Great video and awesome perspective of how big the bypass is - FYI the 26km Gympie bypass itself (Cooroy to Curra Section D) commenced construction in Oct 2020. It was the new motorway alignment between Sankeys Rd and Traveston Rd (Cooroy to Curra Section B) that commenced construction in 2009.

Great video! Being a Gympie local I recognised heaps of places that you flew over. Sure looks different looking down. Gympie is a great place to live. I've driven past the construction of one of the interchanges everyday for the past 4 years on my way to work. Watching the bridges being built was quite interesting. Its a massive project and I think they've done well to complete section D in a little over 4 years. I look forward to driving on it in the very near future.

I just did a trip south from Maryborough today, got home to Caboolture, popped on KZbin and up this came - algorithms at work, but good result. Have done this trip scores of time and know every part you talked about. This was very cool. I have to say this bypass popped up in numbers of conversations today and everyone is excited, so thanks for the awesome overview, loved it. But 15 years? That's embarrassing.

I had just made an adjustment to the carburetors, affecting mixture. Testing climb outs was a way to load the engine and watch the temperatures to make sure they weren't excessive, and have a runway to immediately return to if there were any issues. I flew today for several hours and all is very well. Even checked the spark plugs today and the colour indicating mixture is spot on.

All the things you mention in your discription are true, But what about the economic effects this will have on Gympie as a town, many businesses rely on people stopping in and spending their money in town, just like all the bypasses in Northern NSW it has killed small towns and the economy in those small towns, so people move to the city, my gosh every major city in Australia already cant cope with its population, this is a huge issue facing Australia ATM........ I dont really see to many positives
@FutureSystem7383 ай бұрын
Riiiiiight. So they shouldn’t have built the bypass? What complete rubbish. People who WANT something will drive via the old route (and have a clearer run doing so). People who want to get from A to B will benefit hugely by not having to crawl through town.

If only we designed highways with a large multi lane gap between the lanes. This way ALL the overpasses, the off-ramps and the guard rails would never need to be touched in the future. And then if you wanted to add a lane at a later stage you could do so without ever effecting traffic flow. We have spent billions on the gateway motorway northbound and for us to add a SINGLE lane, we need to destroy all guardrails, all off-ramps, all over passes to make it wider…. and block traffic for years to do so. Why are we so incredibly f’n dumb.
