And PLEASE put on some armor! You have to wear armor! NOT Power-armor; they are two separate things! The stuff that says, 'leg, arm, & chest' when you see it on a dead body! TAKE IT! WEAR IT! You can scrap the rad-barrels at the drive-in and stop the rads. You forget the drive-in is a settlement? BUILD beds, etc. You RUN AWAY when you steal something - why did you just stand there!!! Pencils are the most useless item in the game; you scroll past all the good items and buy a pencil.And she sold leather armor! You need armor!!! Stop fighting stuff with no armor - clothes are considered being naked in the apocalypse. Gunners WEAR ARMOR - you can't beat them because you're just a girl wearing a trenchcoat. 🤣 Picks up every tin can... leaves behind whiskey/alcohol everywhere. You NEED to learn the value of things.

Yes. Good tip. You should always drop items and scrap them on the ground in the colony. The game counts the vertices of the object (or some algorithm) and reduces your building cap by that amount. You can extend the amount that you can build in the colony by dropping and scrapping items on the ground. Weapons have the highest value for building cap, so dropping and scrapping weapons will increase your capacity (lower the stress) the quickest. When you are in colony mode, the bar at the upper right is the building limit/cap status. It goes from green, to yellow, to red when you approach the limit. You can reduce it to zero if you scrap frequently, and with large colonies like Sanctuary you will probably need a higher limit than you are given. You will want to build lots of things in your main colony, and support upwards of 20 colonists Note: this is an exploit. The game limits the colony size so that it doesn't break the game with load requirements. Forcing the limit back down allows you to build more, but you still need to be smart about it. If you start lagging in your colony, you have built too much, and risk breaking the game. The game gives you a huge buffer, so you can build a lot more than it will normally let you (about 3x to 4x easily). Keep your colonies at around 20 colonists, and you will be fine. Problems happen if you have 50-100 colonists in one place, with all of the necessary support structures, beds, buildings, farms, decorations, and usually only in large places like Sanctuary that can hold that many people. Most people will never run into this problem, but you could virtually build a massive skyscraper or sprawling complex that could break the game. I usually hold onto things until I have 2 perks in scrapper before doing a scrapping binge, so you get more usable resources from it. You will want to take time to do a major scrapping binge in each of your big colonies to lower the building bar.

VATS tells you who's an enemy, and you can switch between enemies to see where they are. Your Action Points (AP) in the bottom right tells you how many actions you can do in VATS. The more AP yo uhave the more things and shots you can do in VATS.

V.A.T.S. is basically killing with style, You use action points and you can select different parts of an enemy to target, sometimes it reveals a weak spot. The numbers are your chance to hit.

A plus next to a weapon or armor, when you loot, just means it has better stats than the weapon you are currently wielding, it doesn't mean there is something extra special about it. But if it has a star next to it, it means it's legendary, and have cool effects.

You've Bear ly scratched the surface of what you can do in the games. I'm looking forward to your reactions and commentary as you discover more! I am very impressed that you discovered how to give Mama Murphy a chair. I agree the game is not very clear on that. I liked when you explored the crafting items, I learned somethings. That was a good tour. One tip, in an earlier video you gave up on the Water Purifier because you need to put it in water. The river is toxic, but the Water Purifier will purify the water 🙂 And it will put purified water in your workshop which you can use or sell. For skill books, you can sell them after you read them. There are many skill books in the game not just the "Jerkytown" books. In fact you can find books to help you craft more. For those higher level locks, to access those you can get a perk. I'm very glad you discovered the perks below the first row. I was going to ask if you knew you can select perks, and not just increase S.P.E.C.I.A.L. attributes. I was also going to ask if you knew about V.A.T.S. but it looks like you do know about it. I don't use it all the time but it is good in some situations, like targeting something far away. And with V.A.T.S. you can target a body part. It is particularly helpful to cripple the legs of an enemy charging at you, like a feral ghoul. While I think it's a lot easier and less clumsy to not use Power Armor all the time, I do recommend using some kind of armor to increase the damage resistance. Maybe some armor you loot. Like leather armor or something. Looking forward to the next episode!
