Envy has a master, lies. Deception is more effective, and is the first sin of Man, though not by Man. Deception caused envy in the heart of Eve, causing doubt and leading to the fall. I have faith in you continuing the conversation in your own mind, brother, so I'll stop and let the Holy Spirit guide you. Love you, bro.

@@denvercrucifixion5928 thnx but I don't think that anology you used fits the context of what I'm saying. My Mom was catholic & is now born again & saved. That's what I'm saying, we need to pray for & contend for the folks that think they're Christian but aren't, the most. They're not far off, they just need a little truth. If they reject that, then what you're saying would be an appropriate response.
@denvercrucifixion59283 жыл бұрын
@@knowone11111 of course, but the way we contend for any starts with following Christ heart and soul. If we follow heart and soul, we will be good stewards that is natural. Most of the church establishment with correct doctrine is not following Christ singly. We must not be blaming the apostates for our lack of stewardship. The dead can sort out the dead. We must be that light on a hill and the rest will follow. It is the church's fault for the state of society. I agree 100% with evangelism of cults and non-believers alike. We must remember that we are turned away from God into false beliefs by our own lusts. As Christians with the blessings of God, we must set ourselves apart in sanctified affections to Christ. Through this we will be the standard that resists the deadness of mankind and in no other way can we be.

Conformity masquerading as individuality. Absolutely! Girard rocks! I’m so glad a conservative Christian is introducing him. Mimetic desire leads to mimetic rivalry, which leads to scapegoating and violence. In our case, MSM is busily creating scapegoats to order for an increasingly rivalrous public: woke vs. patriots. Orange man bad! Unvaxed, MAGA dimwits deserve to lose their livelihoods. Rivalry grows into collective, seemingly justified violent conflict. It’s coming to a narrative-driven, mimetic society near you. It’s already breaking out.

@olddoc44303 жыл бұрын
Yes, the pastors don’t discuss the sin of envy. Neither does anybody else. It, for me, is the dark shadow in the human soul. Nietzsche might have called it the will to murder. Mimesis (envy) leads to conflict which is naturally, biologically and archetypally contagious. Thus as Girard described it, it leads ultimately to rioting, psychotic chaos and finally the resolution crisis of all against one murder. The human sacrifice. When I re read his two great books, and many of his other books I had an epiphany. On an unconscious level my mind rejected the conclusion being presented so brilliantly. “I truly didn’t want to know these things about myself”. I couldn’t even keep it in the front of my mind. Neither can those pastors who won’t (can’t) preach it. The mind reals and rejects the “truth” that we are all just a trip and fall away from becoming members of a murderous lynch mob. The first of Rene Girard’s books I read was “Things Hidden Since the Foundation of The World”. He wasn’t joking. Envy is not an “ordinary” sin. It is hidden from all of us. Coincidentally the works of Satan are also universally hidden from us. I love that you gave this talk. I agree that the only “solution” is on an individual basis and that of being saved by the in dwelling of the Spirit as one is born again. It then becomes part of ones life work to maintain surveillance for this sin and use praise and prayer to deal with it. With love

Old Doc 44 -- One Pastor discusses the sin of envy. Pastor Jesus. As we Christians should discern, envy is advertised intra-soul as the 'palatable sin' of consumerism which is even more nicely termed capitalism, but falsely so called. Godly "free marketism" does not assume the almighty dollar (or trade equivalent) as the chief end of man nor the chief end of man's activities (Mises' Human Action). "We are all Randians now" tho sadly. Yes, even evangelicals. But Jesus stiffly warns against mammonism and covetousness. These are things no doubt you know but figured I'd type thoughts out as a reminder to any reading.

Eve envied the power and privilege of God. But, wait a minute, didn’t Satan have exactly the same envy experience. She needed the prodding of Satan to get there, thence she became fallen. Now that we all are fallen we need no prodding to envy. It is universally natural and dominating in the entire human race. Wo is us. With love
