You did this wrong.. the water will eventually go mouldy. I make these all the time as a dice maker and you need to add a bit of glycerin and some alcohol. (30-50 percent glycerin depending on effect and a few drops of alcohol don't need much to stop it going off) The glycerin will stop the mica settling to fast and the alcohol will stop the water going off. Also you can very much dome the top of the ball with UV resin..( but I only do that if it's going in a dice where it will be invisible) this is also the same solution for potion bottles.

These look so cool, but I'm slightly worried about leaks. For the ball bearing...I recently bought a mold for tiny snowflakes, and I think they might fit inside these balls. Seeing a snowflake through the glass would be a nice addition, and they'd serve the purpose of keeping things in motion.

I've got some flakey "glitter" that's a bit bigger than the larger flake you put in. Gave it a try, some sank pretty quick but some was slower. I think it's mylar, got it at a place that sells supplies largely for making nail polish. The matte white glitter shreds floated right away lol. I prefer irregular shaped flakes to hexagonal glitter, both for aesthetics and it comes off nails much easier than regular glitter.

These are cool!! The heavy bearing would be nice. Just enough weight for swing, but not too much where they will hurt your ears. You should make your own “globes”. Just make a paint a few layers in a cabochon mold. Then glue it down to a plastic backing. Make a hole and fill it up. If you want to put things in it put the dry pieces in before the backing.
@daniel..cooper Жыл бұрын
Thank you 😊 I will try that 😊🥰

What if you coated some little tiny bits of Styrofoam in UV resin and dropped them in? Would it give the look of little snow balls maybe? And maybe coat them in a white sparkle this would remove the need for a bb being in it keep them moving and give a bigger snow effect.. just a thought you may want to try
@daniel..cooper Жыл бұрын
It may work but think they would be super floaty?
@cwv-artistry Жыл бұрын
@@daniel..cooper that's why I suggested coating in UV resin to weigh them down or on an even simpler idea make tiny white UV resin balls they would have to be transparent but would still give the snowball type effect I believe

Ohhh, these are so cute, Daniel! Even I would wear these! I was thinking (uh, oh): a small, clear glass bead would be great. OR...if you can make super miniature things like trees, etc., just use glycerin, Iso Alc, and distilled water to make a "regular" snow globe! You could even make a snowy bed of mica mixed with UV resin to stand a tree (or whatever) in, then fill with the liquid. I heard someone say that, when they make shakers or globes, the chunkier glitters work way better than the fine stuff.
