But then, when something genuinely bad happens in our own lives, and we see it with our own eyes, because it doesn’t match the cartoon we treat it as an anomaly, a one-off occurrence . . . a thing we don’t have a category for. But we need to have a category for something this common."

I so love how Pastor Wilson is courageous enough to speak Biblically to the political and social issues of the darkening days in which we live. Many are content to cower to the world in these matters and live in willful ignorance of the impending threats our families and nation's face, or worse yet they embrace the world's narratives!

Our nation being like an abusive marriage is spot on. As a former abused wife, I can say that you definitely describe both situations accurately. Sad that 30 years ago I couldn't find a pastor with your insight into an abuser's tactics. We were always told it was a submission problem--mine.

They are giving in because the suburban church is weak, being fed half-truths and will not take a stand for anything so they can keep their new cars and mortgages. The question to ask isn't what does our nation to repent of to receive God's grace, it's what do we need to repent of? It's time to take inventory, get our houses in order and to put on the sack cloth and ashes if need be. "For the time has come for judgment to begin at the house of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the end of those who do not obey the gospel of God?" I Peter 4:17

I don’t mean to be contrary. There is so much to love in this sermon. My question would be: to what extent is it necessary to make the connection between the idol and the tyranny before we assert absolute personal autonomy by confessing that Jesus is Lord? Is there no tyranny that a Christian ought to submit to as a matter of conscience? If rebellion against a brushing and flossing mandate is justified by the mere fact that the civil servant is not the Lord of me, then is there anything that he can command a Christian to do? There must be some tyranny that is mere foolishness and not actual idolatry, right?

16:09 It's interesting to me that Wilson thinks that Bible-believing Christians who have not participated in the progressive sins of the culture need to corporately repent along with those who have committed them. But Wilson would also say that these same Bible-believing Christians do not need to repent of the sins of previous generations of whites against blacks, because they did not commit those sins. I guess it all depends on whose ox is being gored.

So he is trying to get people to stand up for the Christ to sacrifice themselves to reform the nation, yet the reformation comes to the church not to those who do not believe, the scriptures he is using does not even support his argument ,the whole sermon or speech is a mess, so he wants you to sacrifice yourself to reform the nation yet reformation came to Gideon's house or rather his father's house ,also he was instructed by the angel of the Lord who came to him personally this is an extremely powerful spiritual event, so he wants you to simply go off on your own back and tear down the idols of a nation, when the righteous rule the people rejoice ,when the wicked rule the people mourn, this has nothing to do with his argument of repentance, the people morn because they are suffering at the evil hands of the tyrant, this has nothing to do with producing sin and repenting from it, because the Tyrant is the one who is sinning and those under it are suffering it, And when he uses his argument concerning an idle which is a block of wood carved into some figure or someone else's philosophy, then he is mixed the two together because there are two different kinds of idols, one is a block of wood which says nothing the other is a living being which is speaking to you of their philosophy, if a person worships a block of wood they suffered their own desires because it is their heart which consumes them, this is Romans 1, but if you worship a living being then they suffer the heart of another, You suffer their philosophy, The scriptures that he is using have nothing to do with his argument, to simply call those to stand up for the Christ concerning the nation even if you die for it, to bring forth reformation for a nation or rather the unbeliever, yet reformation is for the church those who believe not those who do not,
