I agree. Do not paint the window sills pink and leave the bath tub white. It will look so much more elegant and clean. Put in golden objects instead - hangers, chairs, mirrors etc. if you want the luxury look. Apart from that your house is so gorgeous. Two people with so much living space is just pretty privileged. Hi Josie, Do you still have some of the darker pink paint left, in which you painted your fireplace mantel? If so, you should do a sample (on a separate, small sample piece of wood) where you add some soft, antique brushstrokes of gold. In my opinion (and that's all it is), I think that darker pink paint on the fireplace mantel needs to be toned down just a bit. The gold highlights, especially, when picked-up by the sunlight, would be so beautiful and would add just the right amount of elegance and ambiance to the room. Just something to think about.

Yes, process is to use a feather dipped in the paint for veining and twist it along the item you wish to create the veining as in marble.

Saturate an old cloth / t- shirt with buttermilk and place on concrete, can require two coats. This process expedites the patina of lichen / mossy patina on older garden urns and sculptures.

Charlie isn't always correct with what he says!! Hydrangeas can grow/thrive in acid or alkaline soil, in alkaline soil the flowers will be PINK, in acid soil they will turn BLUE, white flowers keep white whatever the soil......

You might try a little spray solution of water, a few drops of peppermint oil and one drop of dish soap in a spray bottle and spray it on those areas that are getting the cobwebs, it keeps spiders away and it’s safe for puppies!

It’s a totally personal opinion but I think I would leave the urns to weather naturally as shiny gold is too glitzy for my taste and not really in keeping with the age or aesthetic of your beautiful house.However,it’s your forever home and you are decorating it to your taste which is exactly how it should be! I have heard that you can put a very ,very thin layer of yoghurt on the exterior of new plant pots to give them a vintage look.

Josie, I've seen mixing buttermilk and sphagnum moss in an old blender, chop it up, and paint on your flower pots to age them. Not sure of number of treatments it takes though. You are supposed to wear gloves when covering pot with this mixture because you use the moss that is "alive" and it will hurt your hands. Get a blender from charity for doing this only, never use for any other blending. Best wishes for you guys!!

I've used the yoghurt trick in the past and it works beautifully....makes a brand new urn look weathered and vintage. Perhaps the gold look would make them look plastic instead.

I think it would look too much in your face. Everything else is in chrome, so why don’t you go for a dark silver or a pewter tone on the bathtub legs? And then you can always play with antique golden tones in the bathroom either in antique style ornaments or picture frames on the walls. We are not being opinionated darling, it’s your house and we know it, they’re just well intentioned opinions so that you both can visualise things first and then decide about them.

Bedroom colour and panel colouring is incredible!!!! You should make a book of your home decor and refurbished furniture, flower arrangements and garden. It would be a perfect Christmas gift. Hey Josie I have a little question you should think about. I know you are very excited to be in the new house and you and charlie want to make it your place and get it "finished" as soon as possible. I mean I think everyone of us would feel like this at first. However after watching LEM for a while she said in more recent videos that she had to redo many of the rooms in her house because her sence of style and her vision of her house change after living in it for a little while. So maybe just slow down a little? Take more time to ponder over decisions and things you want to buy or design. I know you probably had a pinterest board for years of things you wanted for your forever home and you thought plenty already. But each house is a little different. Buying so many things at once can be overwhelming and make anyone lose the greater vision of a space. With impulse buys you always stand a high risk of regretting them later. I don't want to hate on any decisions with this comment or say your decisions are poorly made. Just that taking a little more time almost always leads to a better end result. Love your videos and almost all the things you bought and wish you as always all the best

My country house is a cottage and I decided to order plaques to hang on the doors of each room (according to their colours or decoration styles). I.e. The Cellar Library/Study; The Barn Sitting Room; Blue Bedroom, Linen Bedroom, Cranberry Bedroom, Drawing Room; Dining Room; etc. The plaques were ordered online and look adorable on the doors (to me at least) and the labels on the tins of paint are according to the rooms (so no confusion when time comes for a quick touch up!). Just a humble suggestion. 💞

The colour of the hydrangeas depend on the levels of aluminium and alkalinity in the soil. Pat some calamine onto your dry itchy patches- Boots do a calamine and hydrocortisone mix over that counter that is a gardening staple!! Adore the herb shelving- when you have time (I know you don’t have any) snip some of the freshest herbs and freeze in ice trays. Start filling bags of frozen herbs for when they die off in the Winter. Love hearing you literally BREATHLESS with excitement. So happy for you two! 💯
